  1. Unfortunately Im not in Edinburgh, but I know how you feel! I very rarely make it to Ewood, and when i do go to away games i tend to go with opposition supporters, which means either sitting away from Rovers support or sneakily not letting on what section id purchased the tickets in! Having said that i did go down to Elland Rd on my own last season, shame it doesnt look like ill be able to do that one again too soon, specially as i know a few of the bar staff there. As for Cardiff the cost is ridiculous. Had it been at Villa Park and as student loans have just come through, i would have probably gone as my uncle lives close by. Hotel prices in Cardiff will be stupid as they know they can fill that weekend with Utd fans coming from thousands of miles away anyway
  2. There will not be a 5 year ban, as far as im concerned that was given because the English were daft enough to completely condemn the whole of the Liverpool support as hooligans, from man on the street to politicians. That wont happen in European countries, especially not after England got the ban. As for banning flares the use of flares in crowds makes a massive difference in the atmosphere from my experience. Nothing quite like being stood on a terrace fence with a flare at a game imo.
  3. chances are with Ben Harper youll like some of it and wont enjoy the rest as much - he covers quite a few different styles, one minute he sounds like Bob Marley, Hendix the next. I much prefer the reggae style stuff like 'Oppression', 'Jah Love' and 'With My Own Two Hands'. If you can get hold of it i thoroughly recommend the live stuff hes done with Neil Finn and Eddie Vedder (of Crowded House and Pearl Jam fame).
  4. Yeah i only twigged he existed when i got hold of a Ben Harper track that had him on, im quite into it now, heard him on r1 daytime the other day though. I used to be quite into it but i think the only decent rock music coming out now is on the acoustic side of things ie jj, Ben Harper, Damien Rice etc. Ill have to check this Dispatch out, ive seen the name a few times but i got the impression (admittedly from the name!) that they would be a bit too 'metal' for me...
  5. 1-1 gamst for us, camera for them. Rovers never play well against the teams in relegation positions, especially after a decent result against one of the big boys. Their defence looks as bad as our forward line though.
  6. some idiot on 606 now saying that Rovers and other teams that come out to defend should be penilised for aiming for 0-0 draws.
  7. Lately Ive been listening to: Damien 'Jr Gong' Marley - Bob Marleys youngest Jack Johnson - American singer/songwriter in the Ben Harper/Neil Finn vein Peter Tosh's classic 'Equal Rights' album The Stone Roses - Turns Into Stone album Foreign Beggars - Asylum Speakers - quality british hip hop, much better than Roots Manuvas new effort. Roni Size - Return To V - probably his best album imo, the Rahzel track is how drum n bass should be.
  8. 2-0 to the Scum, Rooney and a Ronaldo free kick after Mokoena has 'axed' someone. At least one ridiculous decision from the referee.
  9. The reaction to Dickov coming was good because we expected him to be cheap cover for Cole & Stead. Cole leaving and Steads form made him the number one choice, and therefore meant further responsibilty was placed on Dickovs shoulders. Ive no doubt had we kept hold of Cole, that Dickov would be a 'super sub', hes just not cut out for what we need right now.
  10. How dare you! How dare you! I think you'll find that's just a cover version and the mighty Motorhead's version is far superior. It drives me mad when bands get undeserved credit for covering other peoples songs. How's about Rovers coming out to the Grammy award winning "Whiplash" by Motorhead then? or "Overkill". Or "Ceremony" by New Order. I was actually quite happy with "All These Things That I've Done" by the Killers that they started playing recently. I know it's a Motorhead song, but I've only heard the Sepultura version, so I I could only mention that version. How about Sweden by Divine Comedy, or Songs of Love by the same band. The latter being the Father Ted theme tune as well. Out of interest, is it covered by old (decent) Sepultura or new (mallcore trash) Sepultura? its on 'The Roots Of Spepultura' i believe.
  11. I find it odd that Bayerns new Allianz-Arena will have safe terracing, yet the premier league will not give a thought to introduce this in England. Its possible to change it to seats if necessary as well.
  12. that just reminded me off the old Man Utd blue/white kit with loads of players names weaved into it.
  13. it would be illegal for him to say anything else surely - he could be done for misappropriation of shareholders investment a la Henry Ford.
  14. i suggest John Williams 'Imperial March' from Star Wars.
  15. I didnt know he had gone hes in the team. Living in Leeds i tend to hear quite a bit about who the fans favourites and (even more so) most disliked members of the squad are. Gray hasnt been mentioned much so he is probably doing quite well - the Leeds fans choose their favourites based on effort rather than ability it seems.Interestingly last year all the Leeds fans were raving about Dom Matteo...
  16. as in the (english) beat who did 'Mirror in the bathroom'??? 70's 2nd gen ska band? Think they did a track on Ferris Buellers Day Off as well.
  17. Do they have a few Norwegian Beckhams over there. Only this Andresen fellow we had last year was also the Norwegian Beckham. I havn't a clue! I imagine Beckham comparisons sell papers. They probably used to say the same thing about Lars Bohinen!!
  18. Who compared him to Beckham? Presumably the press? He couldn't be more different to Beckham if he tried Hes been dubbed the 'norwegian David Beckham' for almost his whole career, think it was the Norwegian press that started that...
  19. They played a secret gig at the pub at the end of my street two weeks ago. i didnt go.
  20. Gerald Ashby - Did he 'ref' several games between us and Man Utd around the title win time?
  21. I work in Leeds, and I thought it was chuffing hilarious! In all seriousness, it hasn't been the career move he was expecting, has it? indeed. Hes playing in the premiership for a succesful club and hell be able to tell that to the girls in the clubs and bars of Manchester though, so hell be happy enough.
  22. Nice to see one area of the british press isnt up its own aris. German press fancied Bayern to beat Arsenal with ease, look what happened.
  23. 1. A. Ferguson 2 Rooney 3 Neale Barry 4 Dyer 5 Alan Smith (i live in Leeds, and what he did to their fans was awful)
  24. He was still far better than anything you lot had on the pitch however old he was I thought their French (?) winger (valiou or something?) was very impressive, as was Sinclair until his injury. Was also impressed by their manager, theyll do better under him than that fool Ternant.
  25. Nelsen, Savage and Pedersen stood out by a mile for me. Nelsen is looking stronger and stronger each game, one tackle he made in particular was one of the best ive seen this season. The upfront play was dire though. I dont know what suggestion i can offer with the players available though.
