  1. He was far from crap today.

Yes, what's far worse than Crap? He was that and more. I didn't get there till 20 minutes gone, but the proportion of passes that went to Liverpool directly (bad pass) or indirectly (through kicking the ball "inadvertently" out of the pitch) was disgusting. At times it was like we were 10 against 12.

  2. Put two men on the posts when defending from either corners or free kicks.

    It ain't rocket science.

Brad did, then the dimmer one (Gray) just wandered off becuse there was a shiny bauble somewhere else (or some such similar excuse) which left Tugs to go to where he thought more danger was. Wrong!

Ps I was the one screaming "for F*CKS sake Gray, stand where you're ****** told, will you" at every corner!

  3. Oh - and Jan????

What happened to him "honing his fitness for us now" - since you posted that comment 95 days ago, Dunn has played in 1 cup and 3 league games - two of which Brum lost!!

Now he's posing on TV with Santa and joking about mince pies!!

What's he going to be like when he's back in the pubs and clubs of Harwood and Blackburn NOT honing his fitness?!

    Sad, sad, sad!

  4. What was your first Rovers game? At home to Shrewsbury or something? Purposely pick an unnattractive tie to make sure people knew you were the most dedicated of all fans?

If you were developing an interest in football today and wanted to go to a match at Ewood, would you choose Charlton or Liverpool to sample the delights of the Premiership standard game? But wait, you aren't on the database, you're not in the club, you can't come to that game. Why don't we start you off with something lighter, let's say Newcastle. So we'll have your £25 for that, and now you can have a Liverpool ticket. That'll be another £36.

Obviously in the wake of the City game way back when, it was necessary for the club to react in a way that would clamp down on away supporters infiltrating home areas. But posters here have told of numerous times when genuine attempts to get tickets to big games have been turned down. Or fans not being able to buy more tickets than they usually get. We can't seem to tempt back those fans who have walked away from Ewood, and we're making it harder to get new ones to come to games.

We're only making it difficult to get to games where the away end sells out. This shows common sense. And anyone who really believes that just because smoeone has a Blackburn accent they won't be a Liverpool supporter is naive at best.

  5. Brownie and the truth.

LOL....I'd rather believe the rumours he gets from reading the red tops he has looked at in the newsagents.

And unsuprisingly he fails to get censored for calling fellow posters ** very naughty boys.

Actually, I noticed that last thing too- although I'd have said censured (although censored also works). But then there is one rule for favourites.

  6. It's no news that Johhny Foreigner can take time to adapt to the PL, which to my mind puts a big question mark over Hughes's decision to fill the front places with two of them at the same time. Roberts wasn't first choice when fit and Jeffers clearly isn't seen as good enough to get a start even now, so in my book Hughes is in the dock for this one.

I suppose the fact that Jeffers, like Roberts, is injured has totally passed you by!

  7. On the way up to the Sunderland home game last season (which was ultimately cancelled) my friend and I were practically crying at the thought of having to sit outside (we had corporate hospitality booked but outside seats). We both agreed that we were willing to pay whatever they asked to sit inside!

Then 50 miles from Ewood, they cancelled the game. We still went and got our food, but agreed it was a very long way to go for a meal!

  8. Having travelled recently to Barnet, Grimsby and Wycombe, I can say anyone wanting to go back is COMPLETELY MAD!!!

You REALLY don't want to be going back to dross like that- standing, tiny crowds and facilities to make a builder wince!!! (Although to be fair at Barnet I was in the Director's box which was ok)

I'm one of the "new school" of fans. I like people to sit down and shut up so that I can concentrate on the game. Pointless droning on about Burnley just irritates. Now I'm not saying that a few good tunes before kick-off or at selected moments wouldn't be welcome, but we don't have any of them!

  9. Even if i had the money to buy a box i wouldn't purchase one, mainly because i much prefer to be in the stands with the true loyal fans and not with the up them selves business people who couldn't care less about the club.

Plus the atmosphere is far better in the stands

Aha- but you don't have the option of watching from inside the lounge if it's cold!!!

(this is very important to me!)

  10. From memory, Boxes are about £10k a pop. Corporate hospitality is from £130 to £400 a person in other suites. I normally do that 5 or 6 times a year. Plus I have an on-site parking place, so I think I already do my bit.

Although have considered getting a hospitality season ticket (if we did such things). You can get them at Parkhead for about £1,500 a year

  11. Tell you what.... sod it! .... take the gates off the hinges and let anyone in. Thats the answer. Get the players to play for nothing and the jobs a gud un.

I really am warming to my earlier idea of charging double or even treble and playing in front of about 8000 'nice' people. We could all then have those nice Recaro seats with heating elements built in, parking close by on the car parks, creche facilities, with nice well prepared and wholesome snacks and drinks in proper cups / glasses all served by attractive scimpily clad waitresses. Lounge suits and very smart casual only. No scruffy low lifers present in stupid Lacoste tracksuits and Burberry hats, no obscenities and intelligent conversation. With all the oiks paying a tenner, standing in the rain and bravely chanting insults at 20 opposing fans at Accy Stanley. Who needs folk who are constantly skint and cannot pay their way in life anyway? No use to BRFc or anyone else for that matter are they? It may even incentivise em into doing better at school and 'getting on' in life, instead of whingeing and sponging all the time. It'd be superb. The prospect certainly does have much merit.

I'm probably the only other person posting on here who likes this idea. Especially the heated seats bit!

  12. Hello there!

To return the thread started on Hob Nob Anyone?, a Reading fans board, I thought I would canvas your opinion ahead of your visit to the Madesjki on the 16th December, with the intention of doing a match preview.

How does it feel being one of the four teams to have won the Prem? Absolutely bloody marvellous!

What do you think of Mark Hughes? He is god

UEFA Cup – Heaven or Hell? Heaven, I'm in Heaven

Why has your season started so indifferently? Injuries to key players.

Who has performed above expectations for your team? And who not? Above expectations- Bentley (I forgot Emerton!!!)- oops. Not- GAMST,GAMST and GAMST

Why do you not sell out the ground? Not enough people in the envions

What do you think of Reading? I like a good book, oh you meant the team? You seem to be doing quite well.

    Score Prediction? We'll win

Any finally - tell me some Interesting fact about your club? Andy Todd has great Abs and Pecs and Lucas Neill is very pretty!

  13. At the end of the day it actually doesn't matter to the club if supporters buy their merchandise off Chorley market. The club makes the same money whatever. That's the whole point.

As I said before, I suspect the club shop, before it was franchised out, was either not making much money or making none at all, and the club was taking all the risks on buying merchandise and hiring staff. Now they're not. It's a win win for the club.

  14. Providing this is the same type of outsourcing arrangement as most are, we only get a fee from Sports World for allowing them to run the shop. They take the risk of it making a profit or loss. Therefore if they sell NO merchandise we still make money, and they make a loss on the staff and stock.

It takes the risk out of ordering the wrong merchandise or too much.

So actually although we sell the same merchandise regardless, if it's awful it doesn't matter under the present arrangement.

  15. Someone somewhere will have done a cost/benefit analysis between keeping the shop (and catering) and hiving it off. The assumption must be that we're making more money by hiving it off than we were by running it ourselves. (This was true years ago for my student union's catering- the company we hived it off to ran it so badly it ran into the ground, but we still made money)

Unfortunately for our club, with no great benefactor, the objective is to be profitable. Hence customer service will suffer. I would say - what's the point of having the best club shop in the world if it's losing money hand over fist?
