  1. If only he was the best I personally rate Birger Meling higher, but think Lagerbäck doesn't rate the domestic league (Meling left to join Nimes in July) and possibly feels Norway are vulnerable on set pieces with two smaller fullbacks. He has a very statistic driven approach. That Forest deal for Grosicki puts them in a bad light and should be looked at. Has Downing found himself a new club yet?
  2. He's 26, so not that young. Still room for improvement though, and has played fairly well so far this season.
  3. It's a game of opinions too, but everybody can be a judge if and when he signs.
  4. I guess. He's our most frustrating player in my view because I always feel as if he plays at 75% of his ability. A little more intensity and concentration and there's a player in there somewhere.
  5. It's a coin toss. Bell has more raw ability but gets let down by his lack of confidence and decision making. Aleesam is diciplined but doesn't offer much going forward despite having a decent cross when someone sets him up. They remind me of each other in that they both stand off too much and are often times 'too nice' to their opponents. Not particularly quick, nor quick on the turn, and along with Bell not decisive enough for me going forward. He would offer depth, but I'm not sure he'd displace Bell at this given time.
  6. He would improve the squad, but not the team imo. No resale value either. Definitely underwhelming if this is what we end up with this window.
  7. Aleesami cut from the same cloth as Bell. The weak link of our national team. No thank you from me.
  8. The emoji response was when asked directly "Ryan Manning looking likely?". He then said he was unable to confirm the identity.
  9. Looks like he's hardly played the past couple of seasons, has he been injured?. A no for me regardless, don't need another B. Johnson with no re-sale value and legs half gone. I think earlier posts suggesting that Manning and other money signings depend on Raya/King deals getting over the line are spot on. It could potentially drag on until the end of the window but hopefully there's good news coming. We have a good mix of youth and experience in our current squad, and are only missing one or two pieces to the puzzle in order to challenge for promotion.
  10. Keith had the pace of Petrovic and the touch of Kuqi.
  11. True. A bit silly of him to go into that challenge with such force and put both players at risk. Not my favourite Norwegian player, but I doubt Stefan Johansen will get much playing time in the Premier League for Fulham. Probably on fairly big wages but is proven in the Championship and puts a shift in every time. Loan deal?
  12. I think we leave ourselves too exposed at the back as well. Our best 1v1 central defender was Tosin who is gone now, so hopefully Ayala can fill in better than Williams can. We will definitely win a lot of matches if we keep this performance level and intensity up.
  13. Wow, how did we not win that? You'd think we were the PL side of the two teams looking at that match. A little bit too much through the middle at times, but we kept trying and deserved much more. But when facing PL quality in the final third, we need to take better care of our chances.
  14. Leaving ourselves too exposed at the back, we're only 1-0 down. Not enough forward passes, but a lot of positives to take from the first half as well. COYR!
  15. Gahhh.... thought this would be on iFollow for overseas fans.
  16. He's a bit too injury prone to warrant a 3 year contract at this stage but beggars can't be choosers. 2+1 would have been ideal. Need a left back and a centre mid, and we're set.
  17. Thoroughly deserved the win tonight. Seemed to ebb off at the start of the second half, and I can't say I agreed with the Graham/Samuel substitution. Fortunately Lenihan managed to grab the opener and it was floodgates after that. For me Johnson slows our game down too much at time, think he's a bit on and off and a bit frustrating to watch at times. Bell falls asleep too and costs us in the build-up, while Bennett is limited but is a good player for his workrate. Travis and Downing are real quality, Travis has benefited tremendously from playing alongside Downing it feels like. What a screamer from Armstrong. Only thing missing was a goal from Brereton, other than that it was a good night of football. Two tough away games awaits but we're there lurking at the play-offs.
  18. Clear pen...
  19. Ben knows what he has to do to get himself in contention for a start. So far he's not up for it, and unfortunately there's little evidence suggesting he'll ever be.
  20. Good stuff! Game of two halves eh?
  21. We have a good crop of youth players knocking on the door, so I don't see any big crisis coming. With that said I do think our promotion aspirations will dwindle for each season that passes by, and we're actually in a very good position to be pushing for a play-off place this season. Mowbray should recognise the same, and needs to make a couple of big calls this window. Really looking forward to tonight's game.
