  1. Hughesie must have nicked Fergie's watch that equaliser was so late. Maybe a change of luck (or am I speaking too soon). We could just do with Stead getting 1 as well now.
  2. Bothroyd seems to be missing some chances tonight. Does anyone have any tips on how to best follow games on t'internet. I have only recently joined the nucleur age and not sure of the best (free) options.
  3. Glad De Pedro is playing tonight. The only way he's gonna get fit is by playing a few games. Then agin he looked useless against WBA and I remember him being quite good when I've seen him before. Maybe he's another case of Souness buying famous players' relatives by mistake. Is it still 1-1?
  4. I voted for Le Saux due to his form around the time we won the title when he was magic. He even banged in quite a few goals at that time and won a few big games as well as putting loads of great crosses over. He left under a cloud but was a great player. Other favourites are Basil Rathbone and Wee Alan Wright. I think left back is 1 of the positions where we have generally had good players over the years. Who was the worst ever lleft back then? In my era I would suggest Calum Davidosn would take some beating. He was useless. I do remember a bloke called Oliver who we signed from somewhere like Berwick in around 1990, he was particularly bad but I don't think he established himself to the extent that Davidson did.
  5. Agree about the importance of Wednesday's game. He should play a strong team as its a long season if you go out of the cups early and we don't want to take the risk. Not sure what Hughes thinks our strongest team is though. I hope he finds a way of getting Emerton out of the side because he is bloody useless.
  6. BIG RON - I think you are on crack! He's retired hasn't he? What about the real Ron The Manager?
  7. I don't think Hughes has ruled himself out by his comments. He just said he wouldn't leave Wales but he may keep the Wales job part time until they get dumped out of the World Cup even if he gets the Rovers job. Is Advocaat really the favourity, please God no. Just look at the SPL table to see what has happened to Rangers. We do not want this man at our club ....he would be a disaster. I heard Craig Levein on Radio Forth this afternoon. He said he was flattered but had a huge job on at Hearts. He was being pretty non-committal I thought. Has anyone mentioned King Kenny as a potential? What about a King Kenny / Mike Newell dream ticket. Apparantly they have been seen playing a round of golf at Wilpshire and having a pie and pint in the Brownhill Arms.
  8. Craig Levein has spent almost his entire career at Hearts, I think they signed him from Cowdenbeath. He was an excellent cenbtre half who suffered with injuries and has done a great job as manager in really difficult circumstances. He is reputed to be a top coach and I reckon he would be a good choice but I doubt he'll get the job as he has no profile in England. Another reason to rate Levein. About 10 years ago his central defence partner was Graeme Hogg (ex-Man U). In a pre-season game Craig wasn't impressed with Hogg's attitude so he decked him with the best punch you have ever seen. Hogg was carried off with a broken jaw while Levein was sent off. It was a fantastic moment and maybe suggests that Levein would take a different approach when he falls out with a player to Souness's slagging them off to the press.
  9. I can see Parkes making a few changes as he has in the past when he has taken over. He should play Matteo at centre half where he belongs. Is Souness going to be there or what? He must be passing on some inside info as its in his interest for the Geordies to win. I remember in the past Parkes has favoured filling the midfield so I expect Tugay, Ferguson & Flitcroft to all play. Does anyone know any decent pubs near the ground. For people going by train the big Wetherspoons pub opposite the station is good, I think its called the Meeting Rooms or something. I reckon we'll nick it 1-0. Hopefully it will be with a dodgy late penalty. Souness will be so mad he'll blow his cover and come running from his hiding place and get a lengthy ban from his old pals at the FA.
  10. Come on..own up...who voted for Perez? And Mark Atkins.....? I personally rate Price as the best I've seen but Jim Brannagan was good as well, particularly if it was cutting up rough. In his time at Rovers it would be interesting to see how many games Jim missed as I can never remember him being inbjured. This was in the Saxton era when I think we had about 15 players and they had to play even if they had a life threastening inbjury. They don't breed em like that anymore!
  11. Advocaat is a complete and utter dick and I don't know a hun who has a good word to say about him. Come on Rovers don't cause me any more embarrasment. What with Souness, Tugay, Amoruso & Ferguson we're already getting a reputation for being the wee huns up here but Advocaat..... thats taking it a bit too far. By the way, he was crap as Holland manager as well as you would have seen in the summer. Its got to be Strachan, and if not then Mark Hughes.
  12. We should have waived the compensation if Souness took Amoruso with him. My first choics is Strachan as he is a good laugh but I'm not sure after that. He might be waiting for the Scotland job though which he has been tipped for and will probably be available this week as well.
  13. Great news for Rovers I reckon. He had lost the plot and was on the way out but we couldn't afford to sack him. Bet we get a pen on Saturday now. As for the Geordies, they had better get used to the manager falling out with his players and the referees etc. etc. What with Dyer, Belamy etc I see fun times ahead for us all.
