But you can do both, surely?

Say, another 500 at Ewood, leaving another near 1000 at the DW on the day to cover off your example.

No i agree with you Matty was just surmising reasons why thats all.

In a 'normal' season there would probably no pay on the day.

At least this way they re catering for all fans circumstances. As for numbers maybe less pay on the day especially as its Cash Only (now thats bizarre) which i think will slow things down when you really want to keep congestion to a minmum.

Surely it would be easier from Wigan’s point of view to send us as many as possible (say another 500 considering it’s only Thursday morning) and get them sold beforehand, instead of a horde turning up on the day without tickets?

Nowt as queer as football club logistics…

Maybe keeping the options open for those that want to leave a decision to until the day. With covid restrictions changing ( 7 days isolation instead of 10 with two neg tests) some wont know until the day whether they can actually go or not. Plus the ultra cautious who just want to know they re negative before buying a ticket and knowing they can  actually attend and not waste money by buying in advance .

    Sign of the times ..

Looking at this in a positive frame of mind, we are still 6 above what could be deemed a play off rival, who are sixth. We have a game in hand and a better goal difference. They came to Ewood on the back of 3 wins, so like  us, are in decent form.

It goes without saying, a win would have been wonderful, but it was important not to lose, given the opposition.

We are still in with a great chance of the top two, so all still to play for.

So far as the game was concerned, hard after the first 25 minutes, but an awful pitch given the rain. Very solid at the back again, all hard working and yet another clean sheet.

With a two week break from league action, we can rally the groups. To me now, it’s a case of one game at a time, with fingers crossed, we don’t sell anyone.

We ve 21 games to play yet ..you re talking like were down to the last 6..!!

Long way to go with many a twist n turn ..

It's all well and good and I'm happy they are doing something to try and develop things.

A couple of issues. One is that those children are at an age where they won't have the cash nor freedom to go on their own steam and will need adult(s) to agree to pay for them and accompany them. This makes it unlikely unless they are getting freebies or travel/supervision provides.

Second issue is that it is all quite pointless if at the same time the club is pushing established supporters away through ridiculous pricing and schemes (20% fall in season ticket holders in less than 2 years)

Im also happy JH with what the club are trying to do...its a good start.

Most on here were going overboard in  their praise to Stanley giving away free shirts to Primary kids over the last few seasons. We re going one better by actually getting the kids on the ground... and... whilst  having a little  success on the field. Its a taste of match day football for the kids ..got to start somewhere!

For all Stanleys initiatives with the free shirts etc  they still can t muster 2000 home fans and are more than happy to give over half the ground to Away supporters...

I would still like the club to lay on subsidised Bus travel to home games from different areas in and around Blackburn and areas like Accrington Great Harwood  Ossy and the Ribble  Valley ..maybe giving those younger fans a chance of actually getting to Ewood safely without being denied the chance because Mum or Dad dont want to or cant afford to go.

And we’ve seen the collapse of crowds for midweek games.

Of course, money talks, always. But they need to think very hard about decimating match going fanbases across the country, as once they’ve gone, it’s bloody hard to get them back, as we know all too well.

At Championship level it may be less of an issue as TV money makes up a a pretty large slice of club income already, but get to L2 and gate receipts/food and drink income is absolutely vital.

    Oh i agree Matty.

The point im making is we ve gone to not seeing a 3pm game on tv ,to seeing illegal streams ,to seeing Red button games and finally PPV games on Saturdays at ..3pm.

The initial argument was to make no games available due to the impact on clubs match day revenues. Thats slowly been 'forgotten about' over the years  so its more than plausible that at some point 3pm games will be shown via different PPV platforms.

You can only imagine it’s a negotiation tactic to get more cash out of Sky… or the clubs really are that stupid.

Already snuck in the RED button on Sky feature and also the pay per view for to watch games on Saturday Matty ..now other platforms ie Amazon etc see a chance to get involved.

Clubs get paid enough they will consider it .

I'd rather be on 20 points now and own Brockhall than be on 26 with it out of the clubs ownership and set to lose most of our decent players for nothing because we can't renew their contracts.

Bit easier to make up 6 points than it is to get hold of a setup like Brockhall.

I'll come back to my question again which still hasn't been answered properly. Why is it that we are in a position whereby we are having to sell valuable fixed assets to avoid FFP sanctions despite having billionaire owners whilst pretty much everyone else in this division can manage their finances without breaching FFP and without selling training grounds?

Nothing has changed has it? The club is as much of a financial basket case run by charlatans and incompetents as it was 10 years ago.

According to the 'experts' in the media - and I use that term loosely because I think most of these people just regurgitate what Waggott tells them - the Brockhall sale was required to avoid sanctions.

So hold on, are we really supposed to believe that a sale of Adam Armstrong for £15 million was barely worth even half of the shortfall we had to make up to avoid a sanction? Seriously? Our finances were in such a hideous state this summer that the £10 million(ish) cash we got for Armstrong was still leaving us £16 million short of what we needed to avoid sanctions?

So a shortfall of £26 million needed to be plugged? This a club that limited transfer spending to relatively small fees over the previous 3-4 windows since the purchase of Gallagher in 2019?

How on earth can that happen? It is either gross mismanagement or something sinister going on because I refuse to accept that we can be so far off the scale in return for a Championship relegation scrap and a squad with very little transfer value.

It might be acceptable had we now got a squad filled up with valuable established players on hefty contracts with value in them but that is a long way from being the case.

Reading the article JH sounds to me  like the full 16 M wasnt required to clear FFP?. Sharpe says it gaves us 'headroom' which to me sounds it was more than enough to clear it and more.  Sounds like they may have banked a bit for another rainy in the future!! !

Also Armstrong sale came too late and will be used in the next financial year ?

Totally agree with you  though financially we are a mess !
