The January 2026 Transfer Window
DutchRover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He'd be more sensible for our formation, and has been their best player across season looking at ratings. Russell would've been the other I'd have been interested in, and we were linked in summer. But he didn't play so they can't have gone to watch him. Barnsley fans don't know why Hourihan won't play him, and only 6 months left, so would be cheap. Interestingly on their forum there were positive references to "big Val". -

Not sure I understand why we would be chasing Reyes, he plays Kargbo's non-existent pacy left winger role. If we were a sensible team who would actually develop him etc, then go for it, but he doesn't fit in the system we play just now, and I would rather we spent our "budget" (lol imagine having a transfer budget) on an actual Striker, not another winger we can't play. -

Two strikers has to be the priority, especially now Gudjohnson is injured for a while. I love Ohashi and he works so hard up top with no service whatsoever most of the time, but he also clearly needs a rest to maintain his effectiveness. Remember even with Gudjohnson he does most of the running and pressing up front. After ST, wing back options as competition/back-up to Hedges and Alebiosu is key; again we need to be able to rotate, and De Neve has proven he's not good enough, while we have nothing on right (Litherland and Miller are CBs, or at a push RBs, but not RWBs). Back-up for Tronstad in defensive midfield next; Baradji, TGH, Morishita etc can all do the box-to-box role, but we have no-one behind Tronny except an ancient Forshaw. CB by my reckoning should only be the 6th guy we bring in; Pratt, McLoughlan, Miller, O'Riordan, Litherland, Atcheson, with Wharton and Carter returning is enough. I would like an experienced (c.27 not 37 y/o) to replace Hyam's role in middle of back three but that's a luxury given our needs elsewhere and the relatively strong performances of our defense since the change in formation. -

If he's at Stoke his wages will be beyond us, and between Mcloughlan and Pratt, with Wharton to come back, we have enough lefties at CB. Hedges (lol), Pickering (for now) and Ribeiro also options. If we want an experienced CB, should be right sided to replace Carter, who I think it might be time to cut loose given his injuries. Ideally someone who can play in middle and organise Miller, who tries hard but often gets caught out of position. As others say though, CB is lower on list than ST, CM, and I'd argue both wing back positions. De Neve is not good enough, Pickering and ribeiro too defensive and out of favour. Nobody on right behind Alebiosu. Litherland is a CB doing a job. Maybe recall Duru as youth depth if Kent stills thinks San Diego won't buy him. -

Hard to see Hearts selling anyone in the middle of a title fight; even if they were just resigning Halkett to protect his value (unlike a normal well run team like us, strange idea that). Both Halkett and Findlay have been key figures in their defence. -

If we are sniffing around lower leagues in Europe again there are a few English qualified guys who wouldn't need permits: Max Dean, ST, KA Gent; came through at Leeds, but an Ormskirk lad; was decent last season but down year so might be available cheap, young enough to improve. Fraser Hornby, ST, Darmstadt; Everton academy, but loans at Kortrijk and Aberdeen who've we've signed from before. Good year last year, down year this year so could be cheap, perhaps a decent target man replacement for Gueye. Eliot Stroud, LWB, Mjälby; Swedish/English, young and pacy, gets good reviews as a left wing back, could be a good back up/replacement to Hedges. Colin Rösler, CB, Malmo; linked in summer, big CB, Europa league experience. Probably too expensive but never know. Melle Meulensteen, CB, Go Ahead Eagles; son of Rene, big CB, experience in Netherlands and Italy, perhaps more in budget than Rösler. Ennio van der Gouw, GK, Zulte Waregem; Dutch/English, plays in Belgium, could be a decent back up to Toth. Jamie Roche, DM, Lausanne; Swedish/English, athletic defensive mid, might be out of budget as he seems highly rated. All young enough to improve, and play in leagues we seem keen to buy from. Not looked at contracts but should all be roughly in budget even for us, especially if we offload a couple. English qualified so hopefully avoid ESC requirements which we're tight on. -

For the life of me I can't understand why we refuse to resign Tronstad. He's clearly the glue in midfield and all the players and Ismael love him, and he actively wants to stay. I can't even imagine his wage demands are outlandish, especially if the alleged move home to Scandi land is real. We save money by not having to replace him too. He is top priority in Jan. -

Oh so predictable. Gueye looked like he was running in treacle. Ref should never get another professional game again, literally did whatever Ipswich asked him to give. -

We are playing against 12 men, ref is worst I have seen this season and we've had some bad decisions most games. Unbelievably biased. -

Disgusting decision again by ref, Ipswich dive every time they have to make a header. -

Why does it feel like every week the refs bottle key decisions against us. Pen would've been soft I think, the clipping of Morishita was a red by the rules, clear as day. -

Pathetic gamesmanship by Ipswich. Dives, fake injuries, the lot, sort of thing EFL should hammer them for but won't. -

They need a retrospective ban system when ref makes a mistake. They have it for extreme issues like racism/biting but not for dangerous tackles which seems an oversight. -

Great win and some fantastic performances. I thought Pratt did well on debut at CB, and Morishita grew into game behind the strikers. Four wins in five now is a nice wee run, puts instant relegation fears to bed, though I think we need more work in transfers in January to feel comfortable, especially with injuries to come. Baradji getting killed in first game for us was so predictable, hope nothing serious. -

100% a red card challenge, no control and straight into the calf, nowhere near ball Anti-blackburn ref bias continues... -

Great header and run around back to make it, good striker play by Gudjohnson. Need more around pitch to go with his poaching instinct. -
