Attendance 15,319 not too shabby. How many did Luton bring?

Can't get over the 2 shots on target stat after 66% possession, but then again I've also seen the Charlton v Leeds stats of another afternoon mugging.

I havent seen any of the match or highlights yet so look forward at least to the Travis goal. Why are we so shot-shy especially from a distance when such attempts are usually woeful.

About 1600 Luton fans but the upper JW looked more full than usual. Good to see, shame team let us down.

TM needs to have a shooting session in his training schedule ? because on today's evidence he doesn't.

Early days,I know but clearly Mowbray shouldnt be allowed to spend any more money on strikers.

On the positive side,I dont expect us to get relegated.

This tedious possession-style football probably works best away from home.

Mowbrays refusal to play his strongest team(which MUST include Graham) means he isnt getting the best from the squad available.

At least we can now play a strong team in the FACup as there is  probably no chance of promotion!

Annoys me too. Everyone in the ground knows Graham is our best but he wont start him. Is this because TM thinks he's almost a spent penny and he wants to prove his £5m summer signing is the way forward. Recall Graham requesting to play in the U23s the other week so he must be getting frustrated at lack pf play time.

Negative at the ko? We had almost 100% possession just not in their area for 20 mins. If the two CDs miss headers you concede stupid goals like we saw today

2 shots on target compared to Luton's 5 - what do they practice in training. Substitutions that could not change the game. As you say, not in their area enough, no penetration. We lack in direction from the manager.

  4. Beyond any doubt now TM most go. Yes the ref was unbelievably poor but we went into this game with a negative attitude from the manager who was unable to change tactics as the game went on. That negativity carried on throughout with players lack of confidence  OK never a free kick, sold to the ref and he bought it, but name one player that was outstanding?

One last thought, TM was given the get out of jail card by a ref who should never referee at this level.

  5. If Graham had started instead of Armstrong he would have held the ball up front and even (more likely to) scored. In hindsight (imo) maybe Armstrong should have lifted the ball over their advancing keeper rather than going for power. The lad puts in 100% but he's not a centre forward. A first half Dack through ball caught him off guard then in a second half similar position Dack maybe thought I'm not wasting another chance.

Thought Buckley did ok. Only lightweight but his mind is quick and he's not afraid to demand the ball meaning he needs a close watch.

Full credit to Graham at HT coming to the BBE wall for photos.

I know a big Baggies fan through work.

They've lost two 20+ goal strikers and Craig Dawson since last season as well as another defende (can't remember who he said but it may have been our own Tosin). His view is they gave it their best shot last year and this year will be a bit of a rebuild.

I don't think August has been the 'month of death' it's been made out to be.

That said, Its not been a disaster of a start but we do need to move up a gear. For all the points we have picked up, we haven't looked like creating much and our porous defence has reared its head a couple of times. I feel we have a formation and team selection within us which can worry lots of teams in this league but we just haven't found it yet. I do feel, despite the summer additions, we still lack a striker and centre half to be truly in with any chance of top 6.

Will TM find ever find it??

  7. Cardiff well organised but lacking in finishing quality.

Our best spell was in last 5 minutes but up till then we weren't quick enough. Thought Travis did ok and Bennett was careful to avoid his previous mistakes - unlucky to be booked. Graham & Dack didn't get any chance to play, Walton nearly gave it away with his non safety play and Bell was too slow, needs to think. Says it all when Williams refuses to thread a ball through to him.

  8. Listening to Sky's pre match last night we were to struggle against (£20m) Bowen and Eaves. Bowen missed a penalty and Eaves was substituted. Well done to all players, management and vocal support. Great team work.

Got to say Cunningham is exactly what we need. The way he run through challenges from the back with a shot on target was perfect. Hope this becomes a trade mark for him.

You reckon? I doubt he’d even be close to the door.

Fan wise, he may get a ‘Tony, sort it out’ and some boos, but no mass revolt at this stage.

I absolutely promise you that Mowbray will not be leaving if we lose on Saturday, do yourself a favour and get that out of your head.

I just don't want to go through this season counting the points we could have won. Wishful thinking on my part.

    Just got back.

I haven’t read any comments so got no idea what the general consensus is.

Overall I was encouraged. I expected a battering and it never looked like occurring. We were by far the better side in the first half and marginally second best in the second. The end result was harsh and a draw would have been fair.

    Positives:

Tosin and Williams. Solid throughout. We won’t miss Mulgrew if Tosin can keep that up. Williams looks far more accomplished at CB.

Dack. Was flying into everything and stood out in the first half. He won’t be here for much longer so we should make the most of it, Really encouraged by how well he played.

Travis and Johnson. It works, Really effective together. Best centre mid pairing in years.

    Negatives.

Armstrong, He’s not a winger. Gets in behind but the end product isn’t there. Move him central or bring Chapman in.

Bell. Improved in the second half but was clearly our weak link. It’s Cunningham’s spot to lose.

Rothwell. Barely noticed him. Deserves more chances and did nothing wrong but didn’t provide much.

Everyone else did well enough. Bennett looked ok and Gallagher worked a really hard. Main concern is the lack of clear chances we created today and last week, Disappointed with how we seemed to down tools after their second. We ran out of steam in the second half and the subs had no real impact.

Fulham were solid but unspectacular. They will get better I’m sure.

As a stand alone performance there’s plenty to be pleased about, But we need that first point to get things going,

Thanks Magic. Plenty going on here tonight with posters annoyed at TM decision to bring on subs in last 15 minutes as a last gasp to equalise but played players out of position which is what TM does. Annoyingly for me he's states game plan worked even though no shots on target.

One poster at the game stated TM didn't acknowledge away support. If true that's poor. We have a great away following.
