I wouldn't be ecstatic to see the back of them but I'd say Travis and Johnson are a better partnership, and if Davenport and Buckley are due a step up this year it's not the end of the world. Maybe a replacement squad player would have to be brought in for if the young lads don't cut the grade

Exactly. It just seems a waste of wages on CE & RS. They need to go.

Evans, Smallwood, Davenport, Adam, Butterfield, Johnson, Travis and possibly Rodwell. Can't wait for our revolutionary 1-8-1 formation opening day.

Seriously though, as I have said a few times, something has to give here. I have a sneaking feeling Evans and Smallwood will leave

I think Rodwells offer should have been given a deadline, take it or leave it.  It makes no sense to me that pre-season has started and he is over in Australia. I wouldn't go crazy if he re-signs ,but he hasn't done himself any favours. He would really need to put performances in and quickly. If he signs somewhere else I think we might look a bit silly, the fact we were waiting for his answer.

The relief on 80% of Blackburn Rovers football club would be outstanding if both of them were to leave. It would make me a very happy person. Harsh but true.

    That's where I am.

Reading between the lines he'd like to be here and we'd like to have him, but the boy will be 24 in a couple of months. If we had a bottomless pit of money he could well develop to be worth more than that in a couple of years, but the odds don't seem great to me.

We could buy a whole new defence & keeper with that kind of money. GK & 2 defenders before we should even be thinking of anyone upfront.

Is he an improvement on what we have in the squad currently? Definitely.

Is he better than Harrison Reed? Probably not.

So whilst I think it is a decent addition, it doesn't actually make us any stronger than last year. I think the message from Southampton was basically not to even ask about a price for Reed.

It does if Mowbray starts BJ in the centre. Somewhere Reed didn't start much.

I don’t necessarily agree with that, yes play the players that are in form and dack could do with being dropped when his head goes down but some people rave too much about rothwell , he was playing in dead rubbers at the tail end last season, he still needs to be more consistent and not try Hollywood stuff all the time. Sure more game time but not in a shoehorned position, I like wingers playing on the wing

Wow. Have we gone back in time to the middle of last season? Baffling comments towards a player who only played 35% of the season. Each to there own though. Hopefully he plays more this season to prove the minority who arn't as keen.

I see dack and rothwell in the same role so one or the other in the hole behind the one up front mowbray likes to play, my above post was for plan b which we didn’t have last season. Gives us options

I think we all see that with Rothwell. But we all know Dack will be in favour over him no matter how poorly he plays. Rothwell is an absolute must even on the wing. He's too good not to start.

I may be in the minority but I’d be happy with Gallagher, unfairly judged on a horrendous season with us when he was playing with poor players for a poor manager. Still scored some good goals that year.

I would still like us to sign another winger, a Jamal Lowe or a Marcus Maddison - can also play left back. Then when we were chasing a game it would give us chapman one side, new winger on the other, Johnson and Travis/ Davenport holding, and a combo of either graham/ brereton or Gallagher/ Armstrong depending on the opposition.

Downing is more of a holding winger than a bomb these days. I don’t like Armstrong or rothwell on the wing

get rid of Smallwood, nuttall, Samuel and Evans for me

Where would you have Rothwell then? Not really anywhere for him other than the wing.

                     Graham

We are getting there I think. A good mix of experience and youth. Decent bench too.

Like that alot. Must admit, i wasn't keen on Downing. But seeing him in that team just looks right - Hopefully we see that for the Charlton game.

I think a quality CB and a FB are absolutely essential. Without them we will struggle again.

A GK and a striker are pretty necessary too.

Central midfield of Evans, Davenport, Travis and Buckley may be sufficient, but it probably needs one more quality addition.

AA, Rothwell, Downing and Chapman will probably battle it out for the wide berths. Attacking midfield is probably the only area we are well stocked in, especially when you add in Dack and Butterworth.

I suppose it all depends what formation he goes with. @Madon needs to get his binoculars out when they return to training next week.

Knowing Mowbray, he will drop Rothwell & start Downing. I would LOL if that happened.

Travis, Evan's & Davenport as the 3 in midfield, Dack and Rothwell as wide forwards behind DG. Bennett at right back.

He'll be back to 4231 and aiming it to DG's head in no time.

Would love Davenport & Travis in the middle. Unfortunately don't think it will happen with Evans knocking about.
