  1. Me? I wouldn't say a word. How are Supergrass pretentious?
  2. If people in 50 years time aren't acknowledging the players that won us our only ever Premiership title (baring a miracle) then they will be far more ignorant than anyone who is voting for him now.
  3. I did start of with the intention of voting Stuart Ripley no matter what anybody said, he's my favourite Rovers player I've ever seen and had certain England managers had more sense he would be my favourite England player of all time too. However, the strength of the argument for Douglas is overwhelming and, having read all the reports in here, there was really no other option for me than to vote for the man. I have to admit that I didn't know much about him before this topic came along but if the reports are accurate than I'm quite jealous of anyone who was around to see him play for us, even if he was only half the player that had been described in here he would be worthy of my vote over Ripley.
  4. Does anybody listen to Eagles of Death Metal? I've been listening to them for a few months now, they've slowly made their way to the top of my favourite bands list... Josh Homme (QOTSA front man) is in the band, although he's called Carlo Von Sexron, he's on the drums and does singing, I believe the album was released through his record label as well. There's some live songs you can download off their site, these are my favourites: I only want you Speaking in tongues Kiss the Devil They also seem to have the coolest guy in the world in the mix too...I'm sure you'll work out which one he is:
  5. Can't believe Hughes played Emerton on the left after how well he's done on the right recently, he may have some confidence back but messing him about won't help it stay there. I've noticed Hughes do it with Wales and it looks as though we might have to expect the same, a midfield where people are shifted left, right and centre with players often on the 'wrong' side. We have to ditch Amoruso before he does us any more damage and preferably Matteo too, Short has to come in. We need a settled partner for Ferguson, Tugay is obviously not the man so it will have to Flitty/Reid/Douglas/Thommo. None of them are ideal, in a strange way Reid would probably be the best if he could adapt to that role because of his athletic qualities. With everyone fit I think we should line-up something like this: Friedel Neill Short Johansson Gray Emerton Reid Ferguson De Pedro Stead Jansen Johansson has never really done anything wrong when he's been picked, he's certainly a better option than Amoruso. When (if?) De Pedro gets himself in good condition then we'll have a quality left winger. The bench would look quite healthy too with Todd, Thompson, Dickov and Djorkaeff who could all come on. With regards to Djorkaeff, I'm wondering whether Hughes has actually given himself more problems than answers by putting him in the starting 11. He doesn't really score enough to justify a position up front, especially as we don't have a striker we can rely on for goals. I think a role coming on from the bench if we need to try harder to open teams up would suit him well, I still feel potentially Jansen and Stead is our best combination for getting goals.
  6. How ironic... You really are a total and utter clown, I can't believe how ignorant you must be not to realise it.
  7. Interesting theory on Rooney's brilliance (The Times)
  8. Seems that Gerald says Reid has come more central and Djorkaef has slid left?Dickov alone up top,i believe.Unfortunately, his commentary has been lacking in description of the formation Florida Rover Cheers, that would certainly seem to make the most sense. Let's hope Reid has a good game in the centre and provides us with a solution to the central midfield problem...A.K.A Tugay.
  9. Urgh forget it, it's like arguing with a 5 year old. Tugay was indeed stupid, sounds like both bookings were completely needless. Anybody know what formation we're playing now?
  10. You've just undermined your argument with that comment...saved me doing it I suppose.
  11. He's still managed to be better than Amoruso recently.
  12. Barry apologises to Scotland fans Good lad, if I saw 1800 Scots I'd probably be tempted to swear them too.
  13. Then you put metal bars up every so often to stop this happening...it's bloody easy. I'm not of the opinion that one disaster out of goodness knows how many matches should still be affecting our game. That might upset some people but if we re-acted like this with every incident that happened then there'd be nothing left in this world, we'd have no cars, no trains, no planes... There were lessons to be learned from the incident, better regulations of ticketing, better policing and stewarding, support bars to prevent crowd surging...but to abolish the whole thing entirely has took away something from the game I feel.
  14. Sorry...but were you watching the same game? I've been very critical of us in the past for using long balls but there was none of that yesterday, some of the passing moves were excellent and we were very patient in possesion, having Rio Ferdinand in defence and a play-it-simple Nicky Butt instead of a 50-yard-ball-to-Owen Steven Gerrard in midfield meant that we kept hold of the ball superbly.
  15. I thought the same...but against better teams I don't think we could play three strikers, I think it would be Lampard at the attacking point, Gerrard on the left then Rooney up front in place of one of the other strikers. Beckham will not be dropped and Gerrard has to play...it will be interesting to see what happens.
  16. Grow up? You didn't like it so you spat the dummy and changed the channel? Almost every nation will boo the opposition national anthem, especially in a game between two countries so close together.
  17. As much as I was angered by what happened that is completely over the top, people have booed in minute silences and before and booing a national anthem is just banter, I can't understand why people get so upset by it. Back to the game...I thought England were superb, so many attacking options and with Campbell and Ferdinand back we looked really solid in defence. I haven't been fan of the diamond in the past but today Sven played it right, he had a proper holding midfielder instead of asking Lampard to do it and we had an attacking midfielder in Rooney who looked like he was going to create something every time he got the ball as opposed to carrying Scholes as we used to. Having said that, Wales were awful. I've never been a fan of Hartson and today just backed that up, on the few occasions he managed to get hold of the ball he used it terribly, the strange choice of header in the six yard box being an example. Hughes did us a big favour today by constantly messing with his midfield; Giggs, Koumas and Bellamy all had turns on either wing and it just made them look so disjointed going forward, if he brings the wing swapping tactic into our team then we're going to struggle...Gabbidon was good for them with some excellent blocks, I'd love to see us sign him, he's the sort of pacey defender who could compliment Short superbly. Wouldn't touch any of the other realistic targets with a bargepole to be honest, unless Koumas can find the form he showed for the last few years.
  18. You would have missed England V Wales to go and watch tonights game if it were being played tomorrow? Fair enough, your choice I guess.
  19. The England team to start tomorrow has all but been confirmed by people from within the camp, this is how we are almost certain to line-up: Robinson Neville Campbell Ferdinand A. Cole Butt Beckham Lampard Rooney Defoe Owen It's a big risk in such a huge game but it looks a strong team, the only major doubt really is whether the front 3 can work together and whether Lampard can adjust to playing slightly left. Say what you will about Eriksson...he's not afraid to take risks when it comes to team selection, he's showed it in the past and is showing it once again if that is indeed the team that walks out tomorrow night.
  20. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...... Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr what?! FFS!
  21. With Wayne Bridge, Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen out it's going to be an interesting team selection. I'm guessing we'll probably line-up like this: Robinson Neville Campbell Ferdinand A. Cole Beckham Lampard Butt J. Cole Defoe Rooney Personally I'd play Hargreaves ahead of Butt but I don't think Eriksson will do that. I think we'll win this one, it will be a tough game but I think we've got too much for Wales to handle. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The squad doesn't seem to have been mentioned anywhere so I'll stick it here:
  22. you couldn't see my fullstop then There was no fullstop there at first. Amoruso is doing his best to give them a goal by the sounds of it, Freidel saving him. Bloody liability I tell you!
  23. Emerton out to the left and Flitcroft onto the right? Sounds like we're doing well, a draw seems about right up to this point though. Edit: Hush my mouth, Emerton scores.
