I read an article in the Mail on Sunday today (I know, I know) regarding the 3pm TV blackout we have.
It appears that PL clubs are wanting the blackout ban lifted come 2029 when the TV deal expires.
Their 'argument' is that, as attendances are growing, there are vast numbers of supposed 'fans' who can't get match tickets and can only watch live games on illegal streams.
It's obviously nothing to do with owners trying to milk more and more money out of the game through TV rights.....
The financial gap between the haves and have-nots will just get bigger and bigger.

No offence, but I'm sick of seeing this argument from people. For one thing, we'd currently be trotting out one of the kid goalies, who sound way off the required level, if we hadn't signed Wahlstedt. But moreover, we didn't 'spunk most of our budget on a reserve goalie', we traded to create any budget at all. 2.5 million in, 700k out. Selling Kaminski with no replacement would have been sheer idiocy. Even if Wahlstedt doesn't prove better than Pears (we should see that more clearly over the next couple of games, managers are forever giving players time to settle in, doesn't mean they're seen as second choice long term), it's madness to go through a season with one senior keeper unless you have a prodigy in the youth team.
No, we didn't really spend the difference between the fees either, but you can be pretty sure without that money we wouldn't have brought in Moran or Hill either. And the way Buckley went out on loan...who knows who else we would have had to sell or loan to keep our heads above water. The criminals in this window are Venkys, it's plain and simple for me.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't have signed a goalkeeper to replace Kaminski. Absolutely we needed to.
Let's not forget, though, that Kaminski was Tomasson's second choice behind Pears.
I question whether we need to spend the majority of our budget on a reserve; we could have got one far cheaper.

Clubs can't back a manager forever, it's a results business.
The same will (or should) apply to Tomasson at some point if our results don't start to improve.
-
This could be a watershed game one way or another.
Lose, and we could be in the bottom 3.
Win, and postivity starts to return.
It'll be a draw.

Apologies if this isn't the correct thread.
I was charged double last night (2 lots of £10) for the Coventry game on Rovers TV.
I've emailed the streamamg address as received on the payment confirmation asking for a refund, but to no avail.
Has anyone experienced similar?

I hope it doesn’t happen, but a sustained run of poor form will turn the atmosphere in the ground, and the ire will not be directed at the Head Coach.
I think it will. The Head Coach is the easy target.

Tomasson is a victim in all of this, a victim of the shambolic way in which the club is run and those above him.
He isn't infallible though and ultimately has to take some responsibility for results.
Unless it starts to pick up, something will have to change, if for no other reason than simply for change's sake.
And as wrong as it is - considering those above him - that something will likely be him, doing so with dignity and of his own accord.

Come on Rovers. We can get a win here.

So you think the medical team is now cutting corners?
Do you think the owners are instructing them to do so?
The reaction to some things on here is often mind-boggling.
What's mind boggling is the total refusal of some folk to question the club in any way.
-
If Tomasson changes the formation to be a bit more defensive, we should get something out of the game.
If he carries on as-is, we'll likely concede and lose the game.

Can only assume Ennis was signed with the expectation that they could resolve whatever injury issues he has/had and get him up to speed. Obviously, there is a potential risk to that.
His latest injury was an impact one he received during the Hull game wasn't it? So not a recurrence of his original injury.
Some players get injured a lot because they're never fully fit.
And they're never fully fit, because they get injured all the time.
I suspect that Ennis is in this category.

5 seasons at Bayern - 30 goals a season across all comps. 150goals minimum. Become a bit of a bayern legend probably win a domestic double/treble. High chance of the semis in the CL at a minimum. Along with the fact it's a very well run club and can still attract the best talent.
I'm not saying that it isn't a good move for him, I think it is.
Rather, I was questioning another of Chaddy's conflicting views; in this instance, the Bundesliga vs the PL, the latter of which he's historically regarded as the be-all-and-end-all of world football.
-
Tomasson himself questioned the state of Ennis' fitness on arrival.
A simple V02 type test would have show this up, if indeed they bothered to do one.
-
Due to the terrible window and increasing injury list, we're now in a position where Tomasson is rushing Ennis back into the squad.
What could possibly go wrong?

The Premier League is the best league in the world but given that Kane is joining one of the biggest club in the world and a genuine chance of winning the champions league which he wouldn't have got unless he joined Man City was never going to happen
So it's a good move for 'footballing reasons' for him to join Bayern and play a few CL games, a competition he may or not win, rather than play every week in 'the best league in the world' at a club who are also in the CL.

We've been playing well and due to turn somebody over.
It'll be tomorrow.
Rovers 4-0 Coventry.
We've lost 4 out of the last 5, conceding 15 goals in the process.
I dread to think what playing poorly would look like.

Sounds a bit desperate he'll be out for another 3 weeks if he gets 20 mins.
Ennis could be one of those who's never 100% fit cos he's always recovering from injury, and then gets injured playing when not 100% fit.
So a vicious cycle.

Terrible window.
We needlessly spunked most of our budget on a reserve goalie; Ennis is a crock; Tronstad looks way off so far; the German is a million miles off
However, Sigurrson looks promising, Moran is learning on the job with us and looks a prospect for Brighton; jury out on Hill who looked decent against Cardiff.

If we set up as we have been doing, we'll lose again.
If Tomasson recognises that he needs to stiffen the midfield up, we may get a draw.

Regarding the “ some height “ and “ a midfield grafter “ I was expecting Tronstad to be that player. He falls down in the height category ( mods - am I allowed to say that ? ), we’ll see if he’s a grafter when he gets a game. It’s starting to look like JDT isn’t impressed so far.
To me, he doesn't look suited to the English game. It's too quick for him.

I genuinely think we're heading straight on into a relegation scrap.
We're so easy to play against and so easy to scrore against.
Tomasson needs to swallow his pride and look to grind out a few draws.

I think we're due a home win and am expecting a scrappy 2-1. It won't be anywhere near as easy as the cup game the other week.
Let's see if Tronstad really is 'up to speed' after managing one decent game thus far, and whether Dolan really can 'lead the line well'.
