I just read Richard Matheson's classic, indeed seminal, sci-fi novel I Am Legend. It is absolutely incredible and with only 160 pages, it's over in no time at all. I've now moved onto The Good German by Joseph Kanon. It's very good if a little hard going.

You must be one of the few who doesn't like the Bourne films. They are truly superb. 300 is based on graphic novelist Frank Miller's take on the battle of Thermopylae, so it's far from historically accurate. While it's true that only 300 Spartan soldiers fought there, the size of the opposition Persian army is unlikely to have been a million as suggested in the book and film. Saying that it was a vastly superior force. And they kicked ass quite frankly.

Oh for f*** sake! When I pre-ordered it from play.com the date of release was Friday. They've put it back two weeks!

3 days until God Of War II. Get in! I just bought The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher's Bay on eBay for the Xbox. It's supposed to be utterly superb.

Dog Soldiers is good but not a patch on The Descent. I saw Ghost Rider last week. I have to say I thought it was crap. Absolute rubbish.

I'm currently on holiday in the US and went to see 300 last night. It is absolutely mind-blowing. It's about as deep as a conversation with Robbie Savage but that's really a negative that should be levelled at the graphic novel rather than the film based on it.

I saw Hot Fuzz last night. It's great fun, but not as clever or as hilarious as it thinks.

I'm reading the book at the moment. It's not bad at all. I'm going to finish it before seeing the movie. The Silence of the Lambs aside, the films have been rubbish, even Manhunter was nowhere near as good as it's hyped up to be.

Yeah it's pretty pants. But Tony Scott directed and Bruckheimer/Simpson produced so it must be entertaining at least. Plus Robert Duvall's in it and that's never a bad thing.

Eh? Most of the films I watch are mainstream. I watched V last night as it happens. You're right, it's @#/?. Rocky is clearly the best of them but Rocky III is fantastically OTT and the second is a touching, almost innocent sophomore effort. The final entries are preposterous and overblown in equal measures. Only the character of Rocky himself saves them from total oblivion.

Really? I thought Robbie Williams's alternative lifestyle was widely acknowledged.

I'm ashamed to say that I'd only seen Rocky before last week. Having caught the bug, I promptly bought the anthology on eBay (seemingy it's sold out everywhere else). I've just finished Rocky III and I have to say they've been brilliant so far-completely without pretension. Rocky himself is an almost flawless character dragged down only by the cruelty and cynicism of the real world.
