It’s because we’ve all seen lesser tackles than that go for a red card. You lose faith in the end.

As Arbitro pointed out on the match day thread, a lot of the refs have a huge ego and that was my biggest concern.

I don’t know whether he held his hand up or not to help to get this overturned, but thankfully it was and it makes the defence a good deal stronger on Friday.

  2. Like others have already posted, he was a real super fan. I didn’t know him personally, but certainly knew who he was and saw him on many occasions up and down the country watching Rovers.

The thing I remember him most for, is being in the opening credits on match of the day with his Rovers flat cap on.

Rovers were a huge part of his life and something definitely needs to be done on Friday to mark his passing. If the club don’t do anything official, then the fans certainly need to. Maybe a big picture of him with that flat cap on, displayed on the big screen before the match or a rendition of there’s only one Alan Birkbeck sang on 18 and 75 minutes. A mention by the sky commentary team too, would be fitting.

Fans like him are once in a lifetime.

    RIP Birdy.

It's based on the last 40 years or so. If by 'interesting' you mean accurate then I agree. You've achieved very little in that time but at least these day you're no longer having to apply for re-election😉

If we want to extrapolate over a longer period, the last time you won a major trophy was 1938. For Blackpool it was 1953, Bolton 1958, Burnley 1960, Wigan 2013.  I've lost count of the major trophies we've won since 1938.

Whichever way to want to cut it, the Nobbers are the runt of the Lancashire litter.

Is that an R or a C in the fifty to last work of your post?

We may soon see him at Ewood again lining up for the opposition.

    Burnley and Palace also linked.

I would be surprised if he ever gets back to the level he did, when he hit the 24 for us.

His level is championship, so La Liga was always a step too far. If he ends up in the prem he won’t cut it. He may score a few at somewhere like WBA but think even double figures will be difficult.

Definitely. The contact on the Norwich player was as a consequence of Scott sliding in to win the ball. If he caught the man first I would accept the decision but he didn't. The contact is inevitable but contact alone doesn't make it a foul.

I made some enquiries on the way home !set night and Rovers have to have the appeal in today by noon and pay a deposit to do so (I really hope our financial situation doesn't preclude this). The appeal goes to three members of a panel of ex players and managers. There is a pool of these people and three are selected secretly and randomly. If the vote is 2:1 in the players favour the sending off is rescinded and no suspension to be served. Likewise 2:1 against and Scott will get a one match ban.

I would imagine anyone who has played or managed at a decent level who vote against that being a red.

In real time, I didn't think it was and now that I have seen a fee replays, it definitely wasn't.

Is the ref allowed to hold his hands up and admit it was a mistake, to help the situation?

If and when Wharton goes for peanuts in January, have an ask around you at Ewood for who’s to blame.

Who do you reckon will get most of the ire? That family that has run down this great club for a decade until it resembles this sad, diminished rump we now see… or will you hear more of that it’s due to our ‘shit fans and crap gates, we have no money and a small club, what do you expect?’

It’s ironic really, as even another 10,000 season tickets, at the current price, would not make a difference.

Venkys presided over the collapse and fall from the premier league in 18 months, so how anyone can blame anyone but them, is a mystery.

  7. Given what’s been posted in the accounts year on year, about the owners needing to plug the gap, perhaps a proper announcement now needs to be made, if they can’t fund us any more.

Assuming they can’t put anything at all in, then they need to sell, as it then means whoever comes in only needs to put £1 in to make them a better option.

I see BBD played the full game in a 5-0 win at lower league Chiclana in the Spanish Cup today.  He didn’t score.

Chiclana are a none league team, who play on the costa del sol, not far from Malaga. Ben failed to score yet again, despite playing for the full 90 minutes.

Looks like his confidence is shot and the fans are on his back.

It’s been a bad move for him and one he may live to regret.

The question is has he decided he’s happy with this or will he be off as soon as any half decent alternative is offered to him.

Make no mistake about it, he will be off at the very first sniff of interest elsewhere and who can blame him.

The club simply do not have the same ambition as he does and his comments in the press, are tantamount to him saying, come on fire me if you want.

Just makes you wonder what the point of it all is. I’ve given years of my life, thousands of pounds, lots of time travelling to 30 grounds overall, to watch us become a club that prioritises polishing up players for other teams to eventually buy.
    Lovely.

This does become more annoying the more things like this are said.

Roll up, roll up, get your tickets for Carrow Road at £x per pop. Pay that lovely travel cost and spend half of your Sunday traveling up and down the UK roads. Make sure you set the alarm early for the 12.00pm kick off.

Watch the lads lose, but do so in style. Receive the plaudits of the opposing manager and the Sky sports team and add a few thousand to their value.

We are Blackburn Rovers 2023 Farte y laborious!!!

Developing them for other clubs it would seem.

Maybe that’s ‘where we are’ but there’s no need, imo, for JDT to state it so publicly.

He has done this a few times now and without knowing what goes on behind the scenes, perhaps it is something he needs to do, to retain his sanity.

I know posters on here have said it out of frustration and anger, but if there is no real desire to get into the premier league, perhaps he now sees the job as a road to nowhere. He is probably telling the fans what most of us already know and this it we are owned and run by a load of chancers.

As we saw this morning, with the snapshots form the BBC website, some fans still see Venky's as badly advised and insist that they are good owners.

I applaud JDT for putting the message out there, that this is simply not the case.

  12. 3 minutes ago, wilsdenrover said:

I really like JDT but I wish he wasn’t coming out with things like this…

He said: "You saw how we can play football, a very clear way of playing football against a good Premier League side."

Tomasson added: "Every Premier League club wants good players who can play football, who can defend as well. Otherwise, there is no reason to buy my players."

almost certainly a message that to show that he is succeeding with the project.
