  1. You're right, we wouldn't be where we are now if Souness hadn't sold our best goal-scorer. But that's another debate. .........except Cole wasn't sold, he was given away!
  2. Calm down. I said might have. It was that close. Weren't you at Goodison in April '95?
  3. Just in case there are any undecided out there: The history books might have been written very differently about Sherwood's one season wonders if a certain Mr E Cantona had not been banned for half the season. I doubt that one less dismissal would have made much difference to Mr J Forrest's honours.
  4. Get rid of 'Commercial Ken' Beamish for starters - he's more suited to Supermarket Sweep.
  5. It's the one at the back of Albion Mill. You get to it from LBR by turning down the hill on the bend on LBR. Used to me a night club I think and has just be re-opened by a guy who also runs a restaurant on George Street in Chorley. Can't remember the name at present He was telling me abot the place a few weeks back, but I hadn't realised it was already open. He is very interested to attract fans on match day, also very keen to know what fans would want to eat. I suggested chicken Balti Not being local, I could well be wrong but I think 1864 is talking about the Navigation and Paul is talking about The Waters Edge (same canal, but some distance apart). I'd love the Waters Edge to reopen, it was my pre-match pub for quite some time, plenty of room, pool and pinball, reasonable beer (cheap too), giant screen, pretty much all you needed. Very unlocal! (Thank God there's still only one canal in Mill Hill!) 1864 is indeed on about The Water's Edge. It is opening again. Get it in t'Travel Guide.

  7. I'd rather listen to a duet by Gerald Jackson & Wendy featuring Ken Beamish!!!!
  8. POLLING IS NOW CLOSED. (Den is off sick)
  9. What price Rovers to finish ahead of Newcastle?
  10. Home win - the Rovers star is rising! (as predicted by The Great Simon Garner in last weeks LET) (he also called the draw at Citeh)
  11. Al Before you go, you do not say how you would deal with a team of staff which you inherit by promotion or appointment, two very common scenarios these days.
  12. What changed is, in my opinion, the board were finally made aware of the division Tony's presence could have on the camp, as a player Hughes would have seen it first hand. A point, had Tony Parkes been fired before Souness arrived would Souness" personal battles gone on with the likes of Dunn and Cole, sneaky feeling I have is that Mr "Blackburn Rovers" was somewhere in the background egging them on. Just a gut feeling. He should have been moved on long ago. What a load of rubbish you talk USA Blue. There is and never has been any suggestion that TP has undermined any manager at Rovers. I have no idea where you get your rediculous assumption from. Incidentally your management philosophy is exactly what gives capitalism its unacceptable face. Employees are people, not some kind of disposable object that can be thrown away when no longer required. Have you ever been sacked? I'm sure it must be devastating. I too have been a manager for most of my working life and am proud of the fact that I never sacked anyone. Never Having sacked anyone could be construed as a weakness. You sound like one of the 'job for life' brigade which largely died out in the 1970's, well suited to the public sector or unions, (now reincarnated as Health and Safety officials).
  13. Why do so many think that there is only one mole? Big clubs are full of 'connected' people and 'hangers on'. A typical example is Bob Saxton whose son Neil was once on the staff of the Sun, although I do NOT suggest any connection in this case.
  14. Burberry is still very much part of GUS - owned by the Barclay Brothers , who I'm sure are intent on world domination... GUS own two thirds. The other third is listed on the stock market. Way off topic though!!! Too true...... .......nowt to do with a nutty choccy bar?
  15. BobF What! There is still a direct service from Blackburn? ###### I'll be on it.
  16. shame on him for making a difficult decision? for wanting to run the club his way? dont talk out your arse. as repeated in posts further up, keeping him on simply because he is Tony Parkes is not the way to go. About time we had a change A typical response from you Dan. When it comes to principles you always show that you have none. You always talk through your arse with the inevitable effect in what comes out. Incidentally Speeedie my comment about Hughes being harder to sack is perfectly valid no matter what weasle words you may say about it. There is always a place for a man with 35 years of experience and loyalty. Why??????????? Ewood Parkes has been a magnificent servant for this club, but this is not some amateur association. Just a pity that the sme can not be done with the Board to deal with the likes of Coar, Lee, Stanners et al - leftovers from the late great Bill Fox days and hardly major shareholders. Tony has done very well out of the club and will be well looked after severence wise. I doubt he will need to work again, although there is a full time role filling in as caretaker for Premier League managerial merry-go-round. Can't understand why he was overlooked for the BBE Lower bar though? Thank you and good luck Mr Parkes.
  17. Forrest. Those years as Champs of England (Cup) must have been like MU or Arsenal of recent years.
  18. Plaque is on a house in the middle of Top O'th Croft, in sight of the Darwen End.
  19. Eric Hall did stir it up between Rovers and Sherwood. The other extreme is the pre-agent days when managers had it 'easy'. I have heard that Chelsea once came in for Derek Fazackerley. Bob Saxton said not for sale and didn't tell Faz. Ban agents.
