He doesn’t “learn” though. He misses far too many. Last night he didn’t even hit the target. I was right behind the goal. It was a bad miss, worse than Siggi, and should have been a goal

Pretty harsh that, as I reckon a bit more experience and a touch more confidence and he will gain the composure, to be finishing chances like that.

I think he will learn and will turn into a decent second tier striker, remember he is a young lad in his first season in the first team.

VAR would have given both penalties.

Gallagher arm was outstretched (unnatural) and in the slow mo replay he slaps the ball with his hand.

In the second half, Cucarella shoves the Rovers player to make him miss his header.

I agree on both counts there, that the penalties would have been given by VAR.

I do wonder if the push on Wharton was done with the defender knowing full well, there was no VAR. I suspect he would not have done that in a league game.

Not sure on the result but surely szmodics is nailed on to score? Away, in the cup and in London.

Does anybody know of anywhere local ish showing the game tonight? Do the blues bar usually announce it on the day if they're showing it? Cheers

I don't think there is any coverage in the UK. It is being shown overseas, in several different countries, including Spain, where I will watch it from.

A 'loan bonus' so in effect they pay them extra to bugger off elsewhere to get games meaning we save next to nothing on the pay roll anyway, or it even costs more.

Football eh, what an industry and we are supposed to then feel sorry for some of the little mites !

I have to admit, I was surprised when I saw that, but yes, only in the word of football.

  5. I have dealt with a mortgage from one of the current Rovers players and when he was on loan Rovers paid his basic wage, plus a loan bonus as well. Assuming we were receiving a loan payment from the club he was on loan to, perhaps we pay Buckley’s wage and a portion of what we get from Wednesday to him too. That money to Rovers from Wednesday may not be coming any more, unless the fans stump up. Perhaps it means we can recall him.

A very similar thing happened at Bolton when Anderson was the owner. They had a Forrest Green striker on loan, who they failed to pay and he went back, part way through.

Disgraceful individual...has his name plastered all over Hillsborough too.'Fit and Proper' Conman.

Then again it does appear he engages with the fans unlike our gobbins!

If the vultures are circling, he needs to look elsewhere for funds, not ask the fans ( some of whom he has been abusing) to bail him out.

A cretin on the highest order.

Not unless you are French or Norwegian.

It's daft that this competition can now be broadcast abroad, but not streamed by the clubs themselves.

It is on a few channels in various countries, including Spain, so I can get it.

It is silly that that Rovers TV can't show it, even if it was a pay per view, rather the than included in the season package they sell..

I hope this puts to bed the notion that they’re just a bunch of good lads coming on here for footy chat and bants.

They come on here to wind people up and gloat. They’ll be back when they are buying the league next season. Maybe sooner if they can string a couple of wins together.

They may not to quite as good next year, if they do come down. I have a feeling the yanks were somehow persuaded to spend big and back Kompany to excel in the prem. If it does backfire and they come back down, they could well tighten the purse strings and put an end to their yo yo years, at least between the prem and championship anyway.

The old adage of scoring when you are on top is really applicable today after we missed some glorious chances early on as we played some of our best football of the season. I'm convinced if we had scored first we would have won. But we didn't and Swansea grew into the game and took the game to us, had two goals disallowed and scored. It was during this period that confidence seemed to evaporate from some of our players. We were ponderous in possession, took too many touches, passed the ball poorly and generally were second best with too many passengers. In the first half I thought Swansea were better tactically than us as they passed out from the back with a spare man who we simply didn't press. The changes at half time made us better and we got on the front foot but still there were several elementary mistakes from a few players. We penned them in for much of the second half but I still felt Swansea were a real danger on the break with lots of pace in forward positions. We still contrived to miss a few easy chances and the game out me in mind of several this season when missed chances have cost us. Hopefully we can put today behind us and get a result at Norwich next Sunday

Put that early Brittain chance away and it was a different game. We have started like that about 3 times now.

Al Ettifaq in Damman play in a 35,000 capacity stadium and have an average gate this season of 8,206

Gates are falling despite the arrival of fading "stars", the league average is just 8,500 and most stadiums are huge.

All games are live on TV, I expect free to air.

Local attendances are irrelevant to sports washing.

MBS and the PIF own 4 clubs but not Al Ettifaq, which is hilarious as it's owned by the Ministry of Sports and guess who runs the whole show.

You can tell that he went there to enhance his career then and not for the money.

Because the new owners actually listened to their own supporters!

    Fanzone - complete success.

    season tickets - complete success.

matchday attendance - vastly improved and a complete success.

    matchday experience - complete success.

relationships with fans/media and local businesses - complete success.

football wise - on the up with a good set up - vastly improved and getting better.

They got a lot of their old fanbase back and more besides, due to the way they presented to way forward and the future for their club.

It is a pity, the decision makers at Ewood are not prepared to look at this model for some reason and at least embrace some of it.

Their current manager took some bedding in and had to accept an awful lot of stick initially, but has got it right and they are moving in the right direction again.

That may be so, but look where Bolton are now. They are definitely on the way back.

    I know they are.

They had a trip down to league 2 and most fans were prepared to accept that to get rid of the likes of Anderson and Houldsworth.

I hope we find good owners immediately after these lot leave, but was we saw BWFC it took more than one change of ownership.

Would you care to enlarge on “ they somehow might be worse “ ?

I know you didn't ask me and I therefore apologise for jumping in.

I follow what happens at Bolton a fair bit, not because I have any love for the club, but because my late ex- wife was from Bolton and I therefore have a lot of former in laws who lived in the town and support the club. My kids were also brought up there and went to school there and have mates who are Wanderers fans.

After Phil Gartside sold out, the club were bought by Ken Anderson and their former player, Dean Houldsworth. Funds used to buy the club, were mainly borrowed and there was a huge power struggle between, the two that Houldsworth lost.

Anderson took control and some of the things that happened to that club, were downright despicable.

A quick Google search for anyone interested will show what happened and is a prime example of the sort of thing that can happen, even after a sale to what appears to be, better custodians.

Another one that springs to mind is Portsmouth, who if my memory serves me correctly had 3 or 4 owners in a very short space of time, all of whom appeared to have ulterior motives.

I can't wait to see the back of Venky's, but there are no guaranteed that we will end up in the hands of decent people.
