as ever with venkys and the contemptible waggot, they`ve done exactly the opposite of what they should have done, keep the lad till the end of the  season and get another 5/6 million for him in the summer,im`e certain crystal palace was`nt his choice of destination and eustace won`t see one penny of that money next season, you have to ask yourself, what happens when we run out of playing assets to sell,as it stands we are down to szmodics and carter as the only players who are worth any great value, once those two are gone then the cupboard is bare and we be royally f****d

    venkys out

    swag out

    broughton out

Hopefully the summer transfer window will be carried out, with us still in the Championship, but I agree, we will now no money again. Assuming that is the case and we again, either go for loans and freebies, or even press some wrong buttons, hopefully someone will take Waggott to task and ask where all the money is really going.

Makes a mockery of the whole integrity of a league that a team mid season can get 10 points deducted and then 4 points added back within the same season.

Especially as other teams have done even more than Everton, yet nothing done so far with them.

No. Gordon Harris was at No 11. I can’t for the life of me remember who was at No 10, maybe Arthur Bellamy or Ian Towers, but it was the full Burnley first team minus Jimmy Mac and Alex Elder who were playing for N. Ireland that night. The England representative team had about half a dozen England regulars in it.

I used to have that programme.

I was walking home from school and I saw the game advertised outside the “ Ellen Smith “ coach company ticket office. So it was a dash home for tea and then back for the coach over the tops.
It was a cracking game, end to end stuff, dozens of shots on goal. I can still see the Lofthouse goal in my minds eye. He chased a long bouncing ball down towards the corner flag. He caught up with it a couple of yards from the side line and about five yards in from the goal line. As it bounced up he caught it on the volley and it went past Blacklaw like a rocket. Like threading a needle.

Sounds great that and no doubt the game changing into what it is today, has been at the detriment of what was enjoyed in those days.

Slightly before my time, but I heard some great stories about the sixties and early seventies from Brian, when we had our weekly catch up every Wednesday.

I don't half miss those chats and especially the people from all walks of life who used to pop into his office to see him and reminisce.

Yes, Bert Cheeseborough was at Rosegrove Junior School in the same year as my Father-in-Law, he'd moved on to Leicester City by this time. His daughter, Susan, represented Great Britain at Gymnastics in the 1976 and 1980 Olympics ....

Was the late Brian Pilkington in that side, or had me moved on to Bolton by then?

  5. Very said that. I remember him coming into the side on a hiding to nothing, after we sold Roger Jones. He certainly earned his corn and got a move himself to Wolves.

My fondest memory of him, was him winning save of the season a Granada TV competition, with a brilliant double save and I remember going to school bragging about it, as I was one of only two Rovers fans in my class, despite it being a Blackburn based school.

The Liverpool, Leeds and Man U fans amongst my mates, were envious at the time.

RIIP Paul and my deepest sympathy to all his friends and family.

  6. The statement about the business being insolvent has been made so far as I know for several years. I don't see a player sale, granted a big one, will replace the on going declaration form the owners about their funding.

My feelings are, if the court block the funding, then something has to give, be that administration or a sale.

Poor match but much better when Bucky came on, first thing he did was turned someone and played a forward pass getting us into an attack, a lot better and glad to see him back. I think a midfield 3 of Fleck, Buckley and Tronstadt is pretty decent at this level. Buckley played very much the Adam Wharton role and got a hold of the game for us and killed it for them really. Garrett is nowhere near the required level right now, same for Ayari, forget those 2.

Fadz was class again, exactly what we needed. MoM

Small shout to Pears, didn't have to do too much but cleared his lines well and made saves when required. Seems safe hands to me.

Don't get me wrong, it was sh*t to watch but builds some confidence keeping a clean sheet. Hopefully if Bucky can find his feet it makes us a lot better to watch under Eustace and gives us that balance between his defensive style and brings back some ball retention we had under JDT.

Get Hedges back in for Norwich and have them bombing forwards like against Stoke and we might get something. Play like we did tonight and we'll get murdered. We need to take more risks against Norwich from the off and give them something to think about. If we stand off them it won't be easy to watch.

Buckley certainly has the potential to become a play maker. He has flattered deceive at times, but there is a player in there.

The court date could easily be postponed again also.

Maybe they will cite the Wharton sale as evidence the club can generate its own funds and deny them sending over money.

Bring on the administrator I say.

It has to go hand in hand with a message that they must sell the club. The accountants make a statement each year to say the club is reliant on the owners funding the shortfall each year, otherwise it is insolvent. They can hardly apply that statement to the next accounts, if the court are stopping the funding.

A lot of talk about a knockdown price for Adam, and whilst I'm critical of the deal and think we could have got a bit more in the summer, and that he will go on to be worth a whole lot more in the future, I'm not sure we can really talk about the club record fee in this way.

£22 million is more as less as much as could realistically be expected for a CM with only Championship experience. Unless you're a Jude Bellingham, who was a star at 17 and clearly a world class talent, and he only went for about £25 million about 4 seasons ago. I think we could have held out for more or less the same fee, and maybe by the summer we'd have been looking at about 26-28 million, but that's really about as high as it was ever going to go without us getting promoted.

What's frustrating is that this is due to the market economics of us being a Championship club rather than the actual ability of the player. All he was short of was showing he could hack it in the Prem. He's already showing that and is probably already worth £30 million if the window opened tomorrow, and probably about £40 million by the summer. Give it another season and we could be talking about £60 million.

The club better have worked a good sell-on clause into the deal. If not then we really have been low-balled.

Does it really matter what we got for him, as we are already told despite the record signing, we are skint.

With the Armstrong money and now this, we have had well over £30 million in, but just wait until the summer, as we spend nothing yet again.

They've had over 10million worth of assets seized already and the investigation into them is only just getting started.

The ED are strongly opposed to allowing them to send money over.

From the very beginning people were saying that things didn't look right and look where we are now.

They are obviously under serious scrutiny here and those who think it is a formality that the funds are going to be approved (I include Waggott in that ), may be in for a big surprise

Weve made 13 signings this season and only one so far is a definite success in Tronstad. Wahlstedt and Telalovic are beyond terrible, Hill was decent, Moran poor, Sigurdsson has scored a few but in general he is underwhelming and Ennis was shocking. Then have come Chrisene who im unsure about, McFadzean could provide some useful short term experience, Fleck isnt fit and Ayari and Koumetio dont seem close to the first team. O'Riordan is a squad option. Weve added some right dross all in all.

Mind you, the main issue is the budget cuts from the owners.

A manged decline in every sense of the word.

It was February 3rd last year when Broughton spoke publicly about the O'Brien and Brierley farce and he accepted full responsibility. This year he won't be speaking until some time in March. That's a long time to concoct a story. He will probably have been to Orlando by then and secured McGuire on a pre contract as some from of appeasement to us.

    It doesn't wash with me.

They have tried to make out it was a simple case of the wrong button being pressed.

In isolation that perhaps could be believed, but given what happened last year and also no person as yet has been held responsible, it beggars belief.

It remains to be seen how Broughton dresses this up, but I can't see him admitting to it being deliberate sabotage, as that is exactly how it appears to me right now.

I don't understand. They knew they would sell Adam. Why loan out Trav?

So much happened in Jan that this wasn't really brought up by the journos but seriously someone needs to be asking GB why we loaned out trav and sold out prime mf in Adam when leaving a gaping hole in the middle of the park.

Then we loan in fleck and don't even use him. Crazy

He was spending £3 per day on parking.

  14. Well the project has changed again. Perhaps it’s changed for the worse, as playing the way we did will not add value to anyone, in fact the total opposite.

Perhaps we will look back at the end of the season and deeply regret appointing Eustace, as I have a horrible feeling that the goals are about to dry up, big time.

Yes, we were very exposed at the back under JDT but with the slick movement and quick interchange, we looked capable of getting a few and as already said by two different posters, that system led to Szmodics, being pretty lethal. He will not get many more if any, if we carry on playing like this and neither will Gallagher.

Saturday has already become big and if we lose that, then I think the manager will be under a lot of early pressure and the fans may well be on his back, earlier than they perhaps should be.

Its becoming a real concern for me and I can’t help looking down the league and seeing us slipping into the drop zone. We need a couple of wins and quickly, but I don’t see where the are coming from, especially after that performance.

    'Ask Steve and Suhail'

I bet there were a hell of a lot of Rovers fans hearing that and saying 'who' ?

Your time in the shadows is up my friend it's time to step into the light and answer some straight forward questions with honest answers. That's all we ask and if there is nothing to hide then why do you ?

I suspect you are right about lots of fans not knowing who Suhail is.

I have always been vey suspicious about him and I am pretty sure he is in regular contact with the owners and is the one who makes the key decisions on a day to day basis.

I suspect for example that no signing can be approved without him giving it the green light and likewise withy a sale.

I think he will continue to try to hide, so maybe putting some pressure on him, is the logical way to get some real answers.

What I wonder is what the Raos will do if they need to go to court again, or the heat is turned up in India over dodgy money and they did something illegal. We all hope that they'd do the decent thing and finally sell the club, but can't they just say stuff it, not bother trying to send money and let the club fold completely? Would we be in a more terminal situation than administration?

The accountants will deem us to be trading insolvent, so you would hope the league would step in. If not then eventually we would go into administration. How long that would take is debatable.
