An elderly relative of Khan (possibly his gran) was in the ICU at BRI at the same time as my mum a few years ago and we got to know his extended family through countless hours spent in the family room pacing up and down fretting over our desperately ill loved ones. Lovely, unassuming people who were understandably proud of Khan's achievements. They had a better ending to that particular saga than us, fortunately for them, sadly for us.

A quirky stat from the game - which only came to my attention because the Somerset keeper was boldly predicting that they couldn't be bowled out twice so I checked to see whether he was still batting - is that the wicket keeper on each side is called Davies and they got each other out in the first innings.

Really enjoyed this series. Thought some of the scenes in the last 10 minutes were slightly far fetched (e.g. the car chase) but I think it will scoop an award or two. The lad who played 'Dot' Cottan was especially good I thought. I've never seen anyone sip water with such menace and arrogance.
