  1. “There’s a chance we could sign a player from abroad." Do you think Mowbray was referring to being offered Maja, or is it someone else?
  2. Not sure he means stronger right away, but we’ll lose him for nothing if he doesn’t leave now so it’s a gamble either way. It’s a shame that it’s to a promotion rival, and it’s a shame when Rothwell is playing the best football of his career. I think he’ll continue to perform down south, and that his replacement(s) will be loans from the PL. Big day tomorrow.
  3. Not so sure. Think he'll want a high energy box to box midfielder who can chip in with a few goals and assists over the course of a season. We're a lot more predictable when our pacey players are out, so I'm sure he'll want another quick player to hit teams on the break. But we don't offer the fees or wages to attract the hottest prospects.
  4. Allegedly Mikel is a couple of years older than that, but he still looked good for Stoke. I think we should stick with our current style of play and go for someone a bit younger and energetic.
  5. He’s usually spot on. Probably £3m at least. Disappointing nonetheless, but if Freeman and a younger player comes in to replace him then I’ll accept it and move on. Scott Twine looks like a good prospect.
  6. Didn't realise. I'm sure they work around it but that's a plus for us at the moment at least.
  7. True. Once he signs a pre-contract he won't care. He's been playing for his future and the future of his family this first half of the season and has arguably never been better. I remember how good Mané was for Soton whenever a transfer window was nearing, but when the 'for sale' changes to sold where's the drive? Sure, Rothwell can still win a hefty bonus here, but I say sell now and scramble to replace him. If it's Brentford get Forss for the remainder of the season.
  8. Usually him or Rich will reach out to the club for clarification.
  9. If he has back spasms it will flame back up. He has a history with that specific injury, but a cryptic Crooke on Twitter isn’t very reassuring.
  10. Why is everyone assuming it’s Bournemouth when Mowbray said other clubs had offered twice as much. Would hate for him to leave now - leaves us in a hell of a mess this close to the window shutting.
  11. Not so sure. End product not PL caliber until perhaps this season. Defensively not the best (overcommits) but makes up for it to some extent with his pace.
  12. Potentially could have sold Rothwell and gotten O’Riley for the same or less. Rothwell is a pro and won’t cause a stir in order to leave now. Hasn’t complained once from what I can remember when Mowbray either benched him, subbed him early, or played down his praises after a good game (admittedly Tony has made him a much better player though). People who are posting on here without any sources, please be precise when recirculating chitchat from elsewhere. Jury’s out on Hedges. Never seen him play but probably wise to sign him now.
  13. Transfer window closed but loan window still open so just a technicality if I remember correctly.
  14. Sorry but that's one of the reasons we were lower on the table. JRC has great energy and can do an ok job against certain teams/players, but is nowhere near Nyambes level. I believe Mowbray mismanaged Nyambe when selecting Bennett and JRC before him, at a stage of Nyambes contract where it would have been natural to renew it. JRC lacks composure, the final ball, pace and physicality. Deputy role in MF at best...
  15. He’ll want to stay longer if we win promotion. Improved contract offer likely if that happens, plus a crack at the big time.
  16. I don’t think Edun is good enough at protecting the back three like Travis is. The latter is a big key, even if his performances vary he’s a constant nuisance to the opposition and is probably our second smartest player after Ayala. Johnson did well against Bork but struggles to find the rhythm of the games when coming off the bench. I’d like a combative central mf’er in, and a forward. Other than that we’re good I think.
  17. Or we don't act at all.
  18. Loan with a view for Maja would make sense, as a Breo is likely to leave in the summer. Can’t be anywhere near match fitness though.
  19. S.W.E.E.T. Sam Gallagher. A lot better down the middle and steps up to the challenge. Didn’t look like we had many goals in us tonight but the desire was back and we played a very good first half. Would have been content with a draw looking at the match, but my oh my what a sweet win this was. Hope we can field a strong eleven against Luton who will be up for a physical battle. Was about to name Edun Bell mk. II but he win me over with that 50/50. Zeefuik looked tidy.
  20. He was on fire last season and showed glimpses for us as well. The reason I mentioned him was because he may want to challenge for promotion instead of against relegation, plus Reading have already been deducted points so I'm taking a guess that their finances aren't the best. Looks like it will be a loan from a Prem club though. Marcus Forss would be a good one.
  21. Would anyone take Lucas Joao back? Fine goalscoring form last season, but has had a couple of surgeries this term. A little bit of a bad egg perhaps, and possibly out of our reach financially anyway.
  22. Would prefer it if he could be more specific when posting transfer related stuff.
