It would appear that the Academy supply will provide players capable of Championship football.

However when a calibre of player  above that, ie Philips emerges, it is seemingly impossible to tie down to a professional contract.

With the vast array of player scouting especially at the top level, nobody with extra talent slips under the radar.

How we solve the conundrum is open to debate, expecting loyalty is a thing of the past.

Quite a simple thing to resolve in theory, get promoted.

  2. Jon Dahl Tomasson: I saw how Carlo Ancelotti dealt with Silvio Berlusconi and learnt about management

Here you go. Brilliant interview, hard not to really, REALLY like JDT. Interestingly it was Suhail he spoke to…..

We are lucky to have him, hope it’s for a good amount of time before he moves on.

It’s a real shame we missed out on Ahemodzic - our window would be looking top top tier if we had got that one over the line. Sheffield United fans are raving about him.

Ideally we get Van Hecke in however I wouldn’t too opposed to Marvin Ekpiteta from Blackpool. Massively underrated.

We should have pushed the boat our for him. Will be a top top player so no worries on recouping any investment. Ah well.

  4. All quite exciting isn’t it.

JDT is now on record saying we will bring more players in and the key point, we will be ‘stronger’. None of us seem to have a clue which players that will be. Enjoy the ride!

I can’t see BBD leaving now. Venkys are stubborn and money seems to be no object so him leaving for free seems the most likely outcome.

A big question mark for me is what JDT does with Dack. Concern if he isn’t in his plans he is a big character in the dressing room and could start a rot. He seems a bit stuck in the L1 days where he was a big fish in a Danny Graham and Charlie Mulgrew sized pond. There is no doubting his ability and would love him to take on the challenge and step up - over to you Brad.

Brilliant. Here’s what happens next, alongside some story telling…

He signs a new 4-year contract on 40K a week with a 17M release fee. His contract is now worth £8,320,00.

He scores 10 goals by 20th Jan. Leeds are in the bottom three, 5 points from safety and Bamford gets injured. They immediately offer us the 17M and Ben goes.

We pay off his contract that we owe him and are left with 7.5M, of which Forest take their 10%. We now have 6.75M and Ben stands us at a loss in FFP, so we can’t sign a replacement.

Rovers pick up 4 points from 27 relying on Markanday to replace Ben. Furious, JDT walks. We hire Mowbray to steady the ship.

Why would we pay his contract if he goes to another team……?

  6. I can't imagine either GB or JDT would have joined Rovers had they not had assurances over budgets and opportunity to make signings. JDT turned down a club in the Champions League to come here....

The ways of working and how we sign players has and will change (thankfully). I imagine we will see the benefits soon enough.

Remember, with Rothwell, Lenihan and Nyambe we didnt get out of this league. If that is indeed the aim, aim higher.

I'm excited to see what unfolds but it will not happen overnight.
