Would love to see Travis & Johnson in the middle for this one. Feel Brereton should start. With his current form only right for him to keep it up and gain the confidence he needs. Of course Tony wont pick an 11 without me questioning. That will be Rothwell on the bench.

I'd say in Mowbrays eyes that Armstrong is well ahead of Rothwell in the pecking order.
100%.

Mowbray was referring to last season. Rothwell did mature and establish himself as a regular towards the end. No evidence that he won't be a starter. The old guard was starting against Rangers because they had the least minutes. Pretty sure Rothwell will start at left wing vs Charlton.
Here's hoping. Him & travis are the difference for us this season.

Agreed. I honestly don't think Mowbray rates him. He's almost too positive for him. Like last season with Reed. The comments Tony made about him & Rothwell last were Shocking! I mean imagine saying you prefer Evans & Smallwood in the middle over Reed. The maddest & most deluded comment I've ever heard.

The bit I noticed was about Joe Rothwell being young and needs to develop, he needs to bloody well start.
Sigh. He won't start - Can put money on that. Some of his comments don't half wind me up. Tony, your pals need developing. Either that or getting shut of.

Surely we have to see a defender today?

I'm gutted that Smallwood , Evans and Bennett are shoe ins . And Buckley , Butterworth will be loaned out sorry too say it but big Tony as took us as for as he can. We are crying out for a big strong center half who could boss the back four a right back and left back who could defend and get forward . But it doesn't look like Tony who was a big strong center half himself cant see it . I'm very frustrated that with a better manager with abit of know how could get that bit extra out of the squad and at least get us challenging but i can't see this happening
Im giving him the first few games to see but I'm more or less with you. I see Mowbray starting the season with the usually suspects. Then come February (when it's too late) referring to the quality we have. I hope to god TM proves me wrong.

10 days until the new season, penultimate game, and Richie Smallwood is again captain ??
Sometimes the case when given the honour of captaining the team, before the ultimate doom of leaving.

Teams below. Most interesting is Nyambe playing centreback again with Magloire on the bench. Maybe that is where we are thinking of using him this term?
Tonight’s team to play
.Leutwiler, Rankin-Costello, Nyambe, Grayson, Hart, Smallwood (c), Johnson, Buckley, Rothwell, Brereton, Gallagher.
Subs: Fisher, Magloire, Mulgrew, Bell, Downing, Travis, Dack, Armstrong, Graham.
Replace Smallwood with travis and I'm liking that line up!

Don’t really know what to say to that tbh.
Think of the bigger picture. Mowbray starting his regulars? Or Mowbray starting the players that deserve to be starting?

Even if we win 5-0?
Most probably. I dont like Mowbray - last season was enough to decide that. Strange tactics & unfair comments to certain players. There is no reason what so ever to have Travis & Rothwell on the bench come the first game. We all agree on that. Like I said (one last chance) we will see how we start the season. I would rather draw against charlton playing the players we should than win with Tony's friends.

I’m not mowbrays biggest fan and believe he has made a bit of a hash of the summer window- still time. But if he believes in the youngsters and gets a tune out of them then I will happily hold my hands up that I was wrong. I will leave it 10 games before I got my mowbray out pitchfork out
In all honesty mine is his starting 11 on the first 3 games. Can sign all the players he wants and I'll be happy. But as soon as that first line up includes Evans instead of Travis & Downing for Rothwell its Tony out for me.

anymore signings today then or we done our summer business now?
Doubt it any more today. Hopefully 2 more defenders in the next few days and I'll be happy.

Nixon says Walton confirmed. Loan only.

Williams injured again, eugh. Heaven forbid Lenihan gets injured now too. Our 3 centre halves are all so injury prone.
Could be the young lad from city and Magloire come the end of August.....
I bet Mowbray is kecking his pants.

Sharpe says nothing more today but no reason to panic - told “everything is on track.”
Surely we will hear about a signing tomorrow. Ideally a GK.

Let’s be real coyle was and is a tw@t and nearly ruined us there can be no further argument on that point.
As good as Smallwood was in L1 he is out of his depth now there are better players in the squad he has been usurped by the youngsters who appear to be grabbing their chances a bit like a young Johnson did when he was a young lad. Evans should follow Nuttall as well should go on loan. It’s time to trim the squad down to 25/27 players and get them playing attacking football from the off. Like some one has mentioned there are teams much worse off than us in this league even the relegated teams seem to be on a par with the established top 6 teams. Rovers have a real chance to make an impact from the off.
If we play the quality we have i honestly think we could challenge top 6. Our problem is our Manager really can't seem to start these players. This is his last chance for me to start well - if not then i'd want mowbray out by xmas.

Not heard anything about a cash buy centre back or fraser Campbell- don’t believe that one to be honest. I’m still hoping there is a few going out the door. Nuttall and Smallwood on loans at the very least
O how i hope this is true. Please lord.

Brereton and Rothwell energy and pressure forces mistakes and Travis there to finish it off. More bite shown in last two minutes than previous 63.
Rothwell on, the games gets more exciting. (Pretend to be shocked)

Buckley, BB and Rothwell all on. Who's at left back?
Downing I think.

Awful from Armstrong - he simply has to add more end product to his game. They just look so much fitter than us; appreciate they’ll have returned before us but we’re only 2 weeks off now.
Like last season. One of the most frustrating players we have. Rothwell is well above.

Bennett over Nyambe, Evans over Travis. No Rothwell. As we all predicted and as will be the case against Charlton. He never changes.
So frustrating! Really hope we don't see this lineup in 2 weeks.

Yeap. Its almost like primary school behavior. I can't even believe that mowbray rates the likes of Evans, Smallwood & Bennett? Yes they have done their good deeds and been good servantS. But we have to have better options in order to move forward.
