Interesting bit in the newsletter (cheers for the email, @Mhead2 ) about the 23rd December being the next Trust takeover day and hoping for a 20k crowd.

Obviously Watford won’t fetch too many, so to get close to that kind of crowd I presume it’s been agreed with Swag that it will be a tenner?

Good choice of game, as it will presumably still be an afternoon KO and there will be plenty of exiled fans arriving back for Christmas, families getting together and taking in a game, more enticing than our other festive fixture (NYD) etc.

Who knew a bit of knowledge about the locals could go so far, eh?

Why don't the trust take up a full page advert something like ...

"MISSING : OWNERS OF BRFC , if found please inform us "

    OR

"BRFC : LOOKING FOR OWNERS FOR PREMIER LEAGUE PUSH" 😀

If enough Trust members suggest/support the idea…

Good scoreline from a Rovers point of view but it amounted to little more than a training game and Harrogate were pitiful and their manager insulted the competition and embarrassed the club's fans by fielding such a weak team. It's about time clubs were sanctioned for doing it

Only bit I disagree with because surely all players registered to the club should be eligible to play. It’s a squad game and nobody but the manager/head coach should get to decide who plays.

A kiss on the lips to the continental types, particularly in that neck of the woods, is like a handshake to us in blighty. Without knowing anything about the context I’ll wager there’s previous beef between these two which she’s using to full advantage

On the cheek maybe, but not the lips. Consent is still a thing.

Had safari on both iPad and mobile for years. So can’t see it being that. Will give it a go later.

Not had any issues since I started using Chrome, but Safari gave me issues intermittently for years.

Funk is obviously a legend and will be missed, but got to a good age considering what he put his body through.

Bray Wyatt... that's horrible. Sounds like he has something similar to Keith Lee insofar as COVID causing heart issues. Absolutely gutting. Say what you will about him, but he is one of if not the most creative mind involved in wrestling in the last decade. He's been part of a lot of memorable moments.

My favourite was the ’gunshot’ moment as Roman Reigns speared someone on a Raw. It was a simple and subtle gesture but it just looked so fucking cool.

This is one that has really upset me, up there with Eddie, Benoit, and Brodie for how gutting it is as a fan.

FYI the UK media is predominantly London based , especially since the 1990s when the national newspapers began shutting their Manchester production facilities and a press already tilted towards the south outside of the “ big clubs” became even more biased in its coverage of football and  news generally

Rovers in our glory years were never given the credit we deserved because we were seen as a small town club that had risen above our status and were dismissed as “moneybags Blackburn” and other disparaging comments by the London based press.

That indifference has continued to this day as there has never been a real investigation at national media level over Venkys and their destruction of our club.

And we’ve sunk so far out of their consciousness that now they even failed to mention that Brad Friedel spent most of his career at Ewood Park and was is apparently a former Liverpool and Tottenham player

Sorry about the long post but I felt I needed to clear up what appeared to be a misunderstanding on your part

I understood entirely (although I appreciate the well considered reply). I was just making a geography joke…

I watched the full game back and yes it very damning of his positional and he should be 2 yards further over but whether he would saved it anyway I don't know and that's something I don't know or none of us do.

I do think we need to moved on people comparing him to Kaminski tho.

on Subbuteo, what a great game that was. Remember spending hours each night playing it in my younger days as a child.

@Mike EI can't believe going about Earps's save and obsessing over stills of it. I watched it in real time(that's it) and not spending hours taking stills and watching replays of one save. I wouldn't compare the women game of football to men's football either. I had the women's final on the TV whilst doing other things.

It didn’t take hours, it took about two minutes, unless you’re an incompetent user of a smartphone

I’m not comparing ‘women’s and men’s football’, I’m comparing two goalkeepers and speaking as a goalkeeper (and I won’t lie, it’s also a bit because I found it amusing that their name are anagrams).

You have the confidence to describe it as a routine save despite (according to you) barely watching the game, and in the meantime seeing Pears’ positioning AND failing to to attempt to save for the second goal as acceptable. That shows you know nothing about goalkeeping.

That Earps save is not ‘routine’, it is definitively superb. She has stretched to tip the ball around the post, having been unsighted by three of her own defenders blocking her view of the initial shot.

Far from comparing the two, I believe they are entirely different. Pears’ goalkeeping was substandard, and Earps delivered the kind of saves we came to expect from Friedel.

The reason for my comparison is purely because you implied an expectation of far higher standards of a woman’s goalkeeping than you do of a man’s goalkeeping, and I believe it is one of three things:

    1. Trolling because it was me mentioning Earps.

    2. A blind spot when it comes to mediocrity at Rovers.

    3. Sexism.

If Pears had pulled off that Earps save and Earps had positioned like that, you would STILL (albeit correctly) praise Pears and criticise Earps. That is my problem.
