Would like to be a fly on the wall in a Venkys v Levy negotiation.....

well this is depressing. Prospect of losing BBD to Everton and now Phillips for nowt
-
This bid won’t be accepted. Unfortunately it will lead to a domino effect and more bids coming in. Beginning of the end for BBD at Rovers.
We can argue he should have been offered a contract earlier but hindsight is a wonderful thing. He was beyond average for 3 years.
Lets enjoy the last few games, wish him well and pray we have a decent plan/replacement lined up.

It would appear that the Academy supply will provide players capable of Championship football.
However when a calibre of player above that, ie Philips emerges, it is seemingly impossible to tie down to a professional contract.
With the vast array of player scouting especially at the top level, nobody with extra talent slips under the radar.
How we solve the conundrum is open to debate, expecting loyalty is a thing of the past.
Quite a simple thing to resolve in theory, get promoted.

Still interest there, expect this to go to end of window, like anything the deal needs to suit the coffers.
Another name though is Chilean Alexander Aravena
Not fit to lace Carlos Villanueva's boots!!
I jest, thanks for the link Glenn - at least something interesting to look up and think about.

Nyambe not in the starting XI again for Wigan. Hard to fathom how he thought going there was a better option than staying at Rovers.

Jon Dahl Tomasson: I saw how Carlo Ancelotti dealt with Silvio Berlusconi and learnt about management
Here you go. Brilliant interview, hard not to really, REALLY like JDT. Interestingly it was Suhail he spoke to…..
We are lucky to have him, hope it’s for a good amount of time before he moves on.

It’s a real shame we missed out on Ahemodzic - our window would be looking top top tier if we had got that one over the line. Sheffield United fans are raving about him.
Ideally we get Van Hecke in however I wouldn’t too opposed to Marvin Ekpiteta from Blackpool. Massively underrated.
We should have pushed the boat our for him. Will be a top top player so no worries on recouping any investment. Ah well.

Get the impression TM liked butterworth, talked him up a lot.
Never seen anything to back that up. His loan last year was crap too.
Needs to drop the ego and work harder.

All quite exciting isn’t it.
JDT is now on record saying we will bring more players in and the key point, we will be ‘stronger’. None of us seem to have a clue which players that will be. Enjoy the ride!
I can’t see BBD leaving now. Venkys are stubborn and money seems to be no object so him leaving for free seems the most likely outcome.
A big question mark for me is what JDT does with Dack. Concern if he isn’t in his plans he is a big character in the dressing room and could start a rot. He seems a bit stuck in the L1 days where he was a big fish in a Danny Graham and Charlie Mulgrew sized pond. There is no doubting his ability and would love him to take on the challenge and step up - over to you Brad.

Brilliant. Here’s what happens next, alongside some story telling…
He signs a new 4-year contract on 40K a week with a 17M release fee. His contract is now worth £8,320,00.
He scores 10 goals by 20th Jan. Leeds are in the bottom three, 5 points from safety and Bamford gets injured. They immediately offer us the 17M and Ben goes.
We pay off his contract that we owe him and are left with 7.5M, of which Forest take their 10%. We now have 6.75M and Ben stands us at a loss in FFP, so we can’t sign a replacement.
Rovers pick up 4 points from 27 relying on Markanday to replace Ben. Furious, JDT walks. We hire Mowbray to steady the ship. Why would we pay his contract if he goes to another team……?

Morton looks an exciting prospect and clearly rated by Liverpool. Hope he can bring some quality.
Szmodics leaves me very underwhelmed, especially for the rumored fee. I was at Peterborough away last year and he didn't stand out, bar running around a lot. I feel we could have used that money more wisely.
Hope to be proven wrong!

Massively underwhelmed by Szmodics.
Plodder.

And you call yourself a fan.
"Moyesy, that Brereton Diaz lad is worth £20m, nay bother".
Be worth £30m when he signs his new contract and we storm the premier league!!!!! (My words, not Moyes….)

Just bumped into David Moyes in Glasgow airport. Politely requested he refrain from signing Mr Brereton Diaz!
His response, ‘ah, don’t know if I am - there’s a lot of press speculation about it ey’

Starting to get excited about Vale. Can’t do much more than he has.

100 pages without a signing.
What was the magical number last year? I'm predicting 196 before someone through the door.
-
He's going to go obviously - the key now is getting it done and the funds ASAP.
We can't sell him the day before the window closes and then try and fill the gap.
Step forward mr Broughton.

If we got Anel and Van Hecke, with Kaminski behind them, we would never concede a goal again

I can't imagine either GB or JDT would have joined Rovers had they not had assurances over budgets and opportunity to make signings. JDT turned down a club in the Champions League to come here....
The ways of working and how we sign players has and will change (thankfully). I imagine we will see the benefits soon enough.
Remember, with Rothwell, Lenihan and Nyambe we didnt get out of this league. If that is indeed the aim, aim higher.
I'm excited to see what unfolds but it will not happen overnight.

We will see, we started with Farke and ended up with JDT. Not saying JDT is not a nice change but he's not in the same bracket as Farke.
Look at what Farke had done prior to Norwich.

No link to Erik botheim?
Does look like a complete striker to me, and on a free.
Would be a brilliant signing

Then that’s a different story but I can’t see them not cashing in while they can.
And we still need another striker whether he’s with us or not.
I'm not convinced there are many clubs out there who would stump up the cash required.
