Great result, I will look forward to MOTD tonight, even if we are the last match.
-
1-1

Quality stuff, hats off to the Rovers.
-
I think the HAHA! is meant to suggest the choice of Carroll was a joke and not to be taken seriously.
-
Brilliant preview, but don't show the Malcolm Glazer quote ... to any english Man Utd fan... wouldn't hear the end of it. I don't think we have the quality to beat Manchester United, as much as I'd like to see it happen, I have a feeling the Old Trafford curse shall continue. Until we get our attack sorted, we're always aiming for a 0-0 in games like these at most. Optimistically: 0-0 until the 90th minute, until MGP is brought down in the area and Stead, who's come on as a sub, slots away the penalty for a 1-0 Rovers victory. Realistically: Man Utd 2-0 Rovers. We rarely get out of our half.

That has to be a wind up..?

I don't think Dickov deserves this much critisism. I saw the game today from start to finish and whilst I agree he definately lacks the quality that a lone striker needs, he wasn't that bad today. He whines and moans a lot, yes, but today was probably justified, the referee was a disgrace. Dickov did do some things right though, his holding up play(when he received the ball at his feet) was superb, as was his closing down, at one point in the game it was his closing down that directly led to a Rovers chance from nowhere. Like it or not he is our top scorer and works damn hard for this club. I do however think Stead should begin starting, whether in a 4-4-2 or 4-1-4-1 formation. We already know Dickov's (by his own admission) playing at 70%, and that's just not good enough. He needs to rest and get at least to 80/85% before he is starting for us again.

According to prem Plus Todd had a virus and was feeling the affects of it at half time, which is why he was replaced.

I know it was Arsenal, I know we didn't expect to win, and I know 1-0 isn't a bad result.... but a full strentgh arsenal team will destroy us. We lost to an arsenal team which comprised of a fair chunk of 2nd choice players. Still an excellent team, mind, but if we had any chance of beating them it was against this kind of team. Neill and Johansson deserve a special mention for being terrible. Mokoena was very dodgy today... I wouldn't be happy with him as a centre-back, please keep him as a DM. We didn't expect anything out of this game, but we didn't go for it either. 4-5-1, whilst a good system when we don't concede, is useless when we go a goal down. I would have liked to have seen Stead come on over Emo, who was largely useless, and Tugay, who contributed little. We don't score enough anyway and Dickov alone up front will never get us goals. Have to admit we had a few nice moves, but for the most part they came to nothing and our set pieces are diabolical as of late! Until next season at least Blackburn are going to be one of the worst teams to watch in the Premiership, but we can take solice that we will be in the premiership next year, I imagine. Onto the next game! 0-0 all we can hope for against Utd, I fear.

Good, solid, dogged performance. Typical Rovers, brilliant. Another extremely valuable point, well done lads.

Gally on for Stead. To be honest Stead has had very little service to feed off, I thought he was quite solid, from what we saw of him. Excellent link-up play with reid at one point. let's just give Liverpool a goal kick when we get a corner, less chance of getting hit on the break. set pieces are where we can beat them and we've been shocking in this area. Everywhere else we've been completely solid. Liverpool's players seem to have a problem maintaining vertical status. MGP deserves a second mention for his awful set pieces. Goodness me... Matteo - great tackle!
-
Is MGP attempting to put in sh*te corners? We always tend to take bad corners but this is taking the p*ss. Oh god, not Matteo.

According to Sky Sports Dickov is likely to feature against liverpool. http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.a...nel=Premiership That's from Sky Sports today. Wouldn't be surprised to see him fighting his heart out for Rovers once more, come Wednesday. Is a 65% - 70% Dickov better than a 100% Jon Stead?

A win we deserved overall, wasn't impressed with our starting 451 formation, but we scrapped the win. Definate penalty. Another 1-0, but who cares, we're through -

1-0! We needed a penalty or something like it and got it. Come on! -

Where is Stead playing? Did he come into midfield or attack? Can't say i've seen much if anything of him. -

Neither do we. *yawn* -
In the paper there was a section below detailing how we stopped them attacking which also mentioned Mokoena. Not sure whether it's on the site or not...
-
I didn't condemn them for it, agreed with most of what they said
-
Last monday's Guardian was very anti-Mokoena. They painted a very bad picture of our South African hardman. As long as he doesn't get himself sent off, i'm not too bothered. His reputation may soon be up there with Todd, Sav, Thommo and Dickov.

Nice preview! I think we'll operate defensively once more, and can't see many goals going in, especially as Agent Jay isn't here this time. Though liverpool crushed Bayern leverkusen their league form isn't as fearful. They've lost 11 games I believe this season, which is the same amount as us. They have, however, won plenty more games than us, and only drawn 4 this season(one of them being against us). They have let in 30 goals, and scored 41, both superior to most teams below them. These stats suggest(particularly with our dogged defensive form as of late) a tight match. They'll be on a high from beating Bayern and we'll be on a high from beating Everton, so no advantages there. Logic dictates a narrow liverpool win. But so did logic dictate an Everton win last sunday, and we defied that, so... 1-0 to the Rovers. Lucas Neill to grab a stunning 87th minute winner with a thunderbolt from 35 yards after robbing Garcia of possession and skinning 2 other players along the way

That was awful. No doubt the pitch played a part in that but we were shocking. They were our equals today, sadly. Disappointing. We were organized, solid at the back... but boring, useless and weak up front. Our passing was dreadul, our control poor, shooting weak, set-pieces back to normal(rubbish), and our lack of creativity was apparent, though Burnley defended steadfastly when they needed to. Emerton started quite involved, but couldn't beat any Burnley players. He then disappeared for periods of the match, I think he and Pederson switched flanks at one point... it didn't work. Pederson fell over a lot, but made a couple of attempts at scoring, probably our most dangerous player today. Dickov didn't do much, Johnson when he came on was poor. Thank goodness for Sav - true heart and fighting spirit. Thommo was ineffective, as was Reid, but I was impressed with Reid's defending during his time on the pitch. The most entertaining thing was the dingle fan on at the end trying to start a fight with Sav(but quickly running when Nelsen (and another defender, Todd was it?) squared up to him). He was giving the police a bit of a tussle though. Burnley were gaining momentum at that point, but he thankfully depleted it and we managed to scrap our way past the last 4 or 5 minutes. Burnley played like the Championship side they are, we did not play like a Premiership side. They made it difficult, but we should have been able to overcome it. Not impressed... we have to pick it up at Ewood.

Right. Am I right to assume that by saying that you think that it must 'feel' worse being black than being a midget DE4life? No... I just find the example he used ridiculous. Cutting somebody at the legs off doesn't make you shorter in height, it predominantly makes you crippled. And wearing a black mask doesn't make you black either. I just found it an odd quote. was that aimed at me? The quote came from an acquintance, not myself...
