I read an article saying Chelsea were in for him this summer. Rovers sold him on the cheap to keep the lights on. Rutter proves the fallacy of the Championship price ceiling argument.
What doubts? Lots of clubs were going to be bidding this summer. He was sold on the cheap, you already conceded the point, and Rutter proves that. We’ll leave it there.
It’s not the end of the world if we replace him. We’ve always found a replacement for the goal scorers we’ve sold in the last few years. But we have to spend money now. We won’t get lucky every time.
What’s relevant is that they were prepared to pay it. Seems like the price ceiling for Championship players is a lot higher than the Happy Clappers had us believe.
You’ve not explained why it’s relevant. Leeds, a championship club, have sold a player for £40m to the Prem. The argument from the Happy Clappers was we got the best deal possible for Wharton cos he was a Championship player.
It’s amazing what seeing Sammie scoring goals again for Rovers can do to transfer negotiations. Ipswich clearly blinked first.
Hopefully we’ve got some quality players lined up.
I think you might be reading too much into it. He’s not in charge of transfers but he’s making very clear in that statement we are a few players short of what he wants. He then states the obvious that if he doesn’t get them then he and the squad will just have to crack on.
JE is just showing faith in the players he has. He can’t exactly say ‘we’re fucked if we don’t sign anyone’, even if he thinks it.
Still 2 weeks of the window left. I’m sure there will be more incomings
