  1. As I still haven't been able to get to a match this season, I'm reluctant to offer a team selection. Gutted to have to miss this one; when are we ever likely to play Harrogate again? I just hope that Wahlstedt - finally - makes his debut and cements his place in the team. Sorry & all that to Pears, but that's the way of things. Hope the team don't take things easy - don't think JDT will let them - and that we come home with our name still in the hat.🤞
  2. The only club to have won a Cup Final in each of three consecutive Centuries, methinks! 😊
  3. And me, too. RIP. I wasn't in Watford yesterday but believe they mentioned Matt. Which was particularly good of them when they were remembering - and paying tribute to - one of the best 'keepers in their history who passed away recently.
  4. And the memories an 50-year old Video like that triggers off in the brain of this "older supporter"! * The condition of the pitches on which some of the games we used to watch were played!😲 * The quality of some of the players in Third Division football (and the shortness of their shorts!) * And the way memory plays tricks on the "older supporter"! I remember the Watford 'keeper in that game; and saw, about a month ago, that he'd passed away. Which was a surprise to me because I'd have said he was a good ten years younger than me. He was actually just short of a couple of years older than me! Thanks for posting it, @Leonard Venkhater !
  5. You can see why there were those videos a year or so ago of Peterborough United's fans singing that they didn't want him to go.
  6. No; go on @den; tell me again. I can't hear it often enough!! These were a fabulous three points. When, at the start of the season, you look at the fixture list, Watford (A) was the sort of game which you think that, because of their links across Europe and the churn they have in managers, we'll have done well if we can come home with a point. And here we - you lucky faithful ones - are, bringing home 3 points. COYB!
  7. Thank goodness the Production Line seems to be in full flow. It's probably going to be our lifeline for the rest of Venky's time "in charge" of our fates and finances.
  8. Is it difficult typing with your fingers crossed, @Gavlar Somerset Rover! ? 😉
  9. Just as well you're not listening to Radio Lancs, @aletheia ; their commentator's just sounded like he was Pears' agent, the way he's referred to Pears' save just now.
  10. Well your first paragraph's spot on so far, @ben_the_beast!! HEDGES!!!
  11. 😂😂😂 Specially with Simon holding the Radio Lancs co-commentator's microphone, eh @Tugay-is-God ?!
  12. Brighton signed Moran from Bray Wanderers, according to Radio Lancs. Writing from memory, that's the club we signed Andy McEvoy from. If he's as effective as Andy Mc was in his prime, . . .
  13. 😂 Were you one of Al. Read's scriptwriters back in the day, @jim mk2 ?!
  14. So, after all these years, do I, @DanielMB . Sadly, with only brief gaps - 1958/59 to 1965/66; the late-1970s to the early-1980s; 1991/92 to 1998/99; and 2000/01 to the day the Walker Trust sold us - it's happened all too often. And I fear it's likely only to continue too often in the future.
  15. But with owners like these, can you see us acquiring them?? I can't. (I'm waiting for an email from a bloke who lives in Hull and is related to one of my best pals. He usually thinks that gives him the right to email me after a result like this. He may well find tonight that I don't agree with him.)
  16. Hopefully you're feeling better by now, @Tricky. Do we put the no place for Wahlstedt yet down to your, erm, "state of mind"😉 when you posted yesterday? When's he going to make his debut?
  17. T.K. started for Luton Town. We could be swapping places with them, come season's end!
  18. That's correct; but two things occur to me: i) would any employee of a company the size of Venky's expect a reply from the Chairman of the Board if he wrote to them about the way that part of the company he works for is operating? I think not. At best, he'd be ignored; at worst, he'd be marked down as a troublemaker and lined up - if not immediately - for a P45. ii) in this case, weren't we the main group to whom JDT wanted to communicate a message?
  19. Rotherham United 2-2 Blackburn Rovers | Championship highlights | Video | Watch TV Show | Sky Sports Sorry; I can't help myself asking whether Sammie's set a new record by scoring two goals for one team and an "Assist" for the other team in a game which ended 2 - 2?! 🤔😆
  20. I'm listening to the Newcastle Utd. v. Aston Villa game and the crowd is absolutely incensed by some of the referee's decisions. Pat. Nevin - co-commentator for Radio 5 at the game - answered your question, @OldEwoodBlue. It's the International Football Association Board (IFAB) that come up with deciding what the Laws - "the rules" - of the game should be. And they've told member associations that they expect them to implement those rules. With very little room for interpretation. And I read somewhere in the papers over the last week that Howard Webb, the new boss of English Referees, has said that IFAB won't leave him very much leeway and that a letter has been sent out telling Referees to implement the rules. Not having been at our game, I can only guess that the Referee remembered that. Better late than never!

  22. Me, too! 😉😂 Sorry @bluebruce; I picked your post for this comment when there could have been probably more than a dozen other posters whose responses I could have used for this reply. I was listening to Radio Lancs on my phone when, just before 3.00, it went over to something called Radio England doing scores. So I switched over to the Radio 5 commentary on a PL game with scoreflashes from around the country until they gave news of our penalty miss. Thinking, "Typical bloody Rovers!", I switched off for about an hour. The next thing I heard was that we were playing against 10 men but were 2-1 down. I hadn't a clue who'd been sent off for them; or why. Or who'd got our goal; except that it almost certainly couldn't have been Szmodics! And then I heard that Sammie had got his second of the afternoon!! Honestly, lads; and ladies!!! Some of those comments - specially the ones about Szmodics and Dolan - were so far O.T.T. as to be laughable when I heard that scoreline. I know what it's like. And I'm sure that, if you dug deeply enough into the annals of this Board you'd find some intemperate language attached either to the names of m1st, whose password has eluded me for some time, or R0verb0y. But aren't some of the posts on here more O.T.T. than o.t.t.?!
