The people who didn’t value him (JDT and maybe GB) have moved on so unless Trav is holding a grudge against the club I can’t imagine that’s the reason. JE is apparently very good on the man management side so I’m sure he would have welcomed Trav back and assuaged any lingering fears Trav may have had. I think it’s more likely JE prefers Baker and a swap deal suits everyone involved.

The problem with Trav, as JDT quickly realised, is that you can’t rely on him as a DM. JDT sussed him quite early on and moved him further forward a few months into JDTs first season. JDT also quickly realised Trav isn’t that great as an 8 either due to the fact he isn’t that great technically. I’m fairly sure the CM that JE said was still needed isn’t coming in to replace Tronstad.

This Germain chap looks quite a robust fella physically. Takes a cracking penalty too and looks to have a good left peg on him. When I used to play Football Manager I would always bring in a couple of players of the same nationality as it helps them settle in a new country. One’s things for certain, the supposed policy of only signing/playing young players has died a death. We’re no longer obsessed with being a development club as was the mantra under Broughton. Eustace has certainly won that battle.

I’ve just had a look on their forum and they seem very much in favour of the swap deal. Seems Baker is a bit more of an attacking CM as one comment says he’s good for a few goals but very little else. A goal scoring CM will do for me though.

I thought JRC was going to play RM as in pre-season but who knows. Maybe JE just doesn’t rate Travis and thinks Baker is a better player.

Can’t say I’ve paid much attention to Baker over the years but on the face of it looks an odd swap deal.

JRC was very good in CM under JDT until he got his injury. He looked a real goal threat and made some great runs into the box. I think the role JE has earmarked him for is perfect. Quality player.
