I think Szmodics is too much of a 'cheeky-chap' to be captain. Let him just get on with his game and lead by example, he's not the player you want representing the team. JRC would be my shout.

I agreed with you until you recommended the only bigger joker in the packers than szmodics! Despite his young years I think carter is vocal and leads by example, I’d have him

I see Hyam got his debut...in the 90th minute. I mean wow, what an opportunity to prove his worth...still, he will be happy with a cap at least.

Hard to argue against when those in front of him have kept haaland to a pen and thereafter won the game

how could anyone be blame for Undav or Kone failures?

Also GB wasn't at fault for the O'Brien but took the responsible for it

    Should be good game hopefully.

I will break it down for you,

if the missus sends us out to the shops for a cadburys dairy milk, I go to the shop and what do you know they have sold out, now I have several options here, I could go to another shop to try and find what I’m looking for, or I could buy another chocolate bar, that’s similar.

Do you think it’s acceptable for me to return home and say, yea the one shop I tried didn’t have a cadburys dairy milk so I just returned with nothing.

sorry to have to put it in this way but you aren’t getting the football way. Yes he may have been unlucky with a few targets but hey, that’s football, these deals break down at the latter stages all the time. He had a month to get a deal over the line, other teams managed it, we didn’t, that’s on us not anyone else. It has turned out to be a very costly mistake, all very well saying he won’t do it again but we might not have as good a chance we had again. I won’t forget as easily as you

GB wasn't at fault for the paperwork error and I'm sure he won't let it happen again

Our collective board/ recruitment team, back room staff , whatever you want to call them , were all part responsible for our failures. If you can’t see that then get your head out the clouds.

All depends how those teams come down and up perform. Those teams coming down from PL will need a new manager in the case of Southampton and Leeds or Leicester maybe Everton(who knows what they do) plus squad rebuilds

    West Brom have ownership issues

GB has made the changes needed following the January failure to sign a striker and O'Brien deals done

The phrase the horse has already bolted comes to mind here chaddy, gb ruined our best chance of promotion by not getting a few simple things right in January , he might be able to give you a bit of lip service and all is forgiven but he will need to do a lot more to convince me

  6. No matter who went up yesterday I fee it’s a bit of a kick in the teeth as neither are any better than ourselves, goes down to a massive missed opportunity in our part. With Leeds, Everton, Southampton and Leicester , mix and match, there is 3 strong teams coming down. Championship will be a lot harder next year. Only team in the playoff that I feel were bigger and better than us was Mboro. Even the likes of West Brom and Norwich, Stoke, but not Coventry or Luton. Fair play to them but it’s hard not to feel a bit why not us. Had we signed a striker in January i feel it would have been. Board needs a massive shake up for the huge mistake and missed opportunity

Pickering was.already dealing with it before Pears comes charging off his line. He communicates too late, I thought that at the game and seen on replays on TV that he clearly shouts and reacts too late.

If Pears reads the play better he just let's Pickering nod it back to him.

Absolutely, shouts when he is jumped in the air, far too late, which then leads to Pickering panicking as he gets mixed between dealing and leaving it, what happens was a mess. Both at fault but I’m not having that pears was blameless. I said I’m the weeks before it that pears is a poor communicator with his defence, wasn’t the first time that there was a near catastrophe at the back with defenders not knowing pears intentions

Yesterday was a brilliant watch and just shows what we're capable of. I think if that game was 0-0 at the break, there'd be no urgency and we'd probably go on to lose 1-0 like we have already so many times this season. When you look back at the last month or so we should've won all if not most of those games. We had the hardest run in and I can't think of us being out played of many of those sides. I think with a decent striker up top we win more of those games and that should be our absolute focus this summer. It was those two late goals against Coventry and Preston that have cost us most. But looking back there have been other games we should've won and haven't.

Games at the start of the season we won when we shouldn’t have also though.
I do think the biggie was the Coventry game, big swing with that handball goal. Grates me that had kaminski been in I don’t think that goal happens

Maja and Nisbet are far higher profile than any signing? really?

These are the types of players we should be targeting. Scoring goals, match fit and the right age bracket for Rovers when you look at the permanent signings we made last summer and the 2 strikers we tried to sign in January

blimey one was just after back injury at Stoke and other about 4 years at Sunderland. He is back match fit and scoring goals for current team.

sadly we don't have the money to find a proven goalscorer at this level. that's the point you have others missed. @rover23and others like @J*Bhave pointed out today and in the past.

Literally say that we don’t have the money for this a couple of posts previously

  10. I think we are a lot further away from success than some here believe personally. I don’t think a goalscorer makes us automatic contenders. We have a weak mentality at the club since venkys arrived, no matter how many managers, players come in it all ends up the same. Negative goal difference, last minute concessions, big amount of losses, can’t come back from behind, poor performances when pressure on…

it’s a long road from changing all that . 1 or 2 signings, not my belief
