I like the ideal of Gelhardt as a player and think he fits JDTs style…but he’s not the goal scorer we’re after.

If Leonard is going I wouldn’t be surprised if Gelhardt is his replacement…Probably what Travis wages will be going towards as he won’t be cheap.

Didn't have a good time at Sunderland last season at all. Gelhardt is not an out and out striker from what I've seen. If he did come in I can't see him scoring more goals than Siggy, tbh.

The LT reckons there's nothing in it either

If he's 3rd or 4th choice and the club needs to free up funds to sign players who will make the starting line-up then it makes sense.

If it's been done purely as a cost-cutting measure with no incomings to compensate then it's a ridiculous move.

JDT's press conf will tell us more

    I doubt it tbh

He cost us two goals yesterday - he was awful.

He was a really useful makeshift RB (albeit he didn't have the close control or passing to play there - the additional size he brought to the team was a big boon), but he's let us down at CB.

Wouldn't say it was his worst game yesterday but he has been a lot better. Had a big assist for Sammis goal though

Hill going back is a blow. Thought he was decent at RB and when the injured players came back, was hoping he'd get moved back there.

If we bring the Crewe lad in then fair enough but that doesn't give us any back up/competition for RB.

We've been linked with a couple of full backs as well though, one of them was the Rotherham right back,/wing back yesterday.

    Didn't particularly impress me though

So we sell Szmods and Wharton in Jan to pay the bills then cut the budget and shift another in summer, then with running costs down even more they then shove some money in next autumn.

By then we are on a fast track to relegation after losing the 3 or 4 quality players we do have to be replaced by more GB sought cheapos.

And we are still owned and run by this lot so nothing is gained and everything is still lost, not good at all.

We really need to be selling no more players and they need to be putting more money in.

I realize this is probably pie in the sky stuff but just putting it out there. Would people be happy with this ?

Do you think there could ever be a situation similar to what's happening with Jim Ratcliffe at Utd, whereby Venkys would be willing to accept a substantial cash injection from a third party for a minority share in the club ?

They would maintain overall control ,but the new investors would have the say on any transfers in or out, thus removing the need for every decision to have to go through India before approval.

I would imagine a figure of around £20 m spent wisely could see us challenging again for promotion to the Premier League, and the new investors would recoup their money back with the fortune to be gained.

Like I say, probably get shot down for this, but it's just an idea to get us out of the meandering situation we're in at the moment.

Plus, is that person or persons out there ?
