  1. Just finished Orange is the new black.

    Super show.

Me and the missus just started the second series recently, found the first series got better with each episode. Quite compelling.

Although by god the title sequence is dreadful.

  2. A few recent and quick reviews, without spoilers...

    Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

Saw it at IMAX. Amazing stunt work from Tom Cruise! He is still as talented as ever. The old ones are the best. Simon Pegg once again adds elements of light-heartedness to it. Not as good as Ghost Protocol in my opinion but something that has to be seen.

    Lucy

Crazy movie about 100% use of the human brain. Not for the logical-minded. First 30 minutes is thriller-gripping, and then it just goes off on one for the last hour. Hard to keep track of the "what" and the "why". Worth a watch given that it's less than 90 minutes long and features Scarlett Johansson.

    The Equalizer

To me, Denzel's BEST performance. Fantastic thriller/action with a cool character that was easy to relate to. Kept me gripped for the whole movie. Thrillertastic. Keep your wits about you next time you're in B&Q.

    Galaxy Quest

Geeky, fairly funny... Just a fun movie for the sci-fi geek. Great cast including Sigourney and Alan Rickman. I'd be interested to compare it to Spaceballs, which I hear isn't as funny.

    Jurassic World

The second-best of the franchise. I think it's as good as it could've been, but was never ever going to capture the original novelty of the first movie. The best bit about it? Their website!

    Into the Storm

Switched it off after 10 minutes.

Got a number lined up to watch that I haven't seen: American Hustle, Fury, The Maze Runner, Robocop (1987), As Above So Below, Zombeavers...

Re Jurassic World, I was suitably impressed too I must say. More so than I expected to be! That final fight was really fun I thought, though VERY predictable as to what was going to happen.

As Above So Below, saw it a few months ago, nothing special. It's just your usual bog standard suspense/jump scare film, though it does take a quite unusual turn late on. All in all worth a watch. Just.

  3. Really cant wait for Twin Peaks return next year, Im a massive Lynch fan and love all his films and tv, he's going to be writing and directing all the eps along with the original writers with lots of the original cast returning I imagine, the shows going to put everything else on tv to shame(for me anyway) Its been a long while now since David Lynch has directed anything and I think its going to be immense seeing how far he can push things in todays tv climate where pretty much anything goes.

So I'm now going to have to re-watch twin peaks along with x-files(a show which owes a lot to twin peaks)

If you liked Twin Peaks, have you tried watching Wayward Pines? Pretty decent show.

Anyone else watched 'People Just Do Nothing' On BBC Three? It's hilarious!

  4. He's never been cracked on the jaw by a real top class heavyweight so it'll be interesting to see how he reacts. I put no stock in the Chisora fight as Delboy fought like a bum. He's capable of far better than that although credit to Fury for the way he busted him up but that was probably his easiest fight.

No but he's been cracked on the jaw by himself!

  5. This is actually the first ever fight I want Fury to win, don't like the bloke but just to see a change at the top would be refreshing. Hopefully after that they can set up a fight with Wilder and let him get smashed off him (not a fan of Wilder either though).

Make no mistake, I do not like Fury.

  6. Doesn't come as a surprise as I really didn't see him risking a loss against a top class fighter in his final fight. It would have to be premier fighter too otherwise the fight wouldn't really make sense, the Chavez fight was all about money, in a fight he knew he would more than likely win.

He wouldn't push for the Ward rematch for the inevitable loss, and it wouldn't give him his Vegas payday either. There isn't really any fights out there that tick all the boxes really.

  7. I watched a documentary a couple of years ago, on it they showed how vociferously the go after people who leave the 'church'. They really made this guys life hell. They call them squirrels or something.

On a side note I've noticed that recently there's been a few adverts for Scientology on TV.

  8. The organisations just run by depraved conmen(and women) the followers are just your usual easily lead lost souls that get sucked into these kinds of cults.(or at leasy thays how its portrayed in the doc)

That said some of the techniques they practice(ie.'reducing') probably would be very effective techniques to use in phsychiatry by profesionals that wouldn't abuse it to virtually blackmail theire patients.

They do seem rather sinister don't they

  9. It was snooze inducing.

Maybe there is something there in the right shoulder injury, I was wondering why Manny wasn't trying to set up the right hand as Floyd was circling away that way every time (he's obviously not going to circle into his power hand I know). Easier said than done trying to set a shot up like that on Mayweather but I would have expected some sort of setup for it in 12 rounds.

The reach disadvantage obviously wouldn't help too of course.

  10. Yes, but the gulf is comparable to us and Liverpool imo. Though this would be in development as well as ability, AND calibre of management.

Sure we concede experience amongst other things to Southampton, but these guys have gone a bit over the top. "Doing well to still be in the game with 20 minutes left" being just one example.

Just so thankful they haven't steamrollered us this lot.....
