  1. How many times last season did the opposition score immediately after another great tactical switch by the maestro? Ho, Ho, Ho!
  2. I thought Sean Curry was OK. I remember giving City the run around at Main Road in the days when they were the big boys in Div 2. I know I should remember Kaba Diawara, someone remind me who he was. Another complete dud was Neil Oliver.
  3. Has anyone seen that Jeff Stelling book called "England Worst Footballers"? It has a nomination for each club but I'm not sure where the nominatiuons come from. The nomination for the worst ever Rovers player is Egil Ostenstad. While I agree that Egil was pretty crap and couldn't score in a brothel I can't agree that he is the worst Rover ever. If you tale just abaility as your criteria then someone like Norman Bell, John Lowey or Kevin Shitehouse would surely come out on top. If you factor in value for money then surely Kevin Davies or Grabbi would be the man. In fact when we swopped Davies for Ostenstad I thought we got the best of the deal despite losing £7m on Davies, that is how bad he was. Maybe once we have picked our top Rovers XI we should pick our team of duds. Ashley Ward was a personal (un) favourite of mine.
  4. (must have hit the wrong button) Hughes sounded quite up-beat after the game and was saying again about how their fitness is improiving. It must have been really bad before for him to keep mentioning it. Maybe being fit wasn't 1 of the requirements for being a "real man" under the previous regime. It was good to come from behind again but we shouldn't go overboard in praising them for getting a pont at Norwich. Next 5 games are City, Brum, Fulham, Spurs, Palace - we need at least 10 points from these games I reckon to get ourselves off the bottom before a hard run of games.

  6. That was so much better than of late and possibly the best we have played this season. We looked good in midfield and caused them a few problems going forward which is a big change. I was impressed with the spirit as at the start of each half we were getting stuffed and yet came back into it despite conceding. I've been a critic of his in the past but I think Emo was superb tonight. This must have been his best game since his debut. He really ran at Liverpool and took his man on. I also thought Bothroyd was good and worked well with Dickov. Shame about McEveley's cock up for the 2nd goal because apart from that he had a decent game but the 1st goal was the 3rd in 2 games caused by our "off-side" trap. Why don't we just mark people? At least we can have a bit of confidence going into the next few games because we really need a couple of wins quick. Did anyone else think the referee was great tonight. Its ages since I've seen a ref actually talking to players rather than just booking everyone. It was a hard game but both teams were really going for it and I think he handled it really well.
  7. Rovers 0-3 Liverpool Att 26,102 I would have gone for 4-0 but we can't lose by the same score for 3 games in a row. Its the run of games after this one that are worrying me, we could be stuffed if we don't start winning quick. If anyone in the Edinburgh area fancies a night of crying into their beer wiyth like minded people come along to the Queens Arms on Frederick Street to watch the game.
  8. Its pointless having a go at Hughes as there is no way we would get rid of him so quickly. He inherited a pile of @#/? and so far hasn't shown any signs of improving things but we've got to give him a chance. I just hope he's not another Brian Kidd, nice guy who just couldn't do it. On saying that surely we all have the righ to voice our opinions here about the state of our beloved club without being slagged off.
  9. Very depressing and I can see us getting drubbed next week as well. After that we have a run of games when we have to start winning or we are f***ed. It doesn't matter who we try and buy in Januray, if we are bottom then no-one will want to come and even if we make some good signings it will be too late to save us.
  10. Gray was just taken off, I didn't know he was playing. I've had Radio 5 on since 1/2 time and his name wasn't mentioned. The same could be said of 1 of our midfiled players, presumably Flitcroft. Could someone who is watching it tell me whether it is as 1 sided as it sounds on the radio. Our goal diference must be the worst in the league by some way now (-15 I believe) and we must have the worst disciplinary record as well. It sounds as if Short should have gone in the penalty incident as well. If we are going to play Djorkaeff and 1 other up front away from home it has to be Stead or Boothroyd. You need some presence up front. Dicov has his good points but he's just like a wee boy playing with men when he's up there on his own.
  11. 2-0 It gets better by the minute. I am getting a good feeling about this weekend. Chelsea 1-2 Rovers ??
  12. Maybe not but Burnley have just gone 1-0 down, thats funny!
  13. I would like to see us lining up:- Freidel Matteo Todd Short Gray Emerton Flitcroft Ferguson Pederson Djorkaeff Stead We should use the return of Todd and Short to get some proper defenders in the team and get Neill and Amo out of there. I hear Amo is likely to be out for a few weeks, thank God. We might as well give MGP a run of games on the left to see if he's up to it and I would like to see Stead back in the team because the only way he's going to get his form back is by getting a goal.
  14. Chelsea will be quaking in their boots what with our record down there and the fact they are on a losing run of 1 and after a hard Champions League game. Everything points to an away win.......so my prediction is s 3-0 Chelsea with Neill sent off for Rovers.
  15. This is a tricky 1 because we have had loads of good wingers. From my time I rate Windy Miller, Howard Gale (although he was more of a striker and Rippers. I'll probably end up voting for Windy for the memories of him dashing down the wing to cross towards an expectant Super Simon. It usually ended up in the back of the Blackburn End but when it came off there was no better sight in football.
  16. I can't believe how bad we were yesterday, even with the atandards of the last season and a bit that was shocking. The most depressing thing about it though is I can't see much room for improvement withg the current squad. From yesterdays team I would say that Neill, Amoruse & Reid are never going to be good enough. Of the rest who could anyone call either outstanding or a key member of the team (goalie excepted). Ferguson does OK but nothing more than OK in my book, Tugay is past it, Gray can't defend, Matteo .......etc.....etc. Who could come in and improve things? Maybe Short & Todd should get a few games together at the back but Short is 36 and injury prone. Maybe Thommo could do a job but he has been so long injured since he has been here who knows whether he will come back as the same player. And another thing, why were people clapping Tugay when he got sent off? Well done mate, you've just cost us the game. His tackle was just so stupid, even if he hadn't been booked he might have got a straight red for it and there was no reason for it apart from stupidity. Listening to radio Pravda after the game you would have thought that we had won the amount of positives peoiple were taking from the game. There were no positives from saturday's game at all. Basically we are a dream to play aginst. The opposition knows they will be under no pressure at the back and if they wait long enouigh we'll gift them a couple of goals. We're going down boys and we'd better get used to the idea.
  17. We really need 3 points tomorrow don't we with the next couple of games coming up. Who's going to be available of Fergie, Emo and Neill? Either way I see us getting a 0-0 with 21,012 in attendance.
  18. Can we all please f**k off with this soap dodgin', weedgie old firm sh**e. This is a Rovers site. Please refer to www.bigot.co.uk if you want to continue this arguement.
  19. I hate to say it but I can see a lot of similarities between Scotland and Rovers at the moment. Both give away too many soft goals and create bugger all at the other end. Both also have several hard working but not quite good enough strikers. And yes, both have a decent central midfield player who plays well but doesn't quite manage to grab a game by the scruff of the neck like he should do. At least we've got a decent goalie.
  20. I can report that Barry played the full game tonight and played allright. Typical performance really, he played a few nice passes and looked quite good but didn't do quite enough. On saying that he stood out in that team.
  21. I personally think that Middlesbrough's new ground is crap. Its a bland, charactorless shed with no interesting features at all. It is also surrounded by wasteland. Same for the Reebock Stadium, give me Burnden anytime. Because a ground has lots of shinny seats it doesn't make it a good ground. Sometimes it may look very nice on TV but when you are actually there its a dump. Hampden Park is the classic, its so badly designed you can hardly see from half the seats behind the goals yet they get to stage a European Cup Final.
  22. Agreed. He should remember who pays his wages. If he has a dodgy hamstring he should be back in Blackburn not in Moldova or wherever they are. If this was a Man U or Arsenal player there is no way Vogts would even consider playing him. Scotland are out of the WC anyway to all intents and purposes. I'm worried about the stuff in todays papers about Fergie. What the f**k does his agent think he's doing mentioning about Liverpool if they haven't made an approach? I suppose he's just touting Fergie's name around because he doesn't fancy a relegation struggle. If that is true it's a disgrace but in these cases the player nearly always gets his move. It might be a load of paper talk but if this is all it is why does the agent have to make a comment?
  23. I'm sure they said Fergie was definitely out injured for Wednesday on Sportscene last night. Then again I was quite ###### when I was watching it so maybe they were talking about someone else. Perhaps Emo and Neill will be able to get back early as they are about 4-1 up from the away leg.
  24. Who are we going to have available at the weekend? If Emerton and Neill play for Aus in midweek they probably won't be back in time and I can't see Fergie being fit if he's out with a hamstring injury. I don't suppose the ones coming back from injury will be right because they haven't played at all.
