  1. I knew there was something fishy about that: ROVERS: Friedel, Neill, Mokoena, Nelsen, Johansson, Emerton, Savage, Tugay, Pedersen, Gallagher, Dickov. Subs: Enckelman, Flitcroft, Short, Reid, Bothroyd. No Stead again, what the hell is Hughes doing? Why does Gallagher get so many chances, Jansen has played far better than him this season but has been pushed out. I hope Hughes isn't one that has favourites, but his treatment with Matteo, Johansson (not in a good way) and Gallagher suggests he might.
  2. Interpol. Genius'...they really are. Listen to them.
  3. Interesting the way the team lineup was put on the official site: Rovers likely squad: Friedel, Neill, Nelsen, Mokoena, Johansson, Emerton, Tugay, Savage, Pedersen, Dickov, Gallagher No goals again then, unless MGP can save us. That's if that team is true...
  4. When do tickets go on general sale?
  5. Liverpool are winning 2-0. Garcia, Riise Right. Well my crystal ball must be broken. Or your anti-English stance backfired?
  6. Why is Johnson on the bench ahead of Stead and Gallagher? He's got a bit of pace, that's it. Gallagher can't play with Dickov either...why is he given game after game when Jansen was scoring goals before his injury at Christmas? Ironic that, as an ex-striker, Hughes seems to be getting everything right except the strikers. Can't believe Stead wasn't included today, he scored midweek and I'm guessing would have been full of confidence after that...he certainly looked it on the highlights on RW. Johnson and Gallagher/MGP wouldn't be good enough for Division One, let alone a Premiership side. On the plus side...Todd and Nelsen look very solid, Savage is 10 times the player Ferguson is and Neill/Johansson look good at full back. Hopefully Reid will play ahead of Tugay, he's far more combatitive.
  7. The figures I put were released this week. If those were published in March last year then they'll be for 2003. If you look at the positions in brackets in mine, you'll see that they match those in yours... Tut tut. Edit it, it's ugly an unnecessary.
  8. 1 (1) Manchester United - £171.5 million 2 (4) Real Madrid - £156.3 million 3 (3) AC Milan - £147.2 million 4 (10) Chelsea - £143.7 million 5 (2) Juventus - £142.4 million 6 (7) Arsenal - £115.0 million 7 (13) Barcelona - £112.0 million 8 (6) Inter Milan - £110.3 million 9 (5) Bayern Munich - £110.1 million 10 (8) Liverpool - £92.3 million 11 (9) Newcastle United - £90.5 million 12 (11) Roma - £72.0 million 13 (18) Celtic - £69.0 million 14 (16) Tottenham - £66.3 million 15 (15) Lazio - £65.8 million 16 (-) Manchester City - £61.9 million 17 (14) Schalke - £60.5 million 18 (-) Marseille - £58.3 million 19 (-) Rangers - £57.1 million 20 (-) Aston Villa - £55.9 million 2002-2003 placing in parenthesis.
  9. i hope so... it just looks cleaner. Not if you poo in them. Blue please.
  10. 4-5-1: 1-1 draw or 2-1 defeat, Norwich are in pretty decent form and are good at scoring goals, they have a slight problem at the back but with a 4-5-1 I don't think we could trouble them that much. 4-4-2: 2-1 win, I think we're capable of out scoring them at home as long as we're positive. Norwich are quite attack minded, I'd hate to think we'd be the more defensive of the two sides at home. Team: Friedel Nelsen Mokoena Todd Johansson Emerton Flitcroft Savage Pedersen Jansen Dickov Subs: Encks, Neill, Reid, Tugay, Stead
  11. By an absolute mile I may add... Norwich have Ashton and Huckerby (power, pace and skill) West Brom have Kanu and Earnshaw (pace, creativity and a natural goalscorer) Palace have Andy Johnson (15 goals on his own...nearly the same as our whole team) When Harry Redknapp came to Southampton he said that the current team wouldn't even get them out of the Championship...I feel we're at that stage now because I look at teams down there and even they have better strike-forces than us. Plenty of people taking the p*** out of the Birmingham fan on here but they have Heskey, Morrisson and Pandiana...any of whom would walk into our team. If we went with two strikers, preferably two from Dickov, Jansen and Stead, then I think that would be good enough to keep us up. 4-5-1 is insane with the players we have at our disposal. What the hell is going on with Jansen anyway? None of this "he's past it blah blah blah" nonsense please, before Christmas he was starting games and scoring goals...wasn't Birmingham the last game he started...and didn't he score in that? So what since then has changed Hughes' mind about playing him? Sure as hell can't be the other players keeping him out of the team.
  12. Why has Hughes suddenly decided to go back to the 4-5-1 formation which made us useless the first time he used it? We have to score GOALS to stay up, Dickov isn't going to get that many on his own so he needs a partner. We were looking really solid when we were playing 4-4-2 so what's the point in changing...for an ex-striker this is just baffling and it's getting on my nerves now. He better sort his head quickly or we're going down.
  13. I'll go for 1-1 in this, no idea why...just a feeling. Can't understand why everyone is putting Pedersen up front when he looked like the only player created anything from midfield against Chelsea, personally I'd go like this: Friedel Nelsen Todd Mokoena Johansson Emerton Tugay Savage Pedersen Dickov Jansen
  14. How many times have we had a striker good enough for England recognition? Only illness stopped him gaining a cap and probably a place in a World Cup squad. Not saying he should win the second place, I don't think he should...but saying he's in the same bracket as Wegerle is absurd.
  15. Lucas Neill put in the worst performance from a full back I can ever remember...surpassing even his own terrible performances in the past. An athelete? Yes. A footballer? Absolutely not. Pedersen was easily our cleverest player, Dickov worked has balls off and had some good touches but needs a partner (needs to work on that penalty technique, what's with the rushing?), Friedel was terrible for their goal...stick a leg out and he saves it, why try and use your hands? 4-5-1 won't keep us up because we don't have an Andy Johnson at the attacking end compensating for the lack of a second striker and Neill and Matteo will mean doing Everton-style 1-0's will be very rare. Stick Mokoena back in defence, Nelsen on the right, Johansson on the left and give Dickov Jansen or Stead to play alongside with Johnson providing something different from the bench and we should be ok.
  16. I've gone for a couple of bets...Savage to score 1st goal at 25/1 looked good as there's always a chance he'll knock in a free kick...I've also done another bet for us to win 1-0 with Savage scoring, got 120/1 for that. I just feel we may keep it tight for the whole game then Savage will put away a set piece. Here's hoping anyway.
  17. I've gone the route of OssyDave and put money on the game...a 1-0 win via a Savage goal (I'm thinking free kicks you see...) would see me get £400 or so....here's hoping anyway. According to BBC, Jansen is back in the squad so I'd like to see him play, he did score in his last game afterall and has 2 goals in 3 starts...he's worth a go if Dickov is out. With Chelsea playing the way they do there's probably only one formation that we can use and that's 4-5-1, otherwise Lampard, Makelele and Tiago would overrun us in the centre. Friedel Neill Todd Mokoena Johansson Savage Tugay Thompson Emerton Pedersen Jansen Subs: Enckelman, Matteo, Reid, Flitty, Stead
  18. How can we complain about loyalty after what we did with Tony Parkes? It works two ways...
  19. Could be premature ! Does that still happen at his age? Sadly, that's not the most disturbing thing I've read on here today.
  20. Really? I hope they all die in horrific car accidents, preferably painful. Balls if this offends anyone, if you have Diouf near your shirt you're supporting scum. See second sentence for punishement. Actually...I would hurt Diouf if I knew where he lived... Edit: No, sorry, I meant blood. I'd kill the pricks.
  21. Hah....you prick. It's one thing giving views to shock...it's another to talk crap unknowingly. Please go away, racism nor teenage football talk is a topic of interest to people other than you. Cleverly, you combine the two, good luck with that. Being a w***** isn't as easy to hide as pulling the covers over your head though. Shame.
  22. Bloody hell... 1) Mokoena is an excellent signing, he's everything you could wish from a centre half. £300,000 is a bargain, we'll be talking about him as a Hughes bargain in a few years. 2) Bothroyd is crap. Admit it whilst it's early, just....let go. 3) Write Stead off? He was given a crap through ball but adjusted his balance to feed Johnson. The guy is class, just feed him properly and we've got a top striker on our hands.
  23. But isn't that the tactic Birmingham used to get an inflated fee for Robbie Savage? For all the criticism of the way Birmingham handled the transfer, they got the fee they wanted, which was arguably more than what he is worth.
  24. Jansen has looked no worse than the rest of our strikers this season, in fact at times he has looked better than most. He's better than Bothroyd, I don't see that there's any doubt about that. He's worth a one year contract, I'd be pretty upset if we let him go without giving him a proper run this season.
  25. Fantasy preview. Can't see anything other than a Robbie Savage inspired win in this one, Bolton are still looking poor despite a recent improvement. I'll go for 2-0 to us. Team: Friedel Nelsen Mokoena Todd Johansson Emerton Thompson Savage Pedersen Stead Jansen 2 goals in 3 starts for Jansen...surely worth a start given the number of goals everyone else has scored. Gally hasn't impressed by all accounts and Bothroyd looks like a Division One player.
