  1. To this end, I equate it much with Souness going to Newcastle when the writing was on the Ewood Park walls that his tenure was coming to an end.

Eh? He moved because Newcastle (Big club mk 2) came in for him. They wouldn't have waited for us to sack him, so I think he went where the money was. There was absolutely nothing compassionate about it, except that coincidentally it 1) stopped him being branded a failure again (a feat which he managed to achieve in spades a mere year later) and 2) stopped us paying to get rid, and potentially being too nice guys and leaving it until we couldn't be rescued.

  2. 1 year of decent service. 4/5 of leg breaking, free kick conceding, penalty conceding, possesion conceding suspension ridden dross.

    Not fair

It was two years of decent service (the 2 years his contract was coming up for renewal)

I've never known another full-back who got QUITE as many cards!

  3. Mike, in defence of pleasure it was clearly an "Addendum" to his post, I've re read it a few times and you have to take a left at the lights to read it as you did.

As for the addendum itself, I actually agree with him, there are a couple of muppets on the road with us that aren't doing us any favours, it needs a few of us to put them in the rembrandt next time, I'm up for it if you are.

Are they home fans also, if so where do they sit, anyone know who they are?

I almost certainly know the ones you mean. The same ones that were singing homophobic songs at the Reading goalie. I suggest taking their picture and trying to get the club to act, although that's probably safer for me than you! If they're at Watford tomorrow and we're not told to "sit wherever we like" then I'm sure I'll need to take their photos for something!

  4. When you are on the topic of past players being booed.

I was disgusted that Alan Shearer was booed by quite a large minority when we defeated Newcastle 5-2 that day and also when Shearer went on to score his 300th and 301st career goals that day. After all he done for us, I was really disappointed by this.

In fairness if it was a small minority that you could barely hear you would get over it, but for it to come from all four sides of the stadium was very, very sad. A true professional who done a hell of a lot for Rovers was a disgrace that day.

He was booed because of the way he treated Rovers fans after he left. At St James Park, the first game after he left us, we all gave a loud chorus of Shearer, Shearer before the game. He kept his back resolutely to us for the entire time. Contrast that with Henning Berg at Manure, who when we sang his name, came OVER to us and clapped.

The man had no grace or class, therefore deserved what he got. He also got an ovation as he went off after his 300th goal, and, I believe, didn't acknowledge the Rovers fans.

  5. After what I've been reading, I'm sure no one on here has ever chosen a job because it pays either more than their current one, or pays best of all the jobs they have been offered...

I've chosen NOT to take a job which paid double what I was on at the time because I'd be forced to move around loads and be doing something I didn't love.

  6. Knee ligament damage isn't easily healed. Even after considerable time away from strenous exercise like football or even jogging, the ligaments don't heal to the same state as they were in before the injury.

Rehab of course does help to strengthen the muscle and REDUCE not ELIMINATE the chance of the same injury happening again.

Don't understand what you are implying by the jealousy comment though.

I thought his hamstrings were the problem?

Sorry- I must have mistaken you for the person who came on here and basically didn't want Dunny back because he'd once been his friend but chose not to hang round with him any more. I've just noticed you're in London so that wouldn't have been you.

  7. Dunn signed a 4 year deal in the summer of 2003 and within that deal there was the option of an extra year. However i don't see how this all works, because in theory he is in the last 6 months of his deal now, so should he not be allowed to negotiate a free transfer?

Birmingham would be stupid to keep him on for another year at the same wages just to spite us and miss out on over a million as well. Just can't see it. I still think Dunn has been very clever by talking to notlob and making sure the press found out.

edit: 53 starts in 3 1/2 seasons and 8 goals.

According to Bruce, the final 2 years would be at extortionate wages. Even the porn kings wouldn't be that stupid.

  8. Oh never knew that. Whats up with him. But also even though he is injured alot of the time one week he gets a look in then doesn't for a while. I like Matt Derbyshire he seems a good player but Gally is alot better.

Gally was sitting near me, and when we thought Matty Derbyshire had equalised he jumped up and then put his head in his hands when he realised he hadn't. In the players and wives bit, he was the only one to do it- so he stood out!

    Obviously a real supporter

  9. It just said on RockFM news that Mark Hughes is in talks with Birmingham in an attempt to hijack the deal. No quotes or sources or anything, it was just on the news roundup.

According to a friend of a friend, and I'm not sure how reliable this is, We wouldn't pay Dunny's personal demands. As I said- not sure how reliable, but thought I'd say it anyway.

  10. Reserves got beaten last night, with Joe Garner scoring his eight reserve team goal of the season. Not a bad tally playing for a side fielding youth + donkey Matteo. Did anyone watch this?

Brown, Taylor, Matteo, Nolan and Peter with senior appearances to show for in the XI last night, hardly proven Premiership players any of them though. No familiar names in the Man City XI except keeper Schmeichel (who's surely well past his best now?) and Danny Mills.

    Rovers.co.uk report

    Think it was Schmeichel JUNIOR!!!

  11. Actually attended two matches... Just not this season.

Oh and FYI, this argument wasnt actually about a footie 'match', Stu was right and i was wrong, or should i say the website was wrong... :tu:

Sorry, can't be arsed reading what it's about in detail. You obviously have no concept of "LEAVE IT". You're boring us all, and annoying regular contributers. Unless you have something useful or informative to say, PLEASE stop the whining on this particular thread.
