If we want more energy in midfield look no further than Rothwell, yet time and time again he just gets overlooked

Something just isn't right about the situation! I honestly don't get it. Only thing I can think of is that Rothwell is a twat is training. Which is probably far from the truth!

Palmer has scored for us though, to be fair. He is wasteful in possession at times, but I do think he gets way too much of a hard time on here.

Palmer works well when the game is quick! Can be very dangerous like Bolton & West Brom. Same with Dack. Both getting stick for no reason. If they both have the support they will both play well!

The problem with dropping Dack is that whilst theoretically he might benefit from the kick up the arse of being benched for a couple of games, no - one else has looked particularly capable of  scoring in his absence. Whilst he was really poor at Preston I thought his commitment levels were far better at Wigan but he was fighting a losing battle in that side on the night.

Massive shake up needed for me, whilst the manager might have caused it with his bizarre selections, the players still need to know that the lack of commitment shown in the last couple of games isn't acceptable. Personally I'd go

    Raya

    Nyambe Mulgrew Downing Bell

    Travis Reed Rothwell

    Palmer Dack

    Brereton

Maybe go 2 up top with Graham and Brereton together up front after an hour if that isn't working.

Doubt TM will do anything like that, I would expect changes to be kept to a minimum with more of the same and a primarily safety first approach again.

But why can't he see it and action the changes? It's just baffles me!! Take a risk! Play our quality! If we play well and loose I'm not bothered! If he keeps the same team or makes very little change then he is not fit to manage this club! Times ticking Tony!

I may seem slightly bonkers but I can see us banging a few in on Saturday, 4-1 Rovers. Sometimes you need knocking down (twice in our case) to come back stronger. It's impossible to imagine the team spirit has been completely ripped out in such a short space of time.

That depends on the starting 11

It was so strange, the switch to 3-5-2 at halftime seemed to be working to an extent before Rodwells clanger/slip.

We just weren't moving the ball quick enough, and very little off the ball movement. If Mowbray really wants to play that going forward then a proper left wing back in January is a must.

    My Team for Sheffield Wednesday:

    ----------------------Raya--------------------------

    -------Rodwell-Lenihan-Mulgrew----------

    Nyambe-------------------------------Bennett

    ---------------Reed-----Rothwell--------------

    -------------------Palmer-------------------------

    -----------Brereton-----Armstrong---------

Now I know no one is going to be thrilled to see Rodwell at the back here, but the only other option is er Downing or Williams.

Bennett, out of position, yeah he is but again who else do you want Bell? Conway? Least he has the energy to put a shift in.

Harsh on Dack, but he needs a rest/boot up the arse. Palmer and Rothwell played well in the same team away at Bolton so they need a chance.

Tony has a tough time here, he gets blamed for tinkering but then accused of not dropping non performers. One thing for sure the 4-5-1 we play is NOT working.

Not enough soilders in the middle of the park? That's been our problem this year, Evans and Smallwood trying to do the same job. You need those three in there to be creative and make things happen.

Key here is for Armstrong and Brereton to actually move in space, and play in the channels.

I think mowbray is the only one who can't see the problem. Saying that i think he can see it, he just doesn't want to break that midfield partnership up from league 1. Things have to change and FAST!

My dad has previous with managers outside the ground at Wigan, he almost had a scrap with Paul Ince which turned into a heated a gentlemanly discussion as they walked round the car park at Wigan ?Anyways... Phoned me last night at 10.40 but I couldn't answer, I knew exactly what he was ringing me about, I'd have bet every penny I have he'd met the manager after ringing me at that time. So I calls him today and lo and behold he has.

Some of you know my dad and Macky (who chaired the Ewood protest meetings), as they left the pub last night the team bus was still there so Macky walks on it pretending to me one of the staff ? when quizzed about what he was doing Macky said "I just wanted to speak to the manager", anyways as they turned round they heard someone say "alright lads?" Mowbray got off the coach to speak to them.

Keep in mind I'm relaying what was said so it might not be word for word... "what can I say? That was absolutely f*cking embarrasing, I'm f*cking pissed off, they've let the club down, they've let themselves down, they've let me down and you down. I'm absolutely f*cking embarrassed. You lot pay you money and follow us round and they play like that? Absolutely f*cking unacceptable. At which point he apperently apologised to some of the women who were present but said he couldn't help it because of "how pissed off" he was... "I tell you what though, we will f*cking win on Saturday, I'm telling you". My dad didn't say what questions were asked of him but he went on to say "I feel embarrassed talking to you after that but I've told them all exactly what I think". The conversation carried on for some time I think... Mowbray went on "I have to go (apparently because bus was ready to go) but finished by saying... "I've got to go but I'm telling you, we f*cking will win on Saturday" and thanked them for coming before he shook their hands and had some photos with them before he left.

I think there was a lot more to the conversation than that, it went on for a little while by the sounds of it but that was the main jist of it I think. Perhaps there might be someone present who can correct it or give a more accurate account and fill in the blanks that I missed. What my dad said was that he didn't just look pissed off, he looked upset, tearful almost but also fired up. From the sounds of it I think they were all a bit shocked by his reaction.

If there's anything I missed out I'll edit the post.

i Hope in that discussion your dad mentioned "drop smallwood & evans"

I imagine Mowbray will go ‘back to basics’ meaning trying to be as safe as possible so something like

    Raya

    Nyambe lenihan mulgrew Williams

Bennett Evans Smallwood Conway / Reed

    Dack

    Graham

I wouldn’t play Conway myself but I think he might, for me we’ve been that bad that we may as well gamble a bit and throw Brereton and Rothwell in

    4-1 v Preston

    3-1 v Wigan

logic dictates a 2-1 loss, the good news is we should draw the next one 1-1!

Mowbray out if that's the case! If we get anything from the game with that lineup, it will be from a set piece or an own goal in the last minute to salvage a point. Keep it up Mowbray your the MAN! (Scarcastic).

Sorry Dack need dropping. Not the same player in the last 2 games. Attitude is poor and dropping him would kick him up the ass.

I would Rothwell in the hole providing the through balls for Brereton.

I wouldn't be annoyed Dack was dropped. Rothwell is just as good if not better at running with the ball.

Go with a midfield of Reed, Palmer and Rothwell and you'll get done all day long.

Why does Dack have to start? Is it to keep his price up because it certainly isn't on performances.

    Go with

    Raya

    Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Travis/Bell

    Bennet Reed Rodwell Rothwell

    Brereton Graham

Subs: Leutwiler, Williams, Evans, Smallwood/Travis, Palmer, Armstrong, Dack

Again i honestly think its because he's had no support at all! He has talent we know that, very quick feet for a small lad. Has to start IMO. He needs quality behind him.

Your team would be walk all over in midfield.

If you play diamond shape midfield with your full backs provide the width. For me Rothwell has to start now.

What do you think of my team?

Yes i like, would be more than happy with that. Again feel as if Dack needs to start though. Just for his Goals. Put him in the middle and move Rothwell out wide maybe?. Even though i feel Rothwell is most effective in the middle running at the oppositions defence. Its a very tough one! But agreed, Rothwell should of been starting most of our games by now.

  11.

How to delete Topics, i just created one also!!

Once again tough game. Sure they will bring a big crowd also.

The defence? Well Travis should come in, bring back Lenihan IMO. Not much more to say really

Mowbray has to drop Evans & Smallwood. Said since the start of the season, they haven't been good enough. Smallwood for me never has been. He's got a good heart but he is League 1 at his best. Evans has one goodish game every 5. Both needs to be dropped.

Reed in the middle with Rodwell.  Rothwell outwide with Palmer also. Both very skillfull and the attacking threat we need. Don't think Dack should be dropped. Even though he has been poor recently. If he doesn't get support from his CM then i feel he kinda of gives up. Again he gets NOTHING with Smallwood & Evans constantly being chase down, and back passing.

Brereton up front with Graham. Lets try both of them!

The Manager HAS to make these changes in order for us to get anything. I will take a point here.

Because we have no midfield Tom. All i see Lennihan and Mulgrew do most of the time is launch it to Graham, tired and predictable. We miss out the midfield because there's no f*cker creating or controlling anything in centre mid, all we do is chase, there's no quality in there unless Rothwell plays. Every time I watch our midfielders get the ball they always seem to have someone up their arse with their back to goal and either give it straight back or play sideways, hardly anyone has the ability to find themselves in space and receive the ball on the half turn to set up play... When we do everyone is stood on their heels.

If he doesn't look at the midfield he's picked in the past 2 games and feel anything other than shame then he's kidding himself.

51st minute before our first shot, maybe that should tell us that something needs to change Mogga. He's turning out to be very tactically Inept or naive this season. I can very quickly see things turning to sh*t and Blackburn Rovers reverting to type. He/we need results and fast.

Agree with a lot of your posts! Been saying this even when we've been winning games. Spot on

    Would try this on sat:

    Raya

    Bennett, Mulgrew, Lenihan, Travis

    Rothwell, Reed, Conway/Rodwell

    Dack

    Brereton, Armstrong

We dont have any wingers..so play a 4-3-1-2 with players in their right positions. Think Travis would Do a good job as full back!

I like, would swap Armstrong for graham personally. Armstrong can't hit a barn door. Graham at least has experience and has a few goals under hit belt.

I don’t think the squad is big enough is it?

Haha I know. Basically what I mean is the likes of Travis, Brereton, Conway, Rothwell a start. Get our key players in their best position. Hopefully get something out of the next game. With the way we are going I would take a point. Get back on track.

  15. Mowbray is too soft! I feel he's been brain washed to feel that starting line up works. He's too scared to change. As a result he isn't the right man to move us forward. I don't expect us to finish high at all. But at lest show us some more passion! These dropped result are all down to the manager. If we don't up ourselves he will be under some serious pressure come Xmas!
