I don't think I can recall a time where our test team will look so unbalanced, if Buttlers going to play he should keep, Add the extra batsmen and stiffen the top order. The squad looks unbalanced and seems to littered with Smiths vanity picks, the top order looks a fragile as I can remember.
103 for 5 before a recovery confirms that fragile comment.. At least Keaton Jennings got 46.

With the debate on the QPR thread thought I would give Loots his own thread.
Comments on the blue and amber thread suggest they had reservations on his kicking and coming for crosses but a good shot stopper.

Very good point.
Paul Hurst drop him as number 1 there? Correct?
Hurst brought Henderson in on loan for the season

Leutweiler's name takes some effort to spell correctly, which is annoying. That aside he was Shrewsbury's back up keeper when we bought him, so logically you'd have to assume he probably isn't a Championship standard keeper. We might get through with him in the nets for a couple of games, but if we're talking long term then I think it's inevitable it will cost us a few points (as Kean and Eastwood did on a regular basis a few years ago, although granted both were much less experienced).
For the time being it is what it is, hopefully he'll see this as an opportunity to impress and put on a hell of a performance.
Leutwiler was first choice keeper for Shrewsbury in 16/17 season 43 league appearances and 29 the year before. Most Salop fans were sorry to see him go I seem to remember when he signed

Royal Garrison has definitely closed down and being redeveloped into flats.
Tad confusing with all the new signage

Where will you grab a lunch time pint? The Royal Garrison closed down many years ago. The excellent pre-match watering hole, The Sumners, has been demolished. There is still The White Hart I think. On the town centre side there are the town centre pubs. Nothing near the ground that I can think of.
Think The Royal Garrison has reopened.

Am I alone in not being too happy still about the game yesterday...
Firstly, the penalty decision is one of the worst ive seen its clearly blocked with both hands above his hewd. Shocking!
Rothwell (who I'm a fan of) needs to bury that chance.
The penalty appeal on Palmer looked another pen but maybe those behind the goal can tell me different.
The Palmer mazy run then ballooned effort should be hitting the target.
I'm a big TM supporter and like him a lot but seems common that in games we should win we draw and in games we should draw we lose. Would be nice to start seeing a few more 3-0 wins with little hanging on or panic mode defending.
Happy Sunday men ?
Wouldn't say it was common that in games we should draw we lose. We have only lost five in the last 49!

Mogga on BB from the above LT article - "With respect to 19-year-old Ben Brereton he’s not going to go out there and start organising the first line of defence"
And, again, there you have it. Mowbray doesn't trust him defensively. Which begs the question, why pay £7m when we don't normally go above £1m?
The wider point is Mogga's preferred 1st XI is still full of players he inherited, despite bringing in over 20 new players. His success rate in the transfer market is fairly poor.
Which begs the question whose signing is this?

I'm surprised we brought on Rodwell rather than Williams tbh. Then we could have kept Rodwell to tighten up midfield later in the game. Either way losing Lenihan was a big blow.
Also same problem of not being able to retain the ball once Graham went off. Brereton looks like he should be a target man but I see why Mowbrays plays him wide as he drops deep, likes the ball to feet, and seems terrible in the air. I'm just so confused by why we signed him when we have half a dozen people who can do a job on the wing, but only one proper striker.
Anyhow for next game I don't think Mowbray will be devastated, we just need to learn from that experience. Maybe we would have been better to put Armstrong up top when Graham went off and just played the long ball over onto his pace. Hmm. Genuinely don't get what putting Dack up there does for us. You could argue that part of the reason Swansea scores those three was previously Dack was dropping in to support Evans and Smallwood, and when Graham went off he couldn't do that any longer.
Williams is left footed would have meant three left footers in the back four making it unbalanced

Personally don't see Waggott lasting twelve months with these pearlers. It's pretty apparent he's getting twitchy on attendances. Suspect he bulled them up to Mrs in the summer

Heard that some Rovers fans booed him on Saturday. Which if true is appalling behaviour in my book.
Can anyone confirm that?
It was only the once from memory. It wasn't like he was booed on a regular basis. It was a fairly typical Lowe performance with the game largely passing him by.

Rodwell bossed the game in his time on the pitch against Bolton..Stood out by a country mile
There was a moment towards the end of the first half when we were under pressure when Rodwell passed the ball deliberately into touch deep in the Bolton half so the whole defence could move out and regroup

A bit glass half empty maybe? You get no extra points for playing well, although it is better to watch.
I think not knowing his best 11 could, in some way, be a positive thing at times because it keeps people competitive and perhaps, due to the amount of options we have. It's going to be difficult for TM to pick his best 11 but it would be good to know what the spine of the team is going to be consistently. The only 100% starters at the moment seem to be Raya, Mulgrew, Lennihan, Nyambe, Dack, Graham... Leaving the rest to fight it out. So looking at it i'd suggest it's more accurate to say that he doesn't know what his best midfield is, considering that is where most games are won and lost it's something he needs to work out soon if we want to be more consistent. I'd be building that midfield around Joe Rothwell, he's definately the one that could fill that void of ball playing class that we've lacked since Cairney left.
There was a stat given out on radio lancs on Wednesday night which was along the lines Smallwood had started 50+ games in succession he was available for don't know if that is correct but his appearance on the bench last night was quite a statement from TM about a player who had previously been a 100% starter

Played a number of diagonal passes in that first half right on the money to Beno

The change to three at the back reduced the effect that Bolton's forward had in the air by him targeting Bennett in the first half. From 60 mins there was an element of bus parking think Tony has some Italian blood in him old school defend the 1-0

Raya plus his kicking was excellent today

Thanks for posting this Chaddy. Some degree of complacency here expecting to bounce back at first attempt but concentrating on youth. The old addage you will never win anything with kids springs to mind. Sounds like they are targeting a non test selected Aussie batsman as next summers overseas player
