I think it's fair to say that people haven't taken to you on here yet.

Part of the reason is posts like the above. They ignore discussions and scenarios played out over a long long time on here. You say you've been reading for three years. You should be well versed in much of this stuff but you don't show it. For instance, FFP is widely felt to be an excuse - one of many - for Venkys not to put their hand in their pocket and reverse the decline they caused. We are the only club in this division who are as badly affected as we are. Nobody else comes close. Spending carries on, their are plenty of loop holes.

We have seen plenty of 'proof' of a different agenda by those in charge of the club. There is a reason that this place is not like the official board or RoversTalk. It's because things which put the club in a bad light are discussed, argued about, or chosen to be ignored, or in some cases beyond the intellect of those reading (not a dig at you), but they are not hidden or removed. It's one of the reasons that this site has consistently been the busiest and best Rovers fan site. Some of that approach is changing sadly due to the current admin approach but most of this stuff survives. If it were untrue, it would be removed. But we have lived through years of this so don't expect not to get a hard time when you are posting things which in some cases have been well-trodden facts, the proof buried in these pages, and in some cases racking up old wounds and arguments.

Please try to remember this and post more wisely. Maybe even give the board stalwarts the benefit of the doubt rather than short shrift.

I disagree. People seem to have issues with things like "would Gary Bowler have done a good job as DOF". Even raising a question like this has people frothing at the mouth. That can be discussed without me being accused of being one with the "dark forces" ,no?

Yes,I am sure there is plenty of good stuff buried on here. There is also a lot of stuff that is sensationalist and downright in the realms of conspiracy theory. In fact I notice certain things that I know not to be true, are repeated on here as gospel. Then when I ask for evidence or to explain why someone thinks something to be the case, instead of an explanation I get abuse. I respect anyone who shows me respect. I don't respect people who are too thin skinned or unsure of what they are saying,to be unable to provide a counter argument without resorting to aggressive babbling.

Can you provide proof to support the rubbish and lies accusation? Thought not.

Ya I can support it. Open your eyes and read. There you go.

You pitched up here 2wks ago and started towing the party line and insulting seasoned posters.

You clearly have an agenda, as you're completely ignoring years of mismanagement, under investment and people being promoted beyond their abilities.

So you carry on looking towards the future mystic Meg and ignoring the glaringly obvious,  but allow us to remain highly sceptical of the youth team coach running our club that's promoted way beyond his abilities.

I stood up for myself when some of the crack pots on here start accusing me of being ,take your pick ;Venkys spy,a Dingle, Paul senior,Owen Coyle ,Owen coyles son ,to name but a few of the paranoid and actually funny accusations that have been made.

I don't get the youth coach reference in relation to senior, what's that about?

If not Senior then his MB scribe. Seems to always want proof provided. Dingle WUM but have to say quite good at it.

The only people afraid of proof are those who cannot back up their viewpoint. It seems some people here spout rubbish and lies and when when they are asked to go a bit deeper and explain what they mean or give proof, they resort to insults. It is actually comical.

Basically you are actually Paul Senior, aren't you? A mouthpiece of the men behind the curtain, with a remit to smooth things over with the fans so that your mates can continue robbing the club and the town of its heritage. Shame on you. Leech.

Yes,I am Paul Senior. Don't tell anybody.

Youth team coach to DOF? Not sure about that. Bowyer under Warnock with that squad and we'd be up by now.

They promoted Kean from assistant manager to untouchable ,so I wouldn't rule it out :) If you have the skills to be a good DOF ,that should be enough. I read that Phillip Lahm is being offered the role by a number of Bundesliga teams and he is only finishing up playing this summer!

Bowler and Warnock would have been ideal. The one that got away.

You are always so quick to defend the dark forces behind our slide into near oblivion. Every time you let your little mask slip like this, I become more convinced you are one of the people we (the ordinary fan) need to be very wary of, or even rid of completely.

The post you quoted ,I was defending Bowyer. Is he a dark force now as well?

Where have you been for the past 7yrs?

Do you think Coyle asked to sign Jaoa? or do you think Senior, a glorified youth team coach brought him in on his own initiative?

Wake up man, how many times do we have to see the same mistakes being made over and over again for some to take heads out of backsides?

Are you basing your view of senior purely on the previous 7 years? Fair enough if you are. I prefer to look at things in the present and future. Whilst of course acknowledging the damage Venkys have done to the club due to mismanagement.

As for Joao. I am assuming he was signed in a similar manner to 1000s of other players in January. It is irrelevant anyway in the grand scheme of things.

So can I just ask again, what are you basing your opinion of senior on? I know a lot of what is in the media, but from that,I don't think there is enough to base an opinion one way or another. He got here in December and since then has improved or managerial situation. That's a positive for me. Obviously the January window could have been better, but like I said,we had a dead duck manager. So I'm 50/50.on that. I don't personally see anything wrong with what he has said so far. Do you have examples of things he has said that you have an issue with?

Not for the first 2 years we weren't. With Newcastle, Norwich, Villa down here and the likes of Weds, Brighton and even Wolves spending big money, I'd argue it was much harder now. Bowyer did well to keep us up and signed some decent players, but then had no idea on how to use and organise them and should've been potted 12 months sooner than he was. Ironically, Bowyer would be a good fit for this DoF role as he could spot a player, but then get an actual manager to use them properly.

Bowyer as DOF may have been a good shout. Let's not forget the amount of crap he had to sort out as well. We could easily have went down during that period,if he had not of identified some of those players.

Senior has put himself on the back foot with some cringeworthy interviews that have show he will happily fiddle while Rome burns. However he has done 3 major things so far. Remove Coyle (the good), give us Jaoa (the bad) and bring in Mowbray (the ugly :P).

Going forward, the relationship between him and Mowbray will need to be exceptionally good if he's providing players, However it has to be Mowbrays call if he wants them. It's no good forcing players on a manager and forcing him to adapt his system.which brings us back to is a DOF a glorified scout?

I find the fact that people are using the signing of Jaoa as a stick to beat senior with a bit weak. He is a player we signed on loan. I really don't see how it is a big issue.

Senior has literally just gotten in the door, with one January transfer window, where the manager was a dead man walking.

I just find the immediate conspiracy and negativity around him, with little or nothing to back it up all a bit strange. I'm not actually referring to your post by and large as I think it is balanced and you make some good points.

I will be judging senior after next summer.

Every appointment has been a failure. The fact people look fondly on Bowyer's three years of midtable mediocrity says it all.

We were under FFP restrictions. While we had a decent squad. The championship was a lot stronger and more competitive then than it is now. Bowyer did a solid job here. No more,no less. In no way could he be called a failure.

  11. The provision on the above is that we are in the championship by the way. If we go to league 1 ,we are screwed as the current squad will be downgraded even further. If we start up,with TM and a few new additions,I believe we will be competing above where we were under Bowyer. Maybe not play offs, but above mid table.

  12. Just now, tomphil said:

And that's correct but what some of us have learned is that it will not happen under this ownership. Mowbray might stop the rot briefly, i think he can, but it'll re-emerge in summer. If he stays his task will be the same next season as it is now, keep a budget slashing, player selling loan and freebie signing club out of the Championship bottom 3.

The last 6 years shows us that even if we do manage to get a decent manager, we won't get the money to get decent signings, so we won't get moving up the table to a big enough extent.

Senior has said it is a big summer and that there is money there.

The guy wants to do a good job here to progress his career in football.

I don't see how lying to fans will do that for him.

Look I am not expecting 100 million to be spent or anything, but with some astute investments and promotion of youth,we can move well up the table. I believe where we are now is the low point.

  13. Just now, Amarillo said:

I understand it perfectly, it's just redundant in this context. Give him a chance, don't give a chance, it won't influence anything. Remember, this place is notoriously unrepresentative of the fanbase at large. ;)

Personally, I don't give a toss. Deckchairs, titanic. At least the odious one's gone but this club's royally fooked no matter who's in the dugout. Mowbray might delay the rot for another year but you can't stem the tide forever.

I don't believe total destruction and/or relegation to league 1 eventually is a foregone conclusion.

A solid manager (which we may well have)and a few signings will get us moving in the right direction. Venkys or no Venkys.

This season could just as conceivably be the mid point of the bottom loop of a bell curve as apposed to part of a continual decline.

Didn't you once accuse this place of being an echo chamber?

I guess it's okay so long as it reverberates views you agree with? Anyway, you're still missing the point, so nevermind.

No,never used the phrase echo chamber in my life.

You're the one who doesn't get it,if you don't understand what someone means by the phrase "give him a chance"

  15. Just now, Amarillo said:

My point is that "give him a chance" is just an empty platitude. It doesn't mean anything. None of us can influence this appointment either way.

It means ,for example, stop criticizing him after one days training and one game ,which we actually got a decent result in.

It's negativity we don't need. We are 3 points from safety, yet I have read posts from numerous posters here saying things like we are as good as down and let's just prepare for league one next season. The negativity is completely irrational. As I said,we are 3 points from safety with 14 games left.

  16. Just now, Amarillo said:

    Give Mowbray a chance?

    What does that even mean?

I would take it to mean, don't be critical of mowbray after last games night. After having 1 day to work with the players. As some fans are doing in the Burton thread.

Last nights result was a good one in my opinion. I am pretty sure it would have been a defeat under Coyle. I am a lot considerably more confident about staying up now.

I have most certainly heard Sutton's comments on Senior.

They are less than complimentary and still in the public domain if you can be arsed to search.

    Sound lad is our Chris.

Oh right. I genuinely didn't hear. It's a big deal if he is slating our DOF. What did he say. I can't seem to find the quotes. I am definitely arsed to find them.

I love Sutton even more since he became a pundit. His wind ups of rangers leaning pundits are beautiful to behold.

    Were you telling porkies?

Is he allowed to make decisions?

I'm told the only reason Coyle got the boot this week was because the Slumdog billionaires were in the UK and gave the consent for his sacking.

Nothing happens apparently when they're at home in India and out of contact most of the time.

I hear it is pretty easy to get Balajis phone number. If you know where to look...
