  1. BobF What! There is still a direct service from Blackburn? ###### I'll be on it.
  2. shame on him for making a difficult decision? for wanting to run the club his way? dont talk out your arse. as repeated in posts further up, keeping him on simply because he is Tony Parkes is not the way to go. About time we had a change A typical response from you Dan. When it comes to principles you always show that you have none. You always talk through your arse with the inevitable effect in what comes out. Incidentally Speeedie my comment about Hughes being harder to sack is perfectly valid no matter what weasle words you may say about it. There is always a place for a man with 35 years of experience and loyalty. Why??????????? Ewood Parkes has been a magnificent servant for this club, but this is not some amateur association. Just a pity that the sme can not be done with the Board to deal with the likes of Coar, Lee, Stanners et al - leftovers from the late great Bill Fox days and hardly major shareholders. Tony has done very well out of the club and will be well looked after severence wise. I doubt he will need to work again, although there is a full time role filling in as caretaker for Premier League managerial merry-go-round. Can't understand why he was overlooked for the BBE Lower bar though? Thank you and good luck Mr Parkes.
  3. Glenn Which train are you catching?
  4. Where about is it? Rochdale Road.
  5. Forrest. Those years as Champs of England (Cup) must have been like MU or Arsenal of recent years.
  6. Viv Busby Colin Randall
  7. Plaque is on a house in the middle of Top O'th Croft, in sight of the Darwen End.
  8. Eric Hall did stir it up between Rovers and Sherwood. The other extreme is the pre-agent days when managers had it 'easy'. I have heard that Chelsea once came in for Derek Fazackerley. Bob Saxton said not for sale and didn't tell Faz. Ban agents.
  9. Best tea lady, physio, drummer?
  10. To make the 'greatest' choice easier, a vote could be run later to choose a team of 'cult heros' (eg Garner Atkins Rathbone etc)
  11. Many a true word spoken in jest! Richardson did indeed spend a considerable time with one leg in plaster.
  12. Totally agree. Shearer runs off with one arm aloft, Robbie Keane falls over a couple of times (but lands on his feet), Duff kisses the clubs badge. No difference. It's just a habit. What do our strikers do to celebrate? (Tris - it must have been the Neill factor) Not much demand for it is there?
  13. I have heard that this incident is part of a lifelong grudge carried by Jimmy Hill, against Rovers, dating from a game in the 60's when a Rovers result denied Fulham and Hill top flight football. Can anyone confirm this?
  14. Good call Bob.
  15. Didn't Le Saux Hendry and Shearer jump ship ? Agreed. And that, togrther with Moscow, is why Le Saux sticks out like a sore thumb in this team.
  16. But still a tosser all the same - and always wanted to be the centre of attention and the only thing that galls me about our WINNING (Just for you non Rovers fans reading) the P/L was that this tosser was our captain. Not underrated by me in any way or form and should be nowhere near being mentioned on this MB never mind this thread. One thing is certain - Tosser could not have laced Clayton's boots if he had been shown a 1000 times or more and Claytons' connection to the club still, and the glowing testimonies to his abilities speaks volumes to why he cannot be left out. Absolutely scandalous comments. Just because you don't like somebody's personality gives you no right to discount his monumental contribution to the greatest side we have had in modern history. I'm sorry but despite this thread being open to opinions of player's abilities, your comments go way beyond the realms of taste and in my opinion do yourself and this board no favours. Was this not the man who made Mr Coar sweat over contract negotiations before jumping ship?
  17. As I posted elsewhere - bottom of the league and a club in turmoil. Same time of year. There's a lot of similarities between our predicament now and back in 1996. Match Report Still get beat 3-1 though. What price on Lucas Neill completing the hat-trick of scouse sending off's? Fat chance of a repeat of '96 - it started with a pen!!!!
  18. Ossie would have done more but his time at Ewood was cut short by a filthy challenge from Nicky Marker at Home Park.
  19. Ronnie Clayton: Blackburn lad One club man Club captain England captain Still watching Rovers Gives ground tours Eddie Latheron Outstanding member of 1912/14 title winners (see post above)
  20. Left winger?
  21. Barry Hole? Didn't play in the 'hole' by any chance did he?
  22. Huh? WHERE IS DICKOV????????? On the bench. Runs his socks off and just wears the grass out. One of football's journeymen.
  23. Bench: Enckleman Gallacher Dickov McEvelly Lawrenson (offered to dust off his boots for us tonight at 47!)
  24. Den Which position is next?
  25. But we've nothing else to judge Hughesy on Den! And thats precisely why given our squad and position I was against his appointment. The choice of Hughes as manager represents a huge gamble by the board, and given the options available maybe too big a gamble. Theno Any appointment is a gamble.
