Not listened yet so i'll give him the benefit of the doubt however some of the stuff hes tweeted (and deleted) and allegedly said to people doesn't exactly set him apart from Gestede. When you see this kind of thing happen it shows how the inside of the club is still open to anyone he can get a foot in the door and run the place with nothing more than being in the right place at the right time and bowing to the hierarchy. Paul Agnew - PR man to director. Alan Myers - Comms man to director. At least this guy is local.

It's his complete inability and reluctance to manage upwards that has been the main issue. What we've seen in the last few years has confirmed that but even more so before when him, TM and Venus formed their slow journey old boys club. The scenario we are in now he's be actively encouraging that for years hes said so himself enough times, don't ask for money even though it might be available, make yourself look good even if you hold the club back, get payrise/bonus for not asking to increase the budget but still balancing the books. Manage downwards, yes he is good at that no question but he didn't have available to him at Charlton or Coventry what he had here certainly in the earlier years of his reign, his experience is all based round managed decline. Not all his fault obviously but hes hidden away and been accountable for nothing and lets not start on the lies, training ground shenanigans and multitude of players walking for nothing under his watch. Just think where we'd be now with no Adam Wharton and Ash Phillips to sell ? Those two will have brought in c20-25 million when fully paid up, completely saved his and the clubs arse. -
We got lucky with him coming the way he did and turning out the way he did it's very very rare that happens these days. Not sure he's so easily replaceable in this climate at all, Poveda, Dewsbury, JRC, Clarkson etc there's a long line we've had/have not fit to lace his boots in terms of all round contribution.

Noisiest bit of the ground is in that corner though and where players tend to head when they score. -

Because he knows the income will run out by then so he'll exit stage left before the real nightmare starts. -

A can see a scenario in the near future were they just keep renegotiating the Venky logo sponsorship for a few more million upfront then make repayable company loans available against future player sales. Difference being these small loans will have actual repayment terms. We aren't getting 20 million plus from two player sales this summer so yes either a fire sale or they'll quite simply have no choice but to make money available somehow. They might be fine with putting in ten million every two years rather than every year but it's hard to see anything but a difficult future ahead for us. Then Nixon tells us Waggot wants to hang around for another year or so, hmm... -
I'd say to anyone debating don't bite your nose off to spite your face, if you have to think hard it means you still want to go so just go because those tossers won't care either way. I'm all for hitting them where it hurts and making a statement but not enough will do it to get the leeches to be held accountable and Waggot will put everything else up, more cat A's, cup prices etc to offset it and cover his own arse. I've always personally thought a one match boycott was the way to go i don't see why anyone, ST holder or other couldn't all stop away from just one game to make a point. However, it turned out we had something to play for so it was never going to happen, next season it should though.

Well at least half of them aren't out on the piss on a Tuesday afternoon like in Bowyers tenure. -

Perhaps that's the real reason the drawbridge has gone up. They've spent what they deem they'd get back from 1 season in the Prem plus parachutes and haven't got a promotion so that's it they won't go any further. It's hard not to feel they've cut the club adrift now aside from maybe a sponsorship deal with the Venky part of the company despite what waffle is spouted by the 3 goons. A few things dropped in there bu Suhail got my attention after telling everyone there are no restrictions he drops in bits about owners saying 'we'll see what we can do to help' and 'we'll help you if we can', very concerning if you think about it. Certainly doesn't sound like 'we'll pay all the bills don't worry' type stuff we used to hear. -
Rudy Gestede - Big Chill podcast Interview
Tomphil2 replied to Eddie's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's nice how he leaves out that during the 2000 mins we ended up fighting relegation till the last day. The reason it dropped so drastically was they had to bring in a coach to make sure there was no relegation scrap again and his method against that was use more experience. Which resulted in us being 5th when he left. So Gestede is it ok if we fight relegation again or even go down just so you can get 2000 mins in the kids ? Also he might want to add they flogged a couple first chance they got who had racked up some of those mins. -

I actually think they'd hang on a while longer, figure out a way to get as much back as possible from a season up there then probably put it up for sale on relegation. Maybe with stipulation that they get some of or all of the parachute money which would obviously make it difficult but it would actually deter fly by nights who only had their eyes on that. At least that's what i'd do business wise because it's the only chance of getting significant money back. Just couldn't see them letting go on promotion for less than 100 mill plus and i still couldn't see anyone paying that for the club but you never know. Verdict is we'd probably be stuck with each other and go through another doom loop unless we could get back up again which under this stewardship would be very unlikely imo. -
The Dolan situation is just a rehash of the Lenihen, Nyambe ones, maybe even BBD as how do we know after being low balled 2 years ago he hasn't had a good foreign offer waiting on the table ? They'll offer him a token gesture at the last min then say they bust a gut to keep him and made a 'massive' offer. In reality head office eyes a nice bit if compo and the ability to reinvest 5 of his 8k a week into a loan deal rather than commit to a weekly double figure 3 year contract, then tell India they've cut costs again. Their idea of investment 🤨
-
Dolan has been no different than any other young developing player at this level in that hes been inconsistent and in and out of form. Difference to the average joes like say Buckley for example is hes had plenty runs of good form and when hes good not only does he make the team come alive he can be unplayable at times. He's got graft and a bit of flair in him which is why he should've been 'Tyed' down a few years ago because despite the obvious frustrating stuff there's always been a match winner there as well. He's unlikely to get a Prem move but plenty Championship clubs will like him he's worthy of any squad in this league.

The shit will simply have to hit the fan at some point unless someone turns into a 20 mill player or they resume serious funding. I see a firesale starting next summer.

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
Tomphil2 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Thing is if he has a bit of a bang average WLD style record maybe a bit like TM then that's what they are looking for here. An average coach who'll accommodate young players and loans whilst mixing it up enough to be comfortable in the league and getting value in players via appearances. That is the be all and end all here now everything else is either a little bonus - great first half of season doesn't mean a promotion push it means we won't go down when the weaknesses and injuries kick in. Or it's collateral damage, long losing steaks and odd season fighting relegation. So unfortunately we judge head coaches on the points and where we finish whilst they use different metrics altogether, squad value, youth mins, work under ever reducing costs, cope with angry fans, stay up. -
Yep i doubt they could offer Ty a standard 10k a week plus bonuses contract over 3 or 4 years and a signing on/loyalty bonus due to not knowing wtf will happen beyond the next year or so's guaranteed income.
-
I think the assumption was he's already on 8k and been offered the same which would sum this lot up perfectly. Looks like they have a different ceiling for academy grads that they won't go beyond but will happily throw money at short term signings and loans.

Ah cheers that's him i couldn't remember the name but i do remember my mates dad saying who the bloody hell is that when they were warming up 😂 -
If they'd invested in him when they should have then they'd be looking at a nice fee now plus add ons if there was genuine interest and if not we'd still have a year or two of him to hit his peak. BBD, Rothwell, Nyambe, Lenihen, now Dolan all allowed to walk out of the building for free. Utterly pathetic the whole board need sacking but no doubt to India if they are even questioned they'll lay blame on Mowbray, Venus, Broughton and say this is why we needed Rudy. The COO and CEO are ultimately responsible for all this regardless of whatever other characters might have been involved, the heads of the club should stand to account !

Vaguely remember going there around Christmas time pre Jack and i'm sure we won 2-1, Garner scored and we had a rookie keeper on loan i think. Then i think we won there a time or two in the Prem when the revolution started but after that not much it's certainly never been a 'big game' happy hunting ground. Can't see it changing they'll have a point to prove they aren't a team to sit back at home but you never know with this Rovers team, big test for Ismael. -
He might be on about 4k a week so that's double pay but even so it's practically shoving someone like him out of the door he'd get more at Millwall or maybe even Preston. He's worth a double figure weekly wage imo and it's a proper investment instead of pissing 20k a week away on the likes of Dennis or Poveda types.
