Will they be sanitising rowing machines, exercise bikes and other gym equipment following each individual use, similar to the procedures in the barbers?

They said they would, but they didn't.

Watching his “leaving interview” on ifollow, I got the impression that he genuinely believed in his ability to get back in the team. He got his head down, didn’t make a fuss, and even mentioned “that red card” that gave Travis the green light. Of course, everyone else knew the writing was on the wall with that cracking young footballer just waiting for a run in the side, but the fighting, belligerent and confident spirit is exactly what I would have expected from him. Can’t blame him for wanting to be a part of something he was previously integral to, and if Trav had got suspended and Johnson pulled his hammy then letting him go before the end of the season might not have been too wise.

I really do think he was a little underrated here.

Yes his game was legs, lungs and bruises and he was no progressive creative force but I think he really took care of the ball well, he rarely played a Bennett style stray pass to the opposition and he didn’t run into Rothwell trouble. A clever footballer who played to his strengths. He’s a fantastic player for the League One level and I hope he finds another team to help drag up.

Finally. I really can’t explain how refreshing he was to me when he came in. He was a decent midfielder, he was better than we’d had, and he played with a tireless honesty and commitment that really galvanised supporters and set the tempo for the League One season. He embodied and illustrated the difference between years of mercenary strollers and a team that whilst somewhat limited, would put some pride back into playing for the shirt.

Exactly what we needed at the time, and he leaves with my best wishes.

Smallwood dragged us through the first few months of our League 1 campaign when the rest of the team were struggling to get going. His and Bennetts performances against Shrewsbury at home when we effectively ended their chances of reeling us in will live long in the memory. They were phenomenal.

Smallwood was a brilliant L1 signing.

I just pray and hope we can improve upon players like Smallwood. We MUST if we are ever to move forward.

Smallwood hasn't been anywhere near the first team for months so we already have improved on him with Travis.

Travis and Evans are a top 6 CM partnership IMO. Evans is underrated.

The old adage for gyms from before Covid still applies - walk, run or cycle to your gym. When you get to the front door turn round and walk, run or cycle home. Exercise done and lots of gym fees saved.

    What about the guns bro?

In order to return, I would have to start going. I get enough exercise from work and cycling.

Thanks for the heads up...it doesn't really help though.?

"As a final note, with expectations, what we must remember is that we’ve no given right to be in the top six, and that the Championship is a league that sees plenty of ups and downs over a season, so we should manage our expectations accordingly"

The new breed of post-Venky Rovers fan, happy with a mid-table Championship finish.

Tony 'I hope we get in the Top 6 one day' Mowbray is the perfect manager for these times.

I hope you are right but he hasn't shown me anywhere near enough for me to think he might be a 'real player' for us.  I compare him to Vale and I think Vale is head and shoulders above Butterworth.

How many times do you need to see a player?  An old friend of my dad's was a scout for a Division 1 (now PL) club, scouting senior players and he reckoned he knew after 45 minutes if a player had anything about him or he was wasting his time and the player could be crossed off his list - it was fascinating to hear his observations, particularly if I was watching football with him.

Exactly, Butterworth came on at Ewood for his debut and was the best player on the pitch - strong, quick and glided past people for fun. That was enough for me, and the old friend of your dads?

Yet, yet, the majority of clubs have thousands sold...

I was looking on Luton's site and they had ST's up for sale back in March on renewal. If we'd done that we'd have already sold thousands potentially. As it stands now, why would anyone buy a ST at any football club that doesn't have a massive waiting list? You might only be able to watch half the games and never be able to sit within 2 metres of your mates. Football as the spectator sport we once knew is ferked for the foreseeable future.

Carter is not 'only a boy' - he is 21 years of age this year.

As I have said before, ability is relative to the level you play at.  IMO, if Carter was going to be a player for us at Championship level, at his age, he should already have broken through or shown much more composure and dominance in his two games for us.  Sadly, I think he is another Academy product who will just drift into obscurity or earn a crust at Division 2 or, at best, Division 1 level.  You watch these lads at levels below first team and and I think it's pretty obvious who has got something about them and has a chance to become a real player for us and who hasn't.

IMO, Jack Vale looks like he could be the real thing but others like Butterworth, Davenport, Fisher, Grayson, Magloire, Mols, Wharton etc you can forget.

Butterworth will be an excellent player if he steers clear of injury. I also don't think you know enough about the rest of the players, or have seen them enough, to write them off.

Chaddy we don't have any full back on the books who are good at attacking and that has been the case for Mowbray 3 years at the club. How many assists do our full back have in the last two season? I'd be stunned if it was as many as 5.

Nyambe had one assist this season. I don't think we had any from left back? Bennett ,meanwhile, had 4 assists. Downing had the most with 8.

  11. Some interesting Championship team stats for the season:-

Rovers had the least amount of shots in the league from inside the 6 yard box - 0.7 per game (no surprise at all to anyone who's seen us play - very few crosses go in to the danger area)

Rovers were 19th for total shots per game - 11.5

Rovers were the 6th highest scorers - 66 goals

Rovers were 22nd for number of tackles made per game - 14.2

Rovers were 8th for possession % per game - 51.6%

Rovers were 11th for pass success rate - 75.3%

  12. Summer Transfer Window - The window will open on July 27, at the conclusion of the Premier League and Championship seasons, and will run until 11pm on October 5. There will also be a ‘domestic only’ transfer window to October 16 when Premier League and EFL clubs will be able to trade with one another.
