  1. I think we ned to empty him before the end of the month. If we hang onto him his value would probably fall between now and the end of the season or he might get injured again. What would it achieve hanging onto him in our battle for midtable stability when we have Savage now who is a better player anyway. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Newcastle, or someone else, came in with a late bid and he ended up there though. You can never believe these homesick stories these players tell. It usually means they are after some more cash (eg Savage).
  2. So Barry Buckfast is wanting to leave, I suspect its because he misses his mince pie suppers. Lets just get what we can for him and move on.
  3. Absolutely non whatsoever! He is the shell suit kid though isn't he.
  4. Huh? For all English readers, a Ned is a Chav.
  5. Just watched the extended highlights on Sky, looked like we played really well. The defence looked excellent with the 2 new signings which is a relief as I always thought the full backs were our weak point over the last couple of months. Does anyone know if the suspensions for Dickov and Tugay count for the cup game or do they have to miss the Bolton game? If we sign Savage though it should be him in for Tugay and away we go.
  6. I was taling more about his inability to wear anything but sportswear.
  7. Personally I wouldn't be too sorry to see Buckfast Barry going but I think the timing is all wrong for us. We should try and keep hold of him until the summer as we have been doing OK with him in the team and don't want to rock the boat now. I'm still undecided about how good he actually is. You can't really knock anything he does but I don't think he does enough to be a real class player. He doesn't dominate the midfield and he didn't do this in big games for Rangers or for Scotland either. I think we paid about double the going rate for a decent Premiership player and Rangers' £3M is probably a realistic price. On Baz himself, what a ned! One minute he's on about getting out of the goldfish bowl and next it look like he wants to climb back in and swim with the goldfish again. He will be branded a failure for the rest of his career if he goes back to the Huns when he doesn't have to do that as he has actually done OK.
  8. 1st division here we come Right back where we started from Open up those golden gates 1st division here we come. Of course we could be singing this now if they hadn't changed the name of the league below us to the Championship. I used to like it when we used to do the Laurel and Hardy tune when the coppers came on a march through the Blackbuen End. Usually followed by "Who's that Tw*t with a t!t on his head? Do..dah, do..dah".
  9. I'll be happy with a point to be honest. Everton are punching well above their weight but they are well organised and I can't see us scoring and with our defence....... At least it should be a good crowd as they have all the Darwen End don't they. It shows what difference a good manager can make though when you look at Everton. They have players like Carsley and Bent in the team and yet are 2nd in the league, unbelieveable. Could someone ask the drummer to please be quiet on Saturday. I'm on my works night out on Friday and then have to get up early for the trip down so will be in need of a bit of shut eye by 3 o'clock.
  10. Top priority is a striker I reckon. If we don't find someone who can score regularly we will be struggle to get away from the bottom. I would stick with Dickov but we need a goal poacher to play with him (Apologies for mentioning playing with and Dickov in the same sentance). We probably need all the other positions as well but I would say centre-back is the 2nd prioirty. Midfield is OK and the full backs are poor but we can probably get by with them but we need a real leader at the back. Who are we going to get though as we presumably haven't got much money?
  11. Could even be a repeat of the classic 5-4 game from the late 80's. Pity there's no Big Co to snatch the last minute winner. Selhurst Park has so many bad memories but we have done OK there in recent years so I fancy us to sneak a 1-0 win with Bothroyd scoring the winner.
  12. 55 pages about a player we've barely seen.....wow!
  13. God but I hate Spurs. You can't turn the radio or TV on without hearing about what a "Massive" club they are and how important they are. Well, for a massive club its amazing that they have never finished in the top 6 of the Premiership. No, not even once. Comparte that to Champions once, runners up once and top 6 five times. They are massive in that most TV and radio pundits support them but apart from that they are a total minnow and not fit to lace our sturdy Northern boots. Why does any Spurs player who plays 2 good games get in the England squad while players can star for clubs like Rovers for years without getting a shot? Its a downright consporacy. In fact I'd go as far as to say that (apart from Burnley obviousely) Spurs are my most disliked team of all. At least Man U and Arsenal have something to back up their arrogance, these boys have nowt! Come on Rovers lets stick it right up the mamby pamby, wingeing southern softies so we can listen to 606 on Saturday night hearing them calling for their 15th managers head in the last 3 years. Don't you just hate them........aaaarrrrggghhh! 2-0 Rovers, Ferguson & Emerton.....21,567. The Queens Arms will be rocking on Saturday night.
  14. What a hard choice. Its funny how you alweays sem to get your best players in the same positions. In my time watching Rovers we have had 4 excellent left wingers in Brotherstone, Sellers, Wilcox & Duff. While I can see Duff going down as an all time great player I might well vote for Scotty because I think he gave me more special memories (although most of them are hazy). Noel also deserves a place in the team though as the most skilful player ever to play for us. I can remember him beating people and then going back to do it again just because he could. Pity we can only have 1 player in each position but perhaps we should have put Noel on the right after all although as far as I remember he played the vast majority of his games for us on the left.
  15. I'm with Mick on this one. Someone should puncture them drums to shut them up for good. We could then sing some classics like "You are my sunshine" or "Chim Chimeny" which don't require to be battered along with. When we get a corner it could be "Come on you Blues" rather than "Bang, Bang......etc".
  16. The food may have been inedible and there were no pies but there was 1 inovation which I liked. Down at the side of our stand, backing onto the river, there was a bottle bar. They managed to serve people quickly as there was no pouring involved and you could just stand around drinking lager, it was great. Hopefully the powers that be down at Ewood took notice of this as it is the way forward.
  17. £35? Thats a f***ing discrace. I was thinking of getting the train down for the day but there is no way I'm paying that much for a ticket. They can stick it where the sun don't shine together with their poxy, mechano set stadium.
  18. I don't understand the obsession people have with getting this guy in the team. We have finally found a balanced midfield with Emerton playing on the left so why change it? Even as a sub he is behind Thommo in the pecking order and is unlikely to get on unless their are injuries.
  19. I don't know how anyone could possibly slag Paul Dickov off after his performances of late, he has been superb. If Gallagher can keep improving and Bothroyd comes back either of these 2 should make up a good partnership with him. What kind of reception did Andy Cole get before the game? We missed the kick-off after misjudging the length of the walk from the 8 Bells.
  20. Does anyone know any decent pubs near the ground and also what time they open. We should get there for about 11 (planes, trains and tubes allowing) so don't want to be wasting any VDT. Same team as finished on Sunday and us to win 2-0 (Emerton, Thommo).
  21. If he was racially abused then he has the right to be p**sed off and the abusers should be kicked out but don't condemn a whole crowd for the actions (alleged) of 2 people. The BBC site has this as the main Sports headline yet how can it be such big news, even with the Spain carry on in the week. Its a joke.
  22. Reasonably well in 1 half isn't good enough though is it. We played well today and yet only got a point because we gifted them 3 goals. If we have to score 2 or 3 goals to get a point we are down. We need to be more determined and better organised at the back and we need to stop playing the foooking off-side trap whicxh seems to cost us a goal every week. For that 1st goal today why weren't the defence marking their men rather than claiming fior a non-existant off-side. On saying that it was quite encouraging because we looked good going forward but we are saying that every week at the minute and are geting nowhere. I would try Short and Todd next week but it doesn't seem to matter who plays at the back. Good to see Thommo back and Reid was great.
  23. This is a huge game for us. We have got to start winning some games and even though its still early in the season I can't see much hope if we don't win a couple of games between now and the end of the year. We won't get a better chance than today. Brum are pretty crap after all. I hope Thommo plays in the middle because he will be good there. In this country we always seem to put skillful players out wide for some reason when they would be much more effective in the middle where they can make things happen. Thommo is a classic example because when he plays out wide he is wasted as he isn't going to beat people and get crosses in. Him and Fergie look good on paper anyway. I think we should stick with Reid and Emerton as well as both have done OK over the last couple of games. I fancy us to win 2-0 (Dickov, Thompson) with 18,987 as the most embarrasing crowd for many years.
  24. I thought Stead was injured. If he's fit I'd have him in with the rest of the team that finished on Saturday. I think Thompson in central midfield could make a real difference to us going forward. We really need these 3 points and I can see us winning 2-0. If we don't win at least 2 or 3 games between now and Christmas we are really struggling but at least we have been showing some fight of late. We need to go at them and not wait for them to go ahead before we start playing. Are any of our old boys going to be playing for Brum does anyone know?
  25. Remember 96? Just tell the b*stards its pay back time for Shearer.
