Armstrong isn't a winger. A good winger can beat a man and cross a ball; Armstrong can't do either.

Agreed. Armstong has one decent game in 6. Personally not strong enough and his final ball is poor. Overrated player and would have chapman & Rothwell over him on the sides all season.

    Poorly worded.

I meant, if we start him and then go on to lose the games. Not suggested he would be solely at fault just that you need your best guys playing at the start of a season to hopefully minimise those defeats from happening in the first place.

Yeah i gathered that. Was just being a bit clever. ?. Understand your point fully though mate.

Points are important early doors - I would not be risking them by starting BB ahead of DG at this point. Start BB, lose the first three games and we're bottom already. Need DG in there until BB can show that he has what it takes up front - but even then, TM seems to see him as one of the three behind.

BB gets the blame for our losses now? That would be our infamous back 4's problem. I feel a risk of starting BB for lets say half of the starting 8 games is not high.

Furthermore to the above. Our real issue here is the defense, hopefully we get 2-3 decent players in that area!

Bellamy was 19 at the time and had just got into the Norwich team that was playing in the division we were in last season. Did you not understand that point ?

Yes i do understand that point. Why are you comparing BB to Bellamy at the age of 19. It makes not sense what so ever. Different players grow quicker than others. Like i said, Bellamy was one of the best strikers in the league. BB will never be up to his standard IMO. Then again i could be wrong.

7 Million price tag on BB's head does not help the matter. Start the lad for the first handful of games and see what happens? He scores a few goals, happy days, if not stick him on the bench.... I need a few more starts from him before i make a decision.

Even with very young and in experienced players you should be able to see something. My eldest son used to work for Chris Lucketti's dad. Chris was playing centre half for Bury at the time and we got complimentary tickets for Bury games. I recall watching them playing Norwich. Bellamy had just got into their team and you could tell right away he was a star in the making. His pace, desire to get on the ball, will to win, eye for a goal was obvious for anybody watching. He wasn't the finished article because he was still developing physically but he was still a handful.

Comparing Bellamy to BB doesn't work. Bellamy in my eyes was one of the best strikers in the league in his prime. I don't think BB will ever be as good as him. But like some have said, people are jumping on the bang wagon far to soon in my eyes. Lets see what happens after a few starts this season. Then we can judge. BB's price tag does not help him in anyway.

But why the insistence that it wont work out? Do you not want him to turn out good? He's barely played, how can you at all write him off?

Althought i get other peoples points. I think i'm with you here mate. I see glimpses in him. How many games has he started? Not many. Is he worth 7m? Definatly not.

I would defiantly start the lad more.

Give what a rest exactly? Should I become absolutely hysterical at the prospect of being linked with someone, write him off before he’s even signed... let alone kicked a ball, and get all misty eyed about a player who the vast majority said was past it 72 hours ago but now seems to have inexplicably taken on legendary status?

If your reading of my post leads you to conclude that those are my thoughts on former clubs, try again without what I can only assume is blind rage clouding your judgement. I was pointing out that Downing has had a far more illustrious career than Conway, which would lead me to conclude he is a better player. The level at which he has plied his trade for the majority of his career being one factor.

Rochina was a selfish show pony and didn’t fit our team. I thought Keith Andrews was solid enough for us and got a tough time... but people are drawing comparisons more to the signing of Whittingham... who I did think would turn out to be decent. Turns out he wasn’t... Gordon Cowans was though.

Sometimes these sort of signings work out, sometimes not. Our fan base bemoan a lack of experience one minute, then claim anyone 32 years or over needs putting down. Personally, as I stated before, I’d rather us sign a winger in his mid 20s, proven and at his peak, who would regularly terrorise defences and help fire us to promotion with ease and stay with us for years to come... we aren’t going to be in the market for one of them though.

There's a difference between a younger lad not 'working out' & a 35 year old not. There is no excuse in signing Stewart Downing. I'm not bothered if he turns out to be okay. The guys 35! We need YOUNG players who want to learn and adapt. Downing is on his last legs, replacing Conway with him is utter shambles.

So puzzled by this. If we hadn't spent 7m on Brereton i would be more than happy for this to happen. The fact we cannot afford this bloke makes it obvious not to get him. We need to try & get the best out of Brereton. We cannot afford to loose Dack or Lenihan over SG. We need a bloody defender!

Interesting too that the article claims we would have to sell to buy him (pure guesswork).

But if that were to be true, Dack being the obvious candidate, we would definitely end up worse off. I don’t see Gallagher scoring 15 goals and assisting 7 more myself.

Exactly! Be criminal if that happened.

Mowbray has also said he is looking for a 'keeper, defender, midfielder, right back and attacker. He's told Sharpe 6-7 signings in the same Q&A he's spoke about Gladwin. So if people can take the information about Gladwin on board - and use that to come up a million reasons to why our summer is going to be quiet - why can't they then comprehend the next snippet of info?

If Mowbray had come out and said "expect a quiet summer...oh and Gladwin is staying even though he isn't fit" then fair enough. He hasn't. He's set his stall out with regards to what players he wants.

Get what your saying.  However It doesn't surprise me people are getting upbeat about little things. Just look back at Mowbrays ludacris comments & loyalties to average Joes last season.... Again i'm not jumping ship just yet.

Blackburn Looking For Swap Deal In Pursuit Of Rotherham Star Man - 90min by Joe Harvey

Potential swap deal for Will Vaulks, with Richie Smallwood going the other way. Looking at Vaulks's record, he's billed as a defensive midfielder, and scored 8 goals this season, and 8 goals the season before. If we're looking to improve our midfield goal-scoring tally...

Can he pass/run forward? If so we will take him!
