why would be happy with Hughton?

I think he would be awful choice thinking of his last 2 years at Brighton where he bought rubbish and played negative football

Chaddy managers, just like players have their levels. Mowbray is a lower championship manager at his best (not much to prove otherwise). Hughton is championship winning manager, and lower premiership at his best. Think about that, and then think which one is more likely to achieve promotion.

Downing was terrible yesterday, looked completely off the boil. Not sure if he was ill or something but he's impressed me most games. A few times there was an obvious overlap and he just stood there instead of giving the option.

The new signings johnson and downing have improved our mentality at seeing out games, however we still seriously lack creativity. I cant see much improving really in that respect unless chapman and rothwell get extended runs in the team. Holtby could make a difference but then you arent going to get rothwell, chapman, holtby and dack all starting. We just arent scoring enough goals, 66% possession yesterday but yet luton still manage 3 more shots on target. We cant carry on with armstrong on the wing it simply doesnt work.

With gallagher playing we need the ball out wide, whipping in early crosses, but their far too laboured and everytime we get into final 3rd we play it backwards. The team is just disjointed every game, its like we are confused as to how we want or should play.

  4. First home game ive attended this season, we look worse than last season.

Johnson is useless with the ball. We play far too narrow, we migt as well just have 4 cetre mids playing. Gallagher is pretty useless, as my grandad said, who is pretty level headed "that big lad up front and that bennett look like non-league players"

Shooting accuracy was woeful. Defending inept, i thought the defending had improved going off this board, evidently not. Then to sum it all up he brings on donkey dom and puts him at right mid, absolutley pissed off with seeing shite like that.

Holtby was good, only good thing really.

I still "expect" us to improve on last season, both in league position and points on the board.

However, I still think we'll end up very similar to where we were last season in both league position and points gained, whilst two very welcome results in the past couple of weeks, I can't really get too carried away in beating Milwall and Reading.

If we are still four points off top come Christmas then of course I might have different thoughts.

I would agree with that. Was arguing with mates other day, they were saying "what a great win" after the Reading game, however I said that it wasn't a great win, as I think we should be beating teams like that and like Millwall. We need to get away from that mentality of being happy with winning such games, we are more than capable of beating most teams in the league and should be pushing for top 6.

I find this "excuses" mentality that fans take up to be totally bizarre, as if people have an objection to attend, regardless of price etc.

The hard core are already going but seemingly you cannot grasp that the remaining people who could be tempted are not the hard core, they can take or leave attending, and ultimately it is up to the club to do what it can to prize them back.

Your point about having a competitive squad lacks logic too. In that if prices go down, on the face of it thats less revenue, but only if you dont factor in an increase in quantity.

Spot on, ive said on here before that personally, the darwen end being shut means i wont go, i like a sing a long, which is now non-exsistent, thats why i go away games and not at home. Im not one of them who has to go to home games no matter what, and there are plenty like that. I am not saying id get a season ticket, if DE was open, becuase i wouldnt, due to work, but id go when i could.

As you say, it isnt an excuse, i just dont want to go.

Of course you get some top quality games in the Champs league it is by and large the cream of the crops so why would anything less be expected ?

The whole thing though is a bit of a farce just designed to try and get the cream of those crops in the final stages after dragging it out for ages and having a few whipping boys in there the fill tv fixtures.  Then being able to go into another competition if you get knocked out after going so far is again another unfair farce.

The old format was better surely knock outs are more exciting and gives smaller league winning teams a better chance,

European Cup, Uefa Cup, Cup Winners Cup -  Bring them back

Yep, and the champions league is looking to be made into a 48 team tournament, with six groups of 8, with each playing each other twice, so a Premier League side would play 14 games in the group stage, they want a European Super League.

  8. I was astounded by how many fans in the away end Saturday, disagreed with me and some mates, in respect of how bad Armstrong and Bennett are, and how ineffective Gallagher is on the wing. I really do not know what people are watching, it's like they are watching completely different players at times, and well if you criticise the team that's it, smarmy comments all game "ha thought Armstrong was shite" when he passed a ball, or "Gallagher shouldn't have been taken off" when subbed and "Bennett is our most passionate player and a leader, he is first on the team sheet" well he must be brilliant then.

Disappointed result after we scored 2 goals.

The 1st goal was foul by Phillips but still Cunningham should have cleared the ball into the stand.

2nd goal was poor defending by Armstrong and Johnson didn't react to the ball coming off the post. Johnson went sleep.

3rd goal was poor by Lenihan who should have took him out but then Johnson didn't work hard enough to get back and cover.

Far too many mistakes by players cost us today. Shame after 3 clean sheets.

I enjoyed our 1st goal cause by us high pressing and winning the ball back high,

I was surprise when Mowbray took Gallagher and Johnson off at half time. I would have took off Armstrong off inside. Gallagher wasn't in the game after first 15/20 mins

Thought Buckley played well and I would start him in the next game. Rothwell didn't impact the ball as I would have like

Armstrong, Lenihan, Downing was all poor today. Travis was my man of the match

Buckley was atrocious hope we arent looking to him, hes awful, plays like a schoolboy. Awful touch.

Totally agree.  If your wide players are going to have to defend then surely Bennett and Downing are the two you need rather than Armstrong, Rothwell or Gallagher.  It was noticeable that when Bennett got forward in the second half and put in a couple of decent crosses, there was nobody covering the gap behind him and Albion quickly exploited that gap.

I thought we lost the game today during a twenty-minute spell in the first-half when we made elementary individual errors.  Cunningham was poor for the first, Armstrong went missing on the second and Lenihan was completely done for pace on the third, having got himself in a poor position to begin with.

Above all I'd like to see Graham and Dack given a run of games as a twin strike force.  Gallagher is a slightly better version of Brereton - but let's be honest that's a pretty low bar.

Really hope youre joking. Bennett was pathetic as usual, as was armstrong. Arm in particular is one lazy bastard, second goal his fault. Bennett just awful all game.

  11. Not read any comments, but by feckin feck, that was atrocious. Bennett again, awful, armstrong dont even get me started feckin rubbish. Graham is the best man up front, but knob head wont play him. The fans today were not happy with Mr play my favs. Lost all confidence in him today. Feck off tony, cant be assed with ya.

Rothwell only player who FULLY came over after game, PISS POOR.

  12. Im simply not happy with him because hes signed 3 strikers for big money and none of them play as strikers and none of them are even competent wingers, its just absolutley crazy. Added to this none of his key men, bar dack, are his own signings. Id say now, Graham, Dack, travis, williams, lenihan and bennett (because hes made him captain) are his main men. Johnson you could argue, but his passing is poor at times. When i say main men, i mean can be relied upon, are consistent in their CORRECT positions and he will probably play if available and fully fit. Bennett not always 2 out of those 3 but hes captain.

Without checking I thought we won 3-2 on that final day. From memory we were three up and playing really well and sloppily conceded two and then backs to the wall. I distinctly remember lots of Wolves fans on the pitch at the end of the game applauding us and we reciprocated.

Correct 3-2 after being 3 up at half time. Season after 2-0, i was there both games, the second game you could tell both sides were going down, even though we won.

  14. Best performance ive seen under mowbray that. Game management and intent, different from what ive ever seen, attack and attack is our best quality. However defence is so much better, willams as most of us knew, is so much better at CB.

Downinf has been terrific this season, hes such a good player.
