Villa have spent phenomenal money since going down and have nothing to show for it. It isn't all about spending money. You can't buy team spirit like we have. We will be hard to beat and never give up, just like this season. If Mowbray adds 3-4 players of real quality, no reason why we cant be top half of the table.

Surely they will have little choice but to make some serious cutbacks now as its their 3rd season down here and FFP should start to come into play now? Already heard that they are wanting to offload Grealish for 30 mil.

A few have mentioned Jon Nolan from Shrewsbury, but I watched him give the ball away so many times yesterday that I’d rather us look elsewhere.

What about Jack Byrne from Oldham? Young, hungry and likely cheap - released after coming through the youth ranks at city, also played for all the Roi youth teams. When I watched him away at boundary park, he ran the show. Energetic, had bite and variation of pass.

Good shout but I would like a bit more height in our team. He would be another on the short side.

Whilst I like the idea of competition for raya I'd rather it come from someone coming to the end of his career who can also help him as well. Think he's the hottest prospect at the club and I don't want him to lose his place and confidence. I personally wouldn't swap him for karius.

Fielding is 30 so while possibly not too close to the end of his career, he could still pass on something to Raya I feel.

  4. Tasty match. Fulham deserved the lead after a good first half (or v poor first half from Villa). Lucky not to have their right back sent off tho.

Second half Villa started like a completely different team and were unfortunate to not level it up. Grealish showed why he is highly rated with one run and shot that was sublime but then showed why opposition fans despise him when he should have been given a straight red. Feel the ref was trying to even things up with that decision.

Fulham then lose a player but show grit and determination mixed in with some highly blatant sportsmanship and time-wasting to see out the game.

I think a few Rovers fans are hoping Villa win, as it is then more likely that Cairn will be transferred and we will get part of the profit. Sounds like a close game so far.

We could get a larger whack should he become a premier league captain for a season before he then moves.

Actually most of the money "blown" was on Jordan Rhodes - which has been well established as not a Kean signing - and the ridiculous influx of Portuguese players which was done at the behest of Venky's "global advisor" Shebby Singh. So, nice try, but as much as I love to criticise Steve Kean I'm pretty sure we ended up in net profit as far as his transfers are concerned. For every signing we sold somebody to at the very least cover the excess, either in transfer fee or wages. We also ended up with a @#/?ing shit squad but that was an inevitability.

This would confirm you are right.

  7. Belgium have their 'golden generation' but it seems they are underperforming the same as when we had ours. On paper, individually, you would have to put them up there in the top 5 but they never seem to gel as a team in the major comps. They have at least four players you could call truley world class but as a team they always flatter to deceive.

Fulham and Aston Villa are fighting for at least £160 million from a share of the Premier League’s multibillion-pound broadcasting rights deals when they contest the playoff final this weekend.

That could rise to £280 million should the victors then avoid relegation next season.

Puts our meagre winnings from gaining promotion from the third division into very painful context.

    No pressure then.

Why does chaddy get so much grief for posting updates? I CBA trawling through various online sites for Rovers items, so chaddys postings are very useful.

I dont think he gets grief for posting updates.

He lives for linkage - which is fine. I think he grates on most for other reasons of which I wont go into detail - I will let you find out for yourself as a relatively new poster. He gets to everybody eventually.

Dya know what I find crazy? I find it crazy how you can have a strong opinion on something like this when a) you have know idea what it’s actually costing. b) you have no idea what the guy actually brings to the team / group and finally c) why you’d even be bothered when it’s not your money.

    It’s just weird.

By that logic though, we shouldnt have been bothered about the millions wasted on Murphy and the like.

Very technically gifted and for me if utilised properly behind the striker in a number 10 role he'd be more than good enough to play at championship level. Saying that, we've got Dack so would Oztumer want to come and play second fiddle? Probably not.

I think he can play left as well behind the three - so not necessarily second fiddle.

    Joe garner

    Adam Armstrong

    Paddy McNair

    Jack Baldwin

    Lewis grabban

    Hakeem adulken (however it's spelt)

    Otzumer

    Sacko

Would be happy with a few of these . I do feel we definitely need a cm a cb and a striker .. to add to the sound of the team we already have in place

Should be all over these two as they are out of contract. Nothing to lose, good ages and would definitely add to the squad.

I would be looking this winger Hakeem Adelakun. Out of contract in a month. Got pace and skills.

List of championship clubs who are out of contract in a month. (Dont know how up to date it is.)

Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill would be good.

Many others have put this name forward before you now start claiming it.

    Adelkan i mean.

If he gets 1.5 million to actually spend without selling I think that's a small step forwards again like last season comparing to the years before that.

Not great obviously but a slow patient build this time is probably the best way. Just don't spend it on the likes of Samuel or Gladwin !!!

    Not really, o

its the same outlay as last season but a league below. Double or triple and id be happy if consolidation was the aim

Just looking at the players Spain, France and Belgium have omitted from their WC squads. Think it shows where we are strength and depth wise...

Naingollan (belgium), Fabregas, Marcus Alonso, Morata, Bellerin (Spain).

Payet didnt make the French squad too.

  16. Hoilett is not the type we should be looking at even IF we had a chance of taking him on. Turned into a billy big balls after a few decent performance for us in the top division and thought he made it. Admittedly, been performing better at Cardiff but a fragile attitude like that I would avoid. Young, hungry and a step up remember.
