By all means we should express surprise, it’s the automatic conclusion by many that the manager is clueless that winds up the more open-minded fans.

This - throw in expressions like "Tony's Tombola" and the lack of respect is irritating.

Difference between "not sure i agree with that line up" and a number of posts on here...

Think he is being political tbh. A reasonable return to the championship all in all and going off in the media prior to the break would risk morale. Think he will be bollocking them when they return to training

There's no way we are spending 6m to develop a player. He will be a major player for us expected to perform very well out of the blocks.

For whatever reason Tony obviously reckons Brereton has got the quality to make a big immediate impact. If he didn't we would not be signing him for huge money. We don't have the resources for long term bets. He'll go straight in at the sharp end if/when he signs.

Young enough to accept being replaced by Graham after 60 minutes. Good enough to improve our first 11 if we accept that DG can't do 90 minutes given that Samuel and Nuttall are the options. Young enough to improve and adapt to different formations.

Sure - needs to make a quick impact to avoid any comparisons to Davies but that is unavoidable given the fee

  4. Be interesting to follow this one. Suspect he is Smallwoods replacement IF TM can get him interested whilst also covering CB if injuries pile up.

Could be a total waste of a shirt but could be an inspired signing. Casual fans know his name from the premier league, with TM and a psychologist he could improve our first 11 or at worst our bench.

    Fingers crossed

Without strengthening we're a bottom end Championship team. It's possible we could avoid relegation due to there being teams worse than us, but is that a position we're happy for this club to be in? Venky's are already squandering last season's momentum and good will, as I knew they would, and if we don't start well Mowbray will get sucked into that negative spiral too.

For me i would be happy to be a championship club come August 2019 provided there is a sensible plan for recruitment with the vision being playoff contenders in 2-3 years with a reconnected fanbase and a hungry team that are on sensible (for football) wages. Any sales should be planned in advance by raising the overall standard of the squad/u23

Personally prefer the above to paying desperate money to mercenaries and bring back the Murphy, Best, Etuhu and the wanker rightback whose name i have forgotten just now....
