Paid £1.5M to leave his club after failing to do what was asked of him in terms of basic fitness. Got to love football.

Actually got goosebumps watching that, if only because I can remember watching it when I was younger... we lost that match 2-0 if my memory serves me correctly... was gutted. Good thing it didn't matter in the end

Met Ronnie during my brief stint up north.... a total gentleman and his passion for Rovers shone through. With mercenaries now littering the football landscape, memories of true legends like Ronnie Clayton shine ever brighter. RIP.

It isn't really comparable to the England national team at all. The Premiership as a division has far more quality now and is far more competitive than it was in 1993/1994, or 1994/1995. That's not to diminish the achievements of our players during that time, but if those same group of players were to play in the current climate I'm not sure they'd be as successful as they were back then. Flowers, Hendry, Le Saux, Berg, Batty, Ripley and of course Shearer would still be good to excellent premiership players IMO. Not so sure about the others. Would players like Slater, Wilcox, Warhurst, Newell, Pearce, Atkins or even Sherwood be anywhere near as effective now as they were back then? We'd be challenging in the top half, but I'm not sure we'd be breaking the top four. Just my opinion, though. It's entirely possible I'm underestimating the talents of some squad members - players like Sherwood, Sutton, Newell, Gallacher are debatable.

Not sure about that mate, the quality of the league has improved considerably in a number of ways since 1994. I'm not sure that Rovers team would be title contenders matched against the same players of today.
-
Of the current team, I can only think Samba, Nelsen (a few years ago, anyhow), Jones and maybe N'Zonzi would have had a chance of getting into that team. Andrews would have struggled to make the reserves.

Love videos from the 92 - 96 era, can't begin to count how many times i've watched the 1994-95 Premiership Years ...

Just got his new album... Have to say I'm not overly impressed with it, though it's a massive, massive improvement on Relapse. It's up there on the same level as The Eminem Show, though IMO it doesn't come close to SSLP or MMLP. Em's a little clumsy in a few parts, but generally his flow is very good. The beats aren't as creative as they might have been, but they're good enough. One of the things that annoys me about this album, and quite a lot of Eminem's recent stuff, is his attempts to sing. He can't, so I'm not sure why he tries. He needs to stick to rapping and let the guests do the singing. Favourite tracks are Talkin 2 Myself (no idea who Kobe is, though?), On Fire, No Love, Space Bound, Love the Way You Lie (Rhianna is fantastic in this track) & You're Never Over. Didn't really dig the song with Pink, or the one with the Black Sabbath sample. -
Being paid all that money, with enough natural talent to make fellow professionals jealous, and he can't even be bothered to stay in shape. He can't even get motivated to be fit in the year his home country are playing in and hosting a world cup. What a waste of talent, glad we got rid when we did. £2.5M was a steal.

RIP... absolutely heartbreaking.

First the racist chanting and now this. Shameful. Very tragic, hope the lad pulls through, though it doesn't sound good.
-
West Ham fans seem generally quite pleased by the prospect of McCarthy joining them. I think he could potentially do quite well for them with the World Cup coming up. If rumours of a 2.5 year deal are true, though, they're in for a huge disappointment next season when he turns up fat(ter), unmotivated and outspoken.

Benni may be 32, but £1.25M sounds to me like WHU trying to take advantage of the public falling out between BFS and Benni. 2M should be minimum.
-
Well the majority of them are missing the most important target - the goal on the pitch! Get 'em all in early until we start performing properly for 90 minutes. It's the least they can do for 30+k a week, really.
-
If we sell him to another relegation battler it will be a huge mistake.
-
Proved his worth again tonight. Very, very cool under pressure taking two penalties and making it look easy. It'll be a huge shame if he leaves in Jan

Missing out on the knockout stages of the Champions League would be a bitter financial blow for Liverpool. Missing out on the top 4 this year would be devastating for them in every way possible. Huge pressure on Benitez right now. Looking at their squad... I'm not sure they're upto the task. Without Gerrard and Torres they offer no more than any other upper-mid level premier league team. * 01 Cavalieri, * 12 Aurelio, * 37 Skrtel, * 26 Spearing, * 28 Plessis, * 10 Voronin, * 19 Babel That was their bench for tonight. Worrying times to be a Liverpool supporter

Moko started off somewhat decently for us, but quickly turned into a liability. His signing for Portsmouth was the first sign of their downfall.

McClaren should never have been manager of England, Ince should never have been manager of Rovers. Simple -
A legend in every sense of the word. RIP.
-
Can't see any other clubs offering him anywhere near 65k a week... even 48k seems extortionate, as he's not that good and on the wrong side of 30. Hopefully this will stop anybody wanting him back here.
-
Tevez on for Anderson, hmmm.
-
ITV cocked up Ferguson's interview, and it's taken them half an hour to get their score bar back up upholding their usual high standard of broadcasting. Oh, no, the score bar has disappeared again. Useless.
-
Can't fault his commitment, been a pleasure to have him here. A proper professional.

I'm aware of the reasons behind his rapping about Mariah, it's just outdated. A lot of his pop references in this album are, but it doesn't really detract from the record much. Beautiful's grown on me a lot. Good song. He was interviewed by Jonathan Ross a couple of days ago... what a joke Ross is a tool.
