  1. Well said. I can’t think much more what the club can actually do to attract more season ticket holders than the current number of season ticket holders that we have at present. I know several people who haven’t renewed, some are genuine reasons, and others are because they don’t want to watch another season like we have had. It is understandable, if people don’t want to sell out x amount of money to see another repeat of last season, then that’s there choice. But in my opinion, we will not have a season like we have just had. We performed badly last season, the table doesn’t lie. However the club have done incredibly well and really bent over backwards to give Rovers fans the opportunity to carry on watching football at Ewood. People have there reasons for going to football and watching them, but I’m sure there will be flocks of Rovers fans coming back when we soon get back to how we know we can really play. As a fan, I’ll stick by the club and support them all my life. I’m sticking by them and fingers crossed we’ll be rewarded.
  2. I haven’t had time so far this week to go down and get my ticket yet but will be first thing tomorrow morning. Does anyone have a vague idea of how many tickets we have sold so far? Can’t imagine no more than two thousand making the trip.
  3. Didn’t this happen to Gillespie during one pre-season? He got sent off in one of the pre-season games and missed the first few games of the season due to suspension?
  4. Hmmm, are you sure it was the Giants DVD? I think I have got everything they have done and I dont remember this!! Have you got a link to it or anything? Cheers I’m positive it was the Giants one. I was thinking of buying it but I wasn’t sure that it was entirely worth all the money. No doubt the same type of interview will be played out on VH2 or The Amp in the coming months.
  5. It’s incredible. I can’t actually believe that one person has generated so much money as Abramovich has done. What I have noticed is that Mourinho in my opinion has had more of a say in the transfers at Chelsea. I did defend Ranieri, as I think he’s a quality manager and was treated unfairly. But one thing that I have noticed between Ranieri and Mourinho is that Mourinho stamped his authority on the place, told the board what he wanted and that’s final. I think Chelsea’s current spending since Abramovich has been at Stamford Bridge is currently at £182M. Drogba joins Chelsea
  6. Another win, despite it being on penalties can only spur confidence within the squad. From reading reports it seems the team for some reason is different. I’ll be looking forward to seeing the team play within the next ten days or so, with the new addition that we have made. The goals that Gallagher scored tonight can only make him more confident and make him a strong contender to be partnered up front alongside Stead. ROVERS WIN REUTLINGEN TOURNAMENT
  7. Thanks Cocker. I’ll definitely be getting that. I saw the DVD to, Standing on the Shoulders of Giants in HMV the other week, looked alright.
  8. Well said. The amount that Abramovich has spent in his short time at Chelsea is incredible. Chelsea has signed too many players for too much money in my opinion and for what? No success as of yet. Chelsea have signed some very good players, yet they have signed some players who haven’t really hit it off, players such as Mutu come to mind. Abramovich`s spending power is incredible to offer the amount of money to a club for a player, no matter who it is, is simply too much to reject. The players that they have added or are going to soon have to win something this year at Chelsea, or they will be deemed as failures in my opinion. NEW DUO AT STAMFORD BRIDGE LAMPARD TO SIGN NEW BLUES DEAL
  9. Bought Razorlight`s new album the other day, Up All Night. Have to say, I’m very impressed with it. The tracks that stand out for me at the moment are obviously, Golden Touch, Rock n Roll lies and Rip it up. Found Blur’s greatest hits the other day as well, some great songs on there.
  10. Thought this was very interesting. Souness has admitted it was a mistake in signing both Cole and Yorke. I don’t agree with this in my opinion, signing Yorke was a mistake, not Cole. Cole’s goals were hugely important in the first season he was here, without them I don’t think we would be in the position that we were in. Financially, spending £9M on two players and letting them go, is a mistake, as we really haven’t gained much from it. I seem to remember Souness praising Cole quite a bit when he was first here…… Souness blasts strike pair
  11. I understand the points that you have raised. dave birch – Yes, Cole did a lot better when Stead arrived. As I said earlier, that Cole had a better second half to the season. Cole, realised he had competition for his place, but Stead and Cole played well together, not just individually. In my opinion I am disappointed that Cole has been “forced out.” Things happen for a reason. However I still feel that even if Cole wasn’t going to get a huge amount of goals for next season he still had a major part to play in the team. I would like to see the replacement for Cole, if he’s good and will score more goals, then fine.
  12. The statistics don’t lie there. Cole did play well for the second half of last season but if Cole has been thrown out like he has, why not do it to Yorke and Todd? In my opinion it’s Souness getting his own back. I see the reasons, dave birch, Manchesterblue and others. But you have to agree, Cole probably along with Stead were our best players last season. Cole for several game ran his socks off, starved of service yet against Leeds when the chips were down, it was Cole yet again running his socks off, chasing down lost causes. I wish Cole the best in the remainder of his career. He contributed to our success in Cardiff, helped us get UEFA Football, be it a small sample, and with his goals we could be organising the beers for after the Burnley game. If we get a replacement then fine, we’ll judge him over the season; however I’m not convinced that Dickov is the man to replace Cole.
  13. Don’t think that’s true. Whoever the player maybe it’s clear that the club have got it under control. The player, I believe is under trial so Rovers have the right to release the identity under the player if they wish to do so. How can the bug clubs get him? Nobody knows who it is.
  14. This transfer story takes yet another twist. If Chelsea can get Drogba, I think they have got a brilliant signing. He’s a goal machine, strong, powerful with pace and can finish everything what a good striker needs. I’ve watched him a few times in the European Competitions last year and I was impressed with him, he does have a heated temperament if things don’t go his way. He ripped Newcastle apart with his pace, so he should do it to us. Drogba 'heading to Chelsea'
  15. There wasn't one. There was however a "player of the year" poll in which Cole came a very narrow 2nd behind Steadinho. But now Souey has offloaded Cole so as usual in the eyes of most* Cole was never any good anyway. *Tris being an honourable exception. The slating he's receiving from some quaters is ironic but yet so predictable isn't it Rev. Its just so sad that a player who I believe still wanted to play for the club and was still more than capable of producing the good's has literally been forced to walk away because the stubborn manager had no plans to play him this season...looks like the Brum game was his last game in Souness's eyes. Nobody comes out of this with any credit to be honest, the club just ends up looking like Billy Smarts f'kin circus...the whole damn situation is ridiculous! Many are rightly worried as to whether the money saved will be reinvested into the team or is it simply a case of Rovers saving money due to financial restriants?..we ALL wait with baited breath and a sweaty brow.......................... Well said. I agree with everything you said there. I also believe that from the interview that Cole have after the Birmingham game he wanted to stay at the club and put his differences away from Souness. In my opinion I think a full season with Cole and Stead up front is far more exciting and probably more beneficial for Stead, than Stead being partnered up front with Dickov unless we buy a striker before the season. Cole was forced out in my opinion simply because he didn’t agree with Souness. I’m annoyed with Souness again; all he’s done is thrown out a quality, proven goal scorer out of the club. Yet he isn’t prepared to get rid of others like Yorke, who are lazy and are just here for the money. How many more players is Souness going to dis-like? I’ve said it before, there’s something clearly not right at the club, for so many players to fall out with Souness since he has been the manager at the club, it says something about Souness now, not the players who have left, in my opinion.
  16. I think that Cole was sick of Souness, but after hearing several interviews from Cole, especially the one on Radio Rovers after the Birmingham game, I took it that Cole wanted to stay at Rovers and that Cole was prepared to put his differences and forget about them and concentrate on the job ahead. In my opinion I think it’s the time for Souness to go as well. I know we had a bad season but at times his tactics were wrong. What also really annoys me is that Souness has the drive to get rid of Cole, our top goalscorer last season. It looks as if Souness wasn’t and has got what he wants in getting him out. My question is, Souness has got rid of Cole but why can’t he pay off someone like Yorke? It’s not just Cole that has been forced out or that who has left its other players as well. Who is going to be the next player to leave or forced out by Souness, simply because that they don’t see eye to eye with him? I’ve said it a number of times on here, in my opinion there is something that is clearly wrong behind the scenes with the relationship between the manager and the squad that he has.
  17. Good post there, everything has been said more a less. I am disappointed in the way how Cole has gone, be it that he is still a Rovers play at the moment, but as time passes by he slowly becomes a Fulham player. What amazes me is that if Cole eventually does get paid of by the club, then why doesn’t Souness pay of the likes of Yorke and others? In my opinion it sums up the relationship between Cole and Souness. It seems Souness will do what he can to get rid of Cole. Philly Rover ® - the bit about, without Cole we look to thin up front is exactly right. Stead and Cole formed a threatening partnership in the time that they were together. Both changed their games, both players did a lot of running both on and off the ball for each other, to give the chance for the other striker the chance to score. I’d like to thank Cole for the service at Rovers. Yes, he may have played a few games where he hasn’t been up to scratch, but he did save us from relegation, he helped us to achieve European Football and he in my opinion with Stead was the main reason with the goals that both Cole and Stead scored was why we avoided relegation. I wonder what Souness`s opinion is on the reception Cole got of the fans after the Birmingham game?
  18. Would agree with everything there. The midfield now looks promising, my only concerns is that if we have similar injuries to key players like we did last season, we will be in trouble. With a month to go, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Souness is given some transfer funds to strengthen the squad. The Cole situation looks done now, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the “mystery trialist” will be signed up with another player possibly, after all Souness has only spent £150k, but has forced the club to spend money on Cole`s departure. Overall, looks a good team.
  19. You think? Just tell us who this unknown striker is, we’re going to find out sooner or later when we play the remainder of our pre-season games at the end of July and early August. Gr-eight opening to tour for Rovers Souness praise for players
  20. I’ll happily donate the cost of the Brfcs badge and maybe something extra. If I get chance to buy one this time. I’ll be at all the pre-season games from Stockport to Lisbon.
  21. Just seen this so thought I would post it. My guess is we’ll sell the allocation and take up another of just under three thousand going to Preston. I’ll be going, tickets are at good prices too, away pubs anyone? PNE Ticket Info
  22. Never heard of him. It’s good that we have won, but it’ll all about get the match fitness in the first couple of games of pre-season in my opinion then the results. I’m glad that we have won as it can only create confidence amongst everyone, I don’t know how good or how bad the opposition are, like to hear from the views of the fans of the board who managed to see the game.
  23. If Cole goes, he goes. For what ever reasons that he does go, I don’t agree with it. Cole was one of our best players at the club last season and really worked his socks off. Cole has said that he would see out the remaining year on his contract, but looking at it from a financial perspective, selling Cole would mean we get money now and we wouldn’t later. Could this be Cole`s replacement?
  24. Season ticket has arrived. In my opinion the club have done there best with it. The card looks alright, but comes with a little case, I presume that this is so that you don’t lose it, but we all will. Test match will be the Porto game, we`ll wait and see.
  25. I read in the Daily Mail today that Everton have had the same problems as us with the sales and renewals of season ticket sales. Everton last season had 28k season ticket holders, now they only have 20k season ticket holders. Everton’s chairman like ours wrote to season ticket holders asking them to renew and that the club needs the fans more than ever. However Everton’s season tickets did rise in price. The cost of an adult season ticket last year was around £350 (I think) but has gone up to £422. Can’t find a link for it.
