[Archived] Portsmouth 3 Blackburn Rovers 0
G Somerset Rover replied to Eddie's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Wow, now I remember why I hate saturdays so much again. From feeling brilliant to feeling like dog terd. Unfortunately with Lucas' current predicament the fans will turn on him, therefore it may be best for all parties if he does leave before the window is out. Good player but for every great thing hes done there is a moment of madness to tarnish it and wreck any chance of getting back into games. 5 reds now in his Rovers career. It doesnt even sound like James has made a save and our defensive errors are not boding well...we cant say we havent been warned with the strength of our squad. -

Did anyone see Benny Mac's interview in the LET-him and Roberts seem to be getting on like a house on fire...on and off the pitch. We could have the new Yorke and Cole here (In their prime I hope). -
[Archived] Emerton Blow For Rovers
G Somerset Rover replied to jim mk2's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
He's versatile guys-that's what we'll need with all the matches we should have this season. What will annoy me is if he continues to play right wing and continues to do a poor job...as Ive said earlier I just hope Hughsey is still after a right midfielder and that Emertons stay wont disrupt that. -

Good news for football manager fans-he's always well overated on that game! I dont really know what to make of it-if Hughes wants him then we have to be pleased....unless he tried to get others in but failed? -

Great! All we need with our injuries at present. Hopefuly this will emphasise the need for another midfielder. -

We really need to get a defender in this week-Nelsen is probably out, zura is struggling, axe is on international, todd is struggling...but good news in the LET big Dom Matteo should be fit! -
Guys Im about 5 11' reasonably athletic and I dont like my shirts to be baggy or anything. Ive got to order online as I cant make it to ewood for a month or so, so any reccomendations on what the sizes are like?

[Archived] Squad Numbers 06-07
G Somerset Rover replied to Presty On Tour's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I think it has-me included. If they'd have released the numbers already they would be £80 richer. I'll still probably buy them when the numbers are out, but Im sure some wont be as keen. -

I think alot will depend on the Ooijer deal. If he comes in this week then I'd expect Neil to stay at CB with Ooijer right back. I wonder how Nelsen's injury is healing up? -
[Archived] Rovers 5-0 New Zealand
G Somerset Rover replied to colin's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I think Hughes and Neil have realised that he's a better centre back than right back-although obviously he's good at both. Giving him the slot he wants might just persuade him to stay. Nelsen and Neil centre backs-that looks cracking on paper...now we just need to get a right back in. By the way what were the squad numbers? -
[Archived] Steve Bruce

Why does Dunn not get into Big Clubs starting 11? Bruce moans and moans about how he never has him fit, and then he keeps putting him on the bench. -
Is it just me or does anybody else expect Robbie Savage to grab the ball when we get a penalty this season?

Cool, now youve said that I'll delay buying a new Gamst 12 shirt until somebody could kindly post on here what number he wears today. -

Thank God teams such as Newcastle and Villa havent signed many players either. Its amazed me how late teams are leaving the majority of their business-Rovers included. I mean I know that you can pick up some good deals at the end of the month but a) its blimmin risky if thats what the club are doing (ie with a right midfielder) and b it means Matteo et al. will probably get a game this month-and perhaps even longer if we cannot get the right players in. -

You can add a few others to that list aswell, ie Douglas and Matteo. Hughes really needs to geta few more squad players in before the deadline because these players cannot cut it at the required level its simple as. -
The sale of Nelsen IF he did go would be woeful for Rovers unless we have an excellent replacement lined up. What is concerning me is that we were promised "an accomplished partner for Bellers" Now since then weve sold Bellers, got rid of a hell of alot of dead wood and spent only four and a half million-which should leave us with in theory 6 million AT LEAST if the Gudjohnson rumours were as it seemed true. Either the board have told a few porkies or we're due to spend some serious cash in the next 3 weeks.

Its not what you know but who you know I suppose!! If he has anything like half the career that Sparky did then we could be in for quite a treat. -

[Archived] Background Story On Nelsen
G Somerset Rover replied to jkritchey's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Maybe this is why Hughes is so intent on acquiring another centre half? I know we'd need four quality CB's if we are to compete on all fronts, however I couldn't see Todd and Zura being prepared to sit on the bench or worse-not even in the 16. Rovers have said that Nelsen definitely wont travel to Holland...we desperately need him to be fit for the Pompey game. -

When is the Admiral back? We'd never get stuffed 5-0 against Brazil with him at the back, let alone Olimpiakos. I know we chopped and changed players but Hughes is right, 5-0 and completely outplayed is still an alarming result for a group of premiership players. Surely we can try now to get rid of the players who blatantly wont help our cause this season ie Matteo, Mceveley and try to bring in players who can at least do a job.
