I'm pleased with the signings he made. Armstrong at 1.75 million pounds with adds ons rising to 3 mil is a bargain and steal. Palmer is good loan signing and Davenport should be very good signing.

Would I like another striker, winger and centre back? of course but we could do that during the loan window.

As we haven't brought in any of those players during the last 3 months what makes you think that we are going to bring any of those positions during the next couple of weeks? And I thought you wanted an experienced back up goal keeper as well?

Yes I would have been delighted with either Brereton or Freeman signing. Why was it left so late? well a number of reasons cos clubs prices were unrealistic and over priced, Clubs wouldn't sell until they got their targets in 1st, player came available at the last day or 2 due not playing or being part of squad.

Mowbray got his Millwall pre match media conference tomorrow. I'm sure he will be asked

JH, sorry pal but you are fully of conspiracy theories at the minute. I used to fully enjoyed your posts on here but you have clearly change.

You said the other day that you expected 3 more permanent signings and told me that Gallagher would be in the squad on Saturday. What's gone wrong?

Their both shite. Don't talk tosh.

Garner for a million pound 10 goals last year in the Championship in 32 games. That's more than our current alternatives to Graham,(Samuel and Nuttall) managed combined in league 1 last season. As for Windass he has an eye for goal and something that we desperately lack which is pace.

Yup.  The fact that we offered £4 mil for a midfielder, then suddenly chucked £5 mil at a striker suggests we completely panicked.  It just seemed scattergun.  Ipswich got 6 or 7 through the door comfortably.

Hurst had a clear plan sign players that he had seen last year that could be bought for a reasonable fee and could be improved. Whereas all Mowbray appeared to have was a few lists.

  4. Failure we've done exactly what I feared we would do when we got promoted which was fail to strengthen significantly. We are barley any better than last season, a relegation battle beckons, no width and one striker.

It looks to me that Mowbray has been given a good budget but simply didn't know how to spend it, he kept talking about A lists B list and so on but it looks like he had so many lists he didn't know which list to use and we were scrambling about on the final day just trying to sign one player despite Mowbray earlier in the week saying he wanted 4-5 players. I also don't buy the argument that Mowbray won't pay over the odds for a player given last season he paid £500k for Samuel and £300K for a reserve left back.

Struggled hahahaha give up. We got 96(!!!!!!!) points ffs.

We hardly romped home though did we. We were promoted with just 2 games to go. We were just fortunate that when we dropped points at Gillingham and Bristol during the run in Shrewsbury failed to take advantage otherwise it may have been a different story.

Finishing 14th in our 1st season is an achievement and then season after we can challenge for playoffs season after.

One problem this squad is not good enough to finish 14th . Its a squad that is barley any better than the squad that struggled to get out of League 1. A relegation battle looms unless something happens in the next 2.5 hours.

If we finish around 14th I would be more than happy.

Wow how ambitious. Would you also be more than happy to Finish 14th and then the likes of Dack and Lenihan leave to go to clubs with more ambition which would no doubt happen.

Its typical of our luck over the last few years Venkys finally appear to have stumped up some decent money and now the manager won't spend it

What makes you think we haven't?

We have spend money on Armstrong and yes Mowbray has done the right thing by NOT over paying for players

If you want to achieve anything beyond scratching around the bottom half you are going to sometimes have to pay a bit extra as fees are inflated in football today thats just the way it is. Unfortunatley Mowbray is an old fasioned sort of manager and his approach has shown to be just that this window hence so few signing despite Mobray himself saying last week he wanted 4-5.

  9. The attempted Bauer signing seems a strange we apparently  bid for him a couple of months ago and haven't gone for another centre back since then surely it wasn't Bauer or nobody for Mowbray. With Downing not making the bench the thought of Lenihan or Mulgrew going of injured in a game and Williams playing at centre back terrifies me.

We desperately NEED an aggressive forward. As a starter, as a last 20 minute man, whatever at this stage - we need a viable alternative.

I think that Tony sees Armstrong, Samuel and Nuttall and Graham as making up his 4.

    Very worried at this stage

Surely an experienced manager like Mowbray who knows the Championship well can't think that Samuel and Nuttall are adequate however I fear you are right.

Sharpe said he isn't aware of Freeman having a medical.

Says if there is a perm signing today then it would likely be him.

Probably no signings today absolute joke

Incredible that we are could be going into the second game of the season with no backup to Graham (who we all know can only last for 70 minutes). Will be really disappointed in Mowbray if that happens as its should have been a priority.

  12. I can see what will be said at 5 O'clock now 'we tried a number of things but for one reason or another they didn't quite come off, but we still have the loan window to get players in'. Which will equate to a young unproven kid from a premier league under 23 team. A very disappointing window.

  13. Not at all confident that we will get anything done today, if we have £4 million to spend on one player why have we left it until the final few hours? It seems like we have no clear plan of who or what we want to bring in during this window.

    Nyambe               Lenihan                  Mulgrew               Bell

                                 Bennett                  Evans

    Armstrong                           Dack                                  Palmer

                                                Graham

Subs: Leutwiler, Downing, Williams, Rothwell, Smallwood, Conway, Samuel

But hopefully 2 players brought in tomorrow to replace Samuel and Conway, as we need better attacking options on the bench.

  15. Derby's squad is ridiculous how do they continue to evade FFP year after year? The other night they played 1 up front yet on the books they have Marriott, Martin, Blackman, Nugent, Jerome, Bennett & now Wells with Waghorn set to sign. The other night not even on the bench were the likes of Forsyth, Butterfield, Blackman, Martin, Hanson, Olsson, Jerome, Anya, Thorne & Huddlestone and you would suspect that some of them are on very big wages and that was with Evans and Marriott not ready for selection yet.

McGinn would be a quality signing but id imagine If Celtic up their bid he will be going there.

At least if the link is true it suggests we have a few bob left to spend

Celtic have been bidding for about a month and are still haggling over about £2 Million (which to a club like Celtic isn't a lot) & I'm Hibs would much rather sell to an English team. Personally if I was Celtic I would be focusing on buying a centre back as failing to buy one may well cost them a Champions League group stage.
