  1. Without investment in the summer it seems a sure bet we'll be in Bolton's position next season. How far will we have to fall before they decide enough is enough?
  2. I'm a big fan of Sasha, Charlotte and Becky. Bayley and Asuka are tearing it up in NXT at the moment at well. TNA once had the best women's division going, looks like WWE may be bringing some of that back. Dropping the quite frankly offensive "diva's" name and the purple butterfly belt is a big step in the right direction. I don't have much faith in WWE creative to follow through in anything but the literal sense when it comes to this though.
  3. I don't actually think Ambrose even needed to go over Lesnar. If it was my call the match would not have been booked at all, but since it was, why not have both men beat each other senseless until neither can get up and both have to be taken out on a stretcher? It elevates Ambrose as an absolute badass for hanging with Brock, who loses nothing (and gives a reason for another lengthily hiatus). Ambrose being beaten in 12 minutes and barely getting any offence in was just sad. There was significant damage done to Undertaker's character last night imo. He looked like an old man, wrestled like an old man, and struggled to hang with a 46 year old non wrestler. Time for the dead man to hang up the boots before he becomes a parody. I forgot about this segment. The Rock was in super irritating/cocaine mode which I found a bit cringey. There was no need for the Wyatts to take that beating, but they are buried beyond salvation now anyway. Send Bray back to NXT and start again.
  4. You aren't wrong there. TNA had a couple of decent years between 2005-2007, but ever since WCW folded in 2001 the industry has been on a steady decline. It baffles me how many people I've seen defending the current product. I can only assume they've been fed @#/? for so long they've actually started enjoying the taste. Because they have forgotten how to make stars. They cut off all potential stars at the knees before they can even get going, and push cookie cutter sports entertainers that are far too bland to captivate an audience. Last night is a perfect example (spoilers ahoy for anybody who hasn't watched WM yet): Ryback was getting over previously, but is now inexplicably being jobbed to the horrifically bland (but kid friendly) Kalisto on the pre show's pre show. Zack Ryder wins the IC Title - this would be fine if Ryder was going to go somewhere, but we know he won't. He'll probably lose the title tonight, robbing the likes of KO or Zayn - guys who could actually do something for the company - of the chance to make an impact at the biggest PPV of the year. Jericho beats AJ Styles. Seriously, what? Podgy, out of shape Jericho beats AJ totally clean? The guy that lost to Fandango last year beats one of the most over new wrestlers on the roster? Words fail me. League of Nation beat New Day. League of Nations then get pummeled by the retired hall of famers. Nobody wins here. Utterly pointless. Lesnar destroys Ambrose in a keany match. Pointless. Shane McMahon takes one of the WM spots to face Undertaker. Yes, he's over, but surely WWE should be asking themselves why a 46 year old non-wrestler is far more over than anybody else on their entire roster? Imagine they'd built a full timer up to take that spot instead. They might actually make a real star. Then there is Reigns. Dear God, it's almost like the creative team are purposefully trying to sabotage the guy. I feel bad for him. He hasn't really done anything wrong, and I suppose on some level he knows the fans are really booing Vince and the creative team, not him. The crowd hate his character because they know it's not real. They don't hate Roman as a person, they might even start cheering him if he turns heel. But hey, Vince knows best.
  5. Generally speaking I massively dislike the current WWE product. It's bland, boring, fake and soulless. That said, they always seem to pull off a couple of decent months around WrestleMania and the event itself is usually good to watch even if you haven't been following the storylines. Not this year. The build up was awful and the event was just as bad. Shane McMahon kicking out of the last ride, kicking out of a chokeslam on the steps, and then reversing Taker's Hell's Gate submission into a sharpshooter just broke my barrier of disbelief. It was too much. Roman Reigns has nuclear heat with the crowd, he's essentially going to be the next John Cena, without the drawing part. As an aside, NXT Takeover Dallas was unbelievably good. It's hard to believe the same company produces Raw and NXT. Shinsuke Nakamura's debut was awesome, and his match with Zayn was off the charts good. NXT, as usual, outshone the main shows by a huge margin.
  6. One of the worst WrestleMania's ever last night. The whole event was, by and large, a massive FU to the fans from Vince, Hunter and Stephanie. The wrong person went over in almost every match, and the main event was possibly the worst ever. The crowd were booing Reigns so much that WWE muted the audience and turned up the ring/announcer mics to block it out. They then piped in fake cheers at the end when Reigns won the match. A real low point as far as respecting their fan base goes. I regret staying up until 5am to watch it.
  7. Not a chance imo. Being 10 points behind Preston is pretty tragic though.
  8. Works for me. Should have stayed with Sky. I'm all for being brave, but taking your first managerial job in a country where you don't even speak the language? Not the smartest move.
  9. Fantastic second half performance. It's only a friendly but I can't remember the last time we played this well against a top international team in friendlies or in a tournament. We could leave Rooney at home and be no worse off.
  10. Jeez, a lot of furious reaction to a poster who's mainly been on the wind up over PL since he was appointed We're no great shakes but we aren't going down. On our day we'll get points from anybody in this division and we'll have enough of those days between now and the end of the season to stay up. Today was unfortunate, but ultimately nothing more than a match between two teams who have no prospects until the summer transfer window opens.
  11. And people say Rovers fans are the worst for giving Brown some stick
  12. Ultimately I don't think Fulham will drop this season, but it's a huge summer for them. If they fail to sort out the mess they're in then next season they may well find themselves falling through the trap door. They're scoring enough (second highest scorers in the league!) but also concede a ridiculous amount (only Charlton have conceded more). In theory if they can sort out their defence they should be alright, but you have to assume McCormack will go in the summer, along with maybe a few others to get them out of the embargo. If they aren't out of the embargo by the time the summer ends they'll be in much the same position as we were at the start of this campaign.
  13. Bowyer's meagre three wins coupled with our horrendous loss of form from mid-Dec through Jan really made it difficult for us this season. It seems like PL has used our winless run to sort the wheat from the chaff and I expect more changes to come in the summer.
  14. If we'd kept GB in charge we'd have fallen through the trap door imo. Even with a proper manager in charge it's been tough to get a tune out of the squad, I very much doubt Bowyer could have attracted the necessary resources in Jan to improve us. I think JR would still be here, though. I can't imagine Bowyer being as ruthless as Lambert in shoving him out the door once the initial talks with Boro broke down.
  15. I can't see us going down now. Lambert's getting enough out of this team to avoid relegation fairly comfortably imo.
  16. Monday's Raw was absolutely awful. What a waste of an Undertaker appearance. Everything about the show was terrible, even the crowd were dead.
  17. NJPW is pretty good at building up new stars, they'll be alright. They also manage to snag a lot of American talent due to there being no major wrestling company beyond WWE in the states. Shane McMahon returning on Raw was a cool moment. Been a while since I've seen a crowd react quite like that.
  18. Yeah, agreed. It's all about balance. I tend to find Japan is a bit too far in one direction, whilst American wrestling is too far in the other. It kind of worked for WWE during the Attitude Era, but they burned through so many storylines in that time that within a few years there was absolutely nothing left.
  19. New Japan isn't what it used to be, but the Japanese style is very different to the American style. Much more focused on the in ring action as opposed to pseudo soap opera storylines.
  20. We know at least part of it is covered by the BOI. There were rumours that the JR money came from Balaji's personal stash, though I don't know if that was ever confirmed. He's right. Grant really seems to have matured this season into a much more reliable, level-headed player. Long may that continue.
  21. Unfortunately this season in particular has seen our team at a real low point in terms of creativity and strikers with the ability to score goals. We started the season arguably without a creative player anywhere in the team, whilst aside from JR the rest of our strikers were better known for not scoring goals. In Gomez, Graham and Watt we have probably brought in enough to get us over the line for this season. Some major surgery will be required in the summer to correct the glaring creative and goal scoring deficiencies across the squad (especially if you exclude those currently on loan).
  22. They didn't go on a 9 game run without a win!
  23. It's a result we all needed. Our winless run is over, and hopefully we can carry some of this momentum into Sunday's match.
  24. I hope somebody takes the bar and slams it across his bald head.
