  1. Ive always found the key to success is the full backs. You need to know who your up against mind, for example if your playing chelski you want them stuck at the back with the wingers running back. When playing someone like, say , villa ill let them forward slightly. If im playing no hopers ill have them as wingbacks.
  2. aye- but dilated peoples and j5 are hardly household names. On the continent most of the acts im on about are more comparible to 50 cent, Eminem, Snoop Doggy Dogg.
  3. DJ cut killer/Suprme ntm - Nique La Police
  4. ah yes, good album, not quite up there with 'l'ecole d' micro argent' though. Good to see french raps finally getting known in England, its virtually impossible to find out any new releases or the like when the limit of my french is asking for a beer! One thing i have noticed about it though (with help from a french girl i know) is how little they refer to bitches/hoes/guns/drivebys/niggers/crack and tend to focus on politics and the music.
  5. Maybe you should send in your CV to the Rovers board. surely jims well past retirement age?
  6. How long ago did you play for the Zebras mhead? You werent in the Wembley team were you?
  7. Rovermatt- i totally agree with you. Most continental urban (and rock for that matter) music is terrible. However the old law in Francce capping the amount of foreign music on their radio meant french rap and electro took off. The UK gets the electro (Air, Daft Punk), as its not really a vocal thing, but not the Hip hop. The french tongue is, imo, perfect for hip hop - just as italian is for opera, or southern US for country...i barely speak a word of it though. Of the acts ive listed youve probably heard some Supreme Ntm - they arent together any longer. English translation would be Super Motherf***er so im told. They did some of the music on 'La Heine' most notably dj cut killer (who also needs checking out - the french Nu-mark imo) mixing them, edith piaf and KRS One together For 'Nique La Police'. They also worked with Nas for 'Affirmative Action'.
  8. I dont follow their (mis)fortunes, but its clear Burnley are a very badly run club. I watched the draw live on SSN and was not at all surprised when i saw the 'boadroom reaction'. They looked clueless as to how to tie their shoes, let alone run a football club.
  9. 1 FC Bayern 2 Scunthorpe United (used to play in a team with one of their players) 3 Brigg Town FC (as above) 4 AFC wimbledon? (really admire the way theyve stood up aganst the MK Dons) 5 Ajax Amsterdam (for giving the world 'total football') 6 Kaiserslautern (my father played for their amateur side) Couldnt tell you the full squads of anyone but Rovers and Bayern though, i dont take a lot of interest in the fortunes of the others mentioned!
  10. i wouldnt say 5 boroughs is representitive of the genre. Im having a lot of trouble getting into it. Pauls Boutique is my favourite beasties album by a mile Quality Control is absolutely amazing, i agree with that!! Lucky that I said it was only a sample then. All of J5's stuff is brilliant though. I was fortunate enough to see them in my Students Union 2 years ago. It was one of the best concerts I've been to, top class hip-hop. I also Nu-Mark last summer in the Belfast Empire. J5 (along with the black guy from Dilated Peoples-I also saw them in the same venue in June) were also there to lend their DJ a hand. Outstanding stuff altogether. Please listen to the following acts (sorry if i sound patronising, but ive never met a brit thats heard of all four!): IAM Saian Supa Crew Supreme Ntm Waxolutionists. Anyone thats into melodic hip hop should dig these acts. Unfortunately ive never found their stuff in the UK (apart from HMV oxford st!) SSC work with Roots Manuva on a regs and IAM with Rahzel. These acts sell out football stadiums on the continent, but british attitudes mean they play to pub crowds here - SSC even did a schools tour of England to promote the french language - this is roughly the equivalent of Oasis doing a french school tour!!
  11. I apologise for my problems spelling. After 11 yrs in this country i should know better. i was pretty sure id spelt it properly so i didnt use the spell check! *Interestingly, i have just used the spell check on this post. After consulting my dictionary, ive found the spell checks wrong? can anyone help me?
  12. right behind the scousers here.. On the Rooney front as well. The peple of Liverpool have had to suffer stereotyping for years, and now the most talked about scouser in the country is of that stereotype. A bit of sensitivity please Wayne. Also a warning - this sort of disaster will be repeated again soon - maybe not within footballing circles- but the attitude of the police force when goups of people come together is, in my view, appaulling.

  14. i hate to admit it, but i think both the beddingfields are well deserving of their recent praise! and i quite like bon jovi too.
  15. i havnt checked the whole thread but i noticed Michael Moores been mentioned a few times - Id recommend 'Downsize This' above 'Stupid White Men' , especially for holiday reading - its more like a collection of essays than a book. My favourite has got to be 'why doesnt GM sell crack?'. Anyone interested in Michael Moore should check the following: Naomi Klein - No Logo Noreena Hertz - The Silent Takeover George Monbiot - Captive State (from a brits point of view as well!) Jim Rogers - Adventure Capitalist (not quite the same lines but opened my eyes to American companies actions in Africa and some aspects of the new Russian elite)
  16. Im interested to know what Amos valentines tips are!!!
  17. Finally managed to see short highlights from the Germany/Argentina match and im reasonably impressed (especially after the Euros ). If we had a decent goalkeeper who isnt an egotistical idiot id expect us to reach the final of the next WC with the home advantage. Would worry about competitive matchs against the English and Dutch, both sides that raise their game against us. Sticking up for the English it does seem that the main problem they have is the media, i would have said were it not for the tabloids they would have won a major trophy in the past ten years. They do seem to raise their game against the sides the English media see as 'big' games - notably Germany, France and Argentina. If they can get through their WC group they will do well in the knockouts.
  18. Whereabouts in the Lincolnshire area? i Used to live there and youll have real trouble finding Rovers shirts i can tell you! i suspect your nearest stockist may well be Sports World in the Headrow Centre, Leeds. this is where i get mine from.
  19. yes io thought that. then i remembered my team has Kahn and Lehman in goal
  20. i live nextdoor to the western terrace! (if you thought football fans were hooligans you should see the lot coming out of the adjecent rugby ground on a friday night )
  21. i will have to get to this one!
  22. I want him here. I am impressed with the way hes refused to take ###### from souness, and stuck two fingers up at those that think he should stay somewhere he doesnt like the management. Hes also a top player, and would give something to the team that it needs.
  23. It was. It was just being performed by the Stone Roses. i dont think the stone roses are comparible tbh.
  24. hard to chpoose between Gallacher and Speedie, both players who turned me into a football fan. Going for Gallacher to partner shearer as he did do it at a higher level.
  25. at least its an opposition fan recieving the abuse this time. i cannot believe how much abuse some people on this board get from fellow rovers fans.
