  1. To make the 'greatest' choice easier, a vote could be run later to choose a team of 'cult heros' (eg Garner Atkins Rathbone etc)
  2. Many a true word spoken in jest! Richardson did indeed spend a considerable time with one leg in plaster.
  3. Totally agree. Shearer runs off with one arm aloft, Robbie Keane falls over a couple of times (but lands on his feet), Duff kisses the clubs badge. No difference. It's just a habit. What do our strikers do to celebrate? (Tris - it must have been the Neill factor) Not much demand for it is there?
  4. I have heard that this incident is part of a lifelong grudge carried by Jimmy Hill, against Rovers, dating from a game in the 60's when a Rovers result denied Fulham and Hill top flight football. Can anyone confirm this?
  5. Didn't Le Saux Hendry and Shearer jump ship ? Agreed. And that, togrther with Moscow, is why Le Saux sticks out like a sore thumb in this team.
  6. But still a tosser all the same - and always wanted to be the centre of attention and the only thing that galls me about our WINNING (Just for you non Rovers fans reading) the P/L was that this tosser was our captain. Not underrated by me in any way or form and should be nowhere near being mentioned on this MB never mind this thread. One thing is certain - Tosser could not have laced Clayton's boots if he had been shown a 1000 times or more and Claytons' connection to the club still, and the glowing testimonies to his abilities speaks volumes to why he cannot be left out. Absolutely scandalous comments. Just because you don't like somebody's personality gives you no right to discount his monumental contribution to the greatest side we have had in modern history. I'm sorry but despite this thread being open to opinions of player's abilities, your comments go way beyond the realms of taste and in my opinion do yourself and this board no favours. Was this not the man who made Mr Coar sweat over contract negotiations before jumping ship?
  7. As I posted elsewhere - bottom of the league and a club in turmoil. Same time of year. There's a lot of similarities between our predicament now and back in 1996. Match Report Still get beat 3-1 though. What price on Lucas Neill completing the hat-trick of scouse sending off's? Fat chance of a repeat of '96 - it started with a pen!!!!
  8. Ossie would have done more but his time at Ewood was cut short by a filthy challenge from Nicky Marker at Home Park.
  9. Ronnie Clayton: Blackburn lad One club man Club captain England captain Still watching Rovers Gives ground tours Eddie Latheron Outstanding member of 1912/14 title winners (see post above)
  10. Barry Hole? Didn't play in the 'hole' by any chance did he?
  11. Huh? WHERE IS DICKOV????????? On the bench. Runs his socks off and just wears the grass out. One of football's journeymen.
  12. Bench: Enckleman Gallacher Dickov McEvelly Lawrenson (offered to dust off his boots for us tonight at 47!)
  13. But we've nothing else to judge Hughesy on Den! And thats precisely why given our squad and position I was against his appointment. The choice of Hughes as manager represents a huge gamble by the board, and given the options available maybe too big a gamble. Theno Any appointment is a gamble.
  14. Possibly the worst thing the club could do for the Liverpool game IMO, is lay on over the top/over aggressive/in yer face stewarding. A low key approach should be adopted to diffuse the situation...... ......together with a 3-0 win (Stead 2, pen) and free ale.
  15. If people say all Prem clubs/professional football is suffering, they are being complacent. I say this because: 1. Charlton live on Sky managed a full house last Sunday. 2. Portsmouth live on Sky managed a full house last Monday. Rovers are either doing something wrong or just ahead of everybody else going into recession.
  16. Away - they beat us at home when we went down!
  17. PB That is the view of much of 'core' Blackburn support.
  18. Bit of a Chelsea pub!! FFS. In order to protect our dwindling fan base, let me say that this boozer is frequented by some of the dodgiest individuals ever to grace The Shed! The only reason I got out in one piece, I put down to being with an extremely good looking blonde girl who coincidentally was mad keen on the Rovers. Those Chelsea fans we spoke to actually questioned our sanity because they rarely saw away fans. For those who can't summon up the money or the courage, the match will be shown 'live' in The Golden Cup, Blackburn Road, Lower Darwen.
  19. It all very political. When we played Celtic, the Dibble would rather have the Jocks in the Darwen End than roaming the streets.
