Too much speculation around Diaz - would be tempted to leave him out. Having said that our options for the left doesn’t look great…

To be honest I would be more than happy with 1 CB coming in this summer. Aslong as that player is of quality. Some people may laugh at that considering where we are currently at, however with Carter and Wharton set to return and Phillips set to sign a new contract then I don’t really see it as a problem position for us. 
 

LB is actually my biggest area of concern. Pickering has lost his confidence and is no where near the player he was 9 months ago. Why we haven’t firmed up our interest in Styles is beyond me.

Has to be the team IMO. Hoping Carter is fit to take Phillips out the firing line but I also don’t fee he has looked out of place. The only thing I would say is that between him and Ayala and Phillips they are too safe in the passing - it’s all sideways. They need to be abit more ambitious and be prepared to be more progressive, skip a man and get the pass right. 
 

Oniell sacked doesn’t change anything - Stoke are there for the taking. Get the win and our start to the season looks exceptional again.

Markandy and Dack to start on the weekend? 

I’ve taken a break from this forum and all Rovers news the past few days. The worrying slump, Diaz out rumours, VanHecke to Sunderland and our lack of competency in the transfer market were to depressing to bare. 
 

Without reading through numerous pages am I right to believe that getting VanHecke back isn’t dead? Completely changes the the outlook on our transfer business if so. 
 

It doesn’t look good at the moment but things could change quickly:

- We could quite easily win our next two league games against Stoke and Blackpool or at least nab 4 points.

- VDB and JPVH sign up 

- Phillips new deal 

- Dack cements his place back in the team 

On top of that we 100% need an attacker with pace and LB. 

One can dream.

Van Hecke is the best CB to have played for the club in the last 10 years IMO. Easily worth 8m - I reckon we could get him for 4-5 tho

Interesting game this. If we had played on Saturday then I would see this as a nailed on win - however it’s a short turnaround from the gruelling game against West Brom.

I would be very open to some rotation.

I think this may be the first time we see a team sit in against us so will be interesting to see how we overcome it.

I don’t disagree however difficult to call it a mistake yet. Phillips might really step up and prove he capable of handling this level.

It’s a real shame we missed out on Ahemodzic - our window would be looking top top tier if we had got that one over the line. Sheffield United fans are raving about him. 
 

Ideally we get Van Hecke in however I wouldn’t too opposed to Marvin Ekpiteta from Blackpool. Massively underrated.

Yeah don’t disagree with that - would be good to get someone in who can cover both rb and lb 

For me a CB of real quality (we all know who that is) and a goal scoring striker that suits the system gets us firmly in the mix for playoffs. Unfortunately we don’t have the quality across the squad to push for top 2.

Was thinking earlier how well Weiman from Bristol City would fit in upfront for us… we’ll out of our budget though.

If Diaz goes I can 100% see Birmcevic being our replacement. Knows Tomasson and would directly fit in his fluid front 4.
