  1. Great that Mowbray has had the opportunity to speak to the owners already. Definitely an improvement on communications by the looks of it. Credit to Paul Senior.

I like how Mowbray said we will secure our status in the division and then he will talk to them during the summer about next steps.

I am going to say that this will be our most positive and constructive summer since Venkys bought the club.

Add Bournemouth into the list with Leicester.

And P.S. it did happen to us under Kean, we are currently nursing circa 130 million of debt as a hangover from his reign.

    Fair point.

The fact we have stayed in this division has also kept us out of the Coventry and Leyton orient category.

The Leyton Orient situation is a funny one though in terms of fit and proper, the owner has put money in, loads of it, he's just wasted some of it on overpaid rubbish, however they could've turned out to be world beaters. The situation or the O's could have been very different should they have won on Penalties against Rotherham in 2014, the one saving grace for them is that Hearne put the ground into (self managed) trust when he sold the club.

They gambled big on going up, just like Coventry did and it ended up putting the club in huge financial trouble. It almost happened us under Kean. Although with the dreaded "cost cutting" since, we appear to be just about keeping ourselves on the right side of the nuclear scenario, unlike those two. You then have your Leicesters who gambled and won big time and will now face retrospective action that matters very little once you are in the Premiership.

Disappointing performance today at a very wet and windy Brockhall by the Under-23 team.  A different system - three centre-backs with Henley and Hendrie operating as wing backs - didn't work and ultimately we were beaten by the only goal by the better side.  We missed two decent early chances but never got a look in after that.  Sunderland looked very impressive and thoroughly deserved their win.  Both teams now go into the draw for the knock-out stage.

We were already through though ,weren't we?

    Did Hoban and Ward play?

I really don't understand why we used a loan spot on Hendrie.

A very good win and an excellent performance, particularly up to the point when Butterworth came off injured.  First twenty minutes or so it was fairly even and Cardiff looked like being tough opponents.  Then we started knocking it around with increased confidence and played some lovely pass and move football.  Hardcastle and Mols were outstanding in midfield, Mols playing in an unfamiliar position on the right wing.  Rankin-Costello took his goals well and Butterworth was a constant threat playing just behind Mansell.  Ward and Hoban looked, as you would expect, a class apart and controlled things at the back without breaking sweat.  This allowed Travis and Doyle to continually attack down the flanks from full-back.  Injuries to Butterworth and Doyle meant we lost momentum in the second half and although we created numerous chances we didn't take them.  Cardiff's consolation came with the last kick of the match.  This was another very impressive performance from Rovers youngsters considering they were without Nyambe, Tomlinson, Mahoney, Platt and Thomson.  Hardcastle is returning to form after a lean time, Mols looks an outstanding attacking prospect, as does Rankin-Costello and in Butterworth we looked to have picked up a real prospect from United.  Travis and Doyle were excellent in the full-backs positions - both in defence and going forward.  The ideal game for Ward and Hoban as they got 90 minutes in without being overworked.

All sounds very positive. Cheers for that. Glad to hear the two lads played 90.

If you were a true Rovers fan you would understand the sensitivity of suspicion but you haven't done so. If I'd been a new, true Rovers fan on here and been treated as you have been I would have been far more defensive of my position and backed it up with both fact and with others that I have shared my Rovers experiences with. You haven't done that, so I see you as a fraud, a WUM and a poster that we can well do without. We're hurting enough as it is, without the likes of yourself mixing a bottle.

If I'm wrong, I'll apologise but otherwise please just feck off.

If a sane person reads my posts, they will see I am a real fan.

The level of suspicious among some supporters here looks to be bordering on the ridiculous.

    Apology accepted.

The only time I've ever referred to Rovers as "Blackburn" is when I've been overseas with people who know little about the club or place. And even then it feels weird.

I don't know any Rovers fans who say Blackburn. Even oppo fans refer to us as Rovers most of the time.

I live overseas, in Ireland, and quite frankly I find people bringing this up as something to be "suspicious" of ,ridiculous.

I don't think it represent ROVERS fans who do it very positively.

I am sure we all make Typo's. However do we all do the following?

    1. Refer to Rovers generically as Blackburn?

    2. Think that we joined this forum 3 years after we actually did?

    3. Post around 100 comments in the first 5 years of membership and then suddenly start porting incessantly?

    4. Push as hard as you possibly can to find out if something that was posted as factual was in fact really done?

    5. Antagonise the bulk of the other posters?

    6. Insist you would post no more, but carry on regardless?

    In response

1-Who cares? Do Manchester Utd fans argue over whether it is Man U or Manchester utd? I didn't realise you needed to call a club a specific name, otherwise you aren't a "real fan"

    2-What is your point here?

3-I was on another message board

4-It is called a debate. If people have nothing to hide or have proof, this should not be an issue.

5-Nope, not the bulk. Just a handful of "well seasoned" posters.

6-I said I would no longer post in the Balaji Rao/ Jeremey Beadle thread, which I haven't.

If you don't like my posts, just don't respond or ignore them. It is very simple :)

Make hay while the sun shines. The other handful of posters like you quickly disappeared after a relegation or a poor appointment.

Hope you have a clause in your contract for a good deal when fired, either that or good life insurance.

The other explanation may be they disappeared because they were wrong and everyone else on here was right. Every time.

I am pretty sure that no message board in the world agrees on everything. Contrary to what you may think, it is the same story here :)

I thought not. No wonder there is speculation about you on here.

The plot thickens. Fancy only posting during those transfer windows and now he can't stop posting. He can't explain why either or possibly refuses to.

Just read what that post said on 04/01/2013. In it when referring to Venky's he uses the correct version of their. However a couple of pages back, when referring to someone, he uses the wrong version THERE. It is all there for anyone to see and for me confirms that the 2013 poster and the current poster, are NOT the same person.

That typo undoubtedly confirms peoples suspicions. I can't hide it any longer. I just didn't anticipate coming up against a master sleuth such as yourself on here.

I would have got away with it if it wasn't for those pesky kids....

    Ha! Hindsight.

When you call it before it happens everyone calls you negative and says, and I quote, "give him a chance FFS".

Oh, and I was one of those saying the squad he had should be in the play-offs and we needed better than a 'steady manager' before it was too late.

Guess what #1? I was told I was negative and to "get behind him FFS".

Guess what #2? When he failed people talked about hindsight.

I guess we are going to have to go through most of the last 6 years with you after all.

    No thanks ,you're fine!

  12. Just now, 47er said:

We had a decent squad so why didn't it finish higher? Because Bowyer was a poor manager.

We had the bones of a good team. Hindsight is a great thing. I don't remember anyone at the time saying we should be getting into the play offs. Bowyer was a steady manager who knew the club well and did a decent job during a challenging period.

It's 6 years according to your profile. To even know you would one day become Rovers Director of Football shows a foresight that actually makes you instantly the most respected poster on the site. However, you still have to agree with the 'seasoned' posters and site 'stalwarts'. This isn't the place for discussion, just agreement with the prevailing view. Or else.

Jesus is it 6? Ya I think I opened an account here after I was banned from the official board for 1 month for being a little too vitriolic in my abuse of Venkys and their continued backing of Steve Kean :D

Anyway. They should have appointed Mowbray then :)

The sites been infiltrated by kn0bheads recently, present company excepted of course, but you'll soon find out, like on most sites, that constantly playing the man and not the ball will only end one way.

Seasoned posters is in reference to posters that have been around for a while, the ones that have contributed in many different ways to keeping this site the best BRFC site on the internet. That doesn't mean new posters aren't welcome, but it does mean new posters need to learn the rules and be respectful, not wonder round threads breaking the posting record in the hope to somehow get a rise out of people.

Thats today's lesson over RV, ignore the advice at your peril.

In other words,go with the view of the "seasoned posters" or feel our wrath. Actually, are you seasoned with salt or pepper?
