Peterborough chairman said the following just now, could it be us? "The disappointing news today is Gwion has asked for a move & didn't want to come on pre season tour due to Championship club who want to buy him. A fee has been agreed with them & has permission to speak to them. Myself and Manager gutted, did our best to talk him round but - He is adamant about wanting to leave & play in the championship as has been obvious for last couple weeks. He is a great lad but made things clear about this & left me/the club with no choice but to do best deal we can with 10 months left on his contract. Sorry Posh fans. "

Fair point. I think back to 16/17 and think that squad was poor and wasn't good enough, think that's why a few of us are thinking negatively, but I suppose after Mowbray took over, the last 14 games, if we'd have had that form all season, we would have finished 9th, so that bad season, was very much down to a poor manager in Coyle. Also I think some of us, myself included had the little bit of excitement (blind probably, but nevertheless) that with momentum and some good additions, we could maybe have a real good season, but the lack of signings I think has put a dampner on that.

stating the obvious but: 17/18 attacking options - chapman, Whittingham, Payne, Gladwin, Dack, Bennett, Conway, Graham, Antonson, Samuel, Nuttall, Armstrong 18/19 attacking options - Whittingham, Gladwin, Bennett, Conway, Graham, Samuel, Rothwell, Davenport Have we really improved on a league 1 squad? Undoubtedly no surely? Some vast improvement is needed in the transfer market and quickly. Defence wise, the back four bar Downing has been samey for the past two seasons, and we've conceded 105 goals in 92 games (of which 46 games were against some dire opposition in league 1) - therefore does the back 4 need improving, or is a more settled Lenihan sufficient?

Looks like it's going to rain, how ironic, Rain and England out of a tournament, everything would feel like it's back to normal.

The original JJB sports colours.

Thought his release clause was just over £1million. In that case it won't be us, cannot see us spending that on one player. If we did I think it would be onto loan signings then.

Croatia have played two sides who are very defensive in their last two games, but England aren't so they will enjoy playing us. England can't go defensive and wont, its not their game and they can't change how they've played all tourny. Be a very tough game.
-
Do you know this as fact though? Sorry couldn't resist mate

Wonder if there is something in this Maddison link, a few of their fans think we are in for him and their chairman on twitter isn't replying to any questions from Rovers fans about the link but is replying to others.

Ha, yeh sorry, meant to put 'played' - he retired 8 years ago did Nonda
-
Nonda has done okay, now at Galatasaray, plays European football regularly etc. Danny Simpson gone on to win the Premier League. Jermaine Jones you could say carried on playing a a good level in germany and in a world cup. Mame Diouf, carried on playing in Premier League, but now in Championship. Michael Keane, done regrettably well EDIT Sorry you said Keane

Makes me laugh, bet all the posters who are 'positive' about England, were part of the vast majority that jumped on the 'worst team weve ever had' bandwagon. Now we have got to a quarter their all over it, but yet people who have criticised even when the team has won are all fools. One extreme to the other with this country, lowest of the lowest confidence straight upto the we are going to win it, within 3 games won (one scraped, one againsta primary school team and one on a pennys) its disaster to euphoria. And thats allowed, but realists are negative and have spoken out of term and are idiots.

Asked one of chaps from city academy about davenport said this: Yes struggled to find form after a fairly long injury just over a year ago but finally started to show some really good form after work with Pep and carried it on to playing under Clough at Burton - Blackburn have got themselves a great young midfielder
-
Yes but we paid them an agreed fee, presume because it may have gone to a tribunal otherwise.
-
From one of local reporters: Jacob Davenport is an excellent signing for Blackburn. The kid is class and excelled in a struggling team last season. Play to his strengths and you've got yourselves one hell of a player. #mcfc #Rovers #bafc

You don't follow him, becuase he blocked you ? "no, Alan blocked me for being a fud "
-
If that is the case I would guess our budget is around £3-4 million, for transfer and loan fees with wages on top. With Rothwell probs being around £250k, Chapman would be around £1mil (with just a year on contract) and Bauer probs looking at £1.2mil. All guesses obviously, but that would be nearly £2.5mil on permanent signings, then could see us bringing in a couple of loans and maybe another permanent towards end of window when clubs are wanting to get rid.

I certainly wouldn't be expecting us to be any of those sides, mate. I fully expect Columbia to turn us over. I didn't think we would beat Tunisia in the first game (we only just did).
-
https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/june/fixture-changes-confirmed/ Leeds and Preston home games both 12pm kick offs, typical rovers.
-
It's a funny one, I don't think we have really exceeded anything yet. Look at it this way, if we lose against Columbia which is very much possible, we will have been knocked out having won 2 against two mediocre teams and lost two against two decent sides. Wouldn't have been a great tournament really.

Just seen Boro signed Flint from Bristol City for £7 million. They are still spending big aren't they. Bristol sold Reid to Cardiff also, their fans aren't happy.
-
Ha good shout, you're both right.
-
Don't know why its tagging lobt comment but anyway. Rothwell, if that's the sign of intent, then i presume the intent is to go straight back down. Poor player. On par with smallwood who wont be good enough for championship.

Birmingham Mail says we have an interest in David Cotterill. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/birmingham-city-transfers-bolton-sunderland-14775084
